Somewhere either Jack or Atticus says it's a sin to kill a mocking bird. Which is symbolic as Tom Robinson was put to death for something he didn't do, More or less, it's an addendum to your part saying Tom Robinson is the mockingbird.

I've just watched this film today, Tom has it pretty bang on, from lifting his arm on to his leg as he sits down, to his timing with words, he obviously has watched the film over and over but I agree with the atticus coments, he seems to be reading the words but is not in the passion of the moment, shame.

Tom was very good. Atticus lacked passion and fidgeted far too much, he should have focused much more on Tom and let his words carry. Atticus basically has tremendous moral authority but it's quietly applied, he need to go gently listening to Tom, then being firm when Tom starts stalling. Lines like 'your swore to tell the truth, will you do it', it's key - Tom's teetering, Atticus must pull him back to secure the testimony, but Att doesn't give Tom any time to react, he just throws the line.
