Thanks for the great comment. The sound of the loco sounds great in the video, but I wish you could have heard it as I did! As you know, the video was shot in 1994. I would never be able to ride a locomotive without permission today.
All I can say is ....... LOVE THAT SOUND!!!!! Could listen to it all day. Pity no-one in Australia will give you a cab ride due to Occupational Health rules......... i.e yes..... we can't do it the foreman's watching. Great video.
I used to have quite a few -9 parts. I don't have much left. There were about 3,470 built and quite a few have been taken out of service. A lot of stuff I had were doors, engine parts, cab parts, hoses, etc. These are cool. I like them better than the -7
s. I at one point almost ended up with a short block assembly too.
GP9 sound amazing in Run 4-8. I volunteer at a museum that operates one for excursion trains, but the speed limit on the track is only 10 MPH, so we rarely rev it higher than run 3. It's cool to see one of them pulling at full power.
@Locomotive450 I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I was fortunate to be able to get the cab rides. It's almost unheard of now days. I'll be posting more vids from this dvd I made. Which museum are you affiliated with?
@bemseer I'm a volunteer that the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo, CA. If you're interested, I have lots of videos of our GP9 up on Youtube including cab ride videos and a startup video.

@bemseer Unfortunately, the historical line through Campo is not serviced by Amtrak, though the line did see revenue freight service up until about two years ago.
