I have worked on swamp coolers for many years. There is no correct pad to use in a swamp cooler, it is all preference. You can use paper pads. These tend to degrade the fastest, and have to be replaced every one to two years. Aspen pads tend to last 3-5 years. Paper and Aspen pads tend to have a musty odor associated with them. Some people do not like that. If you can handle the odor, either Paper or Aspen are good to use. The blue pads are for those people who do not like the smell
those blue pads didnt work out for me i dont jonow why, i had to buy those less expensive since this kind of problem occour to me....can you tell me why this happened to me?
@StevensBrysonphx Well,I see no one answered you so maybe 2 heads are better than one.I patched my electric dishwasher hole the size of about a 50 cent piece or larger,with a piece of plexiglass cut bigger and marine caulking as it's water resistant and can stand temperatures of over 120 degrees.I smeared the hell out of the plexiglass and smoshed it on the hole and let it set up for 2 days to make sure it was dry.It was dry the next day tho.And this was 10 yrs ago and is still holding.
Respond to this video.Now,I have an issue.With a swamp cooler.Mine is shocking me every time I touch the metal.I washed it out before re-installing it,as it's a cool-max portable on wheels.It did't shock me till a few weeks ago.It's been fine for 2 1/2 months,so just started.Any ideas?Other than now I just plug it in,and un plug it and so don't even touch the switches any more.But was just wondering why.Unless water got into the electrical somehow.I sealed all that good tho,{I assumed}

Aspen pads made from wood work the best on these type of coolers...I'm a woman and even I know that. What was this guy THINKING??

NEVER !!! USE Dura cool pads, they will destroy the cooler,
if there is Mold on the pads your not doing it WRONG.
there is nothing wrong with the pads you are replacing !!!
its not styrofoam , its Plastic ! plastic dose not soak up water, they don't work, they spray water all over the inside of the cooler.
this guy has no clue what he is doing
