Stewart was a better specialist batsman than a WKB... Russel was certainly the greatest England gloveman since Knott but the selectors obviously preferred to play another batsman and have Stewart keep wicket which he did well (better than anyone since anyway)...
He never stole test caps off anyone. Alec Stewart earned his place in the England team as a batsman alone, he just happened to be good with the gloves too. If you want to blame someone for Jack Russells omission from the Test side I suggest you blame the England selectors.
You stole loads of test caps off Jack Russell. He was the best keeper in the world and would have gone down as one of the all time greats...had his Dad been the England coach. Total myth that he couldn't bat.
He's also an excellent painter whereas you struggle with painting by numbers
