@mrcrackpot45 i find the best way to learn is to just go out and do it, that's what worked for me, i'm still nowhere near as good as these guys of course but i can make it down hills decently.

hey im friends with pro longboarders. and iv met pro freeboarders, there pretty dope. but A LOT of kooks that fail at longboarding go to freeboarding. thats why i stick to long boarding.

Comparing freebords and longboards is like comparing apples and oranges. They are entirely different. I'm a downhill longboarder and I do pretty well, but when I picked one of these up, it was like learning a whole new thing. I'm a pretty bad snowboarder, but I thought that it would help a little to have some snow experience. It didn't. These two sports have their own completely different set of requirements.
