  • Ugliest car I ever seen!!

  • THAT THING IS SO UGLY!!?!? WTF IS IT, A CATERPILLAR?

  • Electric engines have the laws of physics on it's side. Electric engines develop more torque the slower they go. Meaning the closer they come to 0 mph they start to approach infinite torque. Real world battery wattage and wire resistance prevents you from getting to infinite torque. In contrast gas engines have zero torque at 0 mph. Take a look at the torque specs on the average economy car Toyota Prius Hybrid, you'd be surprised! Electric engines also run much cooler than gas.

  • 0.0

  • But I'd rather be seen driving a Porsche...

  • omg an electric car that has an awesome acceleration but its autonomy sucks and even its recharge time. great.

  • Porsche is still better looking.

  • 300km later the porsche is still going and the electric car has been on charge for an hour. I know which one I'd rather drive. There's more to a car than a drag strip.

  • FATAL GEAR BOX !

  • Definitely a good car, but not a pussy magnet at all!

  • 8 Wheels !!

  • How about if ellica run on wet road? How can ellica's in-wheel motor resist the water?

  • @djremo100 Type "submerged electric motor" into Google! There's an entire class of electric motor that runs underwater, usually for pumps.

  • Make it look better and I'd buy it.

  • Not only does that car look like shit, but it also looks like SHIT.

  • man that shit is UGLY

  • I have an idea! Lets use six wheels instead of two on the EV for...increased rolling resistance. Yeah.

  • Still prefer the 911 Turbo, it looks better

  • @jbrige No mate... a Tesla Roadster has a SINGLE SPEED transmission but it's actually an 8.25: reduction gearbox that contains several gears between the motor output shaft and the drive shaft. Every time power is transmitted via a set of gears a significant % of energy efficiency is lost as heat.

  • @jbrige The EV has direct drive in-wheel motors. There are NO GEARS.

  • electric cars have no gears and it goes like 0 to oh i dont know 6000rpm in a split second.

  • lol I half expected Parker and Lady Penelope to step out when it pulled up.

  • Beautiful.

  • Yep, still ugly in a straight line. Now lets see it go around turns...

  • thats tight i dont give a fuck what it sounds like. its quick

  • how many double A batteries does it use again?

  • so does this car work under water???

  • WTF!?!? why does it need 8 wheels!?!? 8wd??? no wonder it's 0-60 is crazy all that grip it has!!!

  • I wanna hear something, and smell something when I floor my 69 charger.

I don't want to hear a fucking humming sound when I launch of in an electric car.

  • @jdog942 Nobody told you to buy one. It's an exercise in technology.

  • Eliica Electric Car is just a GREAT engineering car. This weird car have 8 electric motors that are located direct in wheels [each wheel = 1 motor] + an outstanding NM curve! that allow instant acceleration! + also no gears, where a normal car loose about 30-40 % of power. For this car even Murcielago or Veyron is no match.

  • japan may create the best car but not the looks of the carsIit is better , for pininfarina to design the looks of the car.

  • i hate ugly car.

  • the Enzo and Veyron would eat that thing twice in one quarter mile and shit out sushi

  • impressive, but ugly as a nanny mcphee.

  • Lets even this up and get a 996 Turbo with 640hp, I will tell you that the result will be different.

  • aver que lo comparen con el bugatti veyron super sports ..... aver si puede pasarlo tzz

  • car without noise is just like a bigmac without steak and sauces !

THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE, IT CAN'T BE REAL ! xD

  • hoto kay mari too, nazingo kato manoo????

  • wow... maybe... if the engine runs by gasolin...its leave the carbon onto the vlve n piston n thts cause sum ressitnce... but electrical.. gets the energy wth no resistance n therefore... this electrical car wins... this is only my opinion...hehehe

  • So, basically the Porsche out-accelerates the electric car for the first four seconds or thereabouts and then the electric car takes over. Looks to me like this has more to do with that goofy looking super aerodynamic body than that weird eight wheel drive setup that you would think would give it some amazing hole shot but didn't give it any hole shot at all.

  • @DoYouSeeWhy They're dead even by 2.8 sec and then the 911 AWD Turbo falls behind!

  • @DoYouSeeWhy I would assume the 8wd would reduce holeshot due to reduced contact pressure due to the larger surface area and the fact that it now has TWICE the rotating mass to get rolling. It looks pretty dumb to me.

  • @DoYouSeeWhy Agreed, it surely looks like a rolling turd.

  • @DoYouSeeWhy I noticed a measurable pause when the Porsche had to shift gears but none for the EV. This more than anything else caused the Porsche to fall behind. Because the EV doesn't seem to have a transmission (or can shift much faster) that allowed it to easily catch the Porsche.

  • 0:50 for start, thumbs up for future viewers.

  • Eliica looks like an actual whale.

  • @ImHereToAnnoyYou lol ahahahahaha

  • Next test. Which car can pull the chicks fastest?

  • The Eliica is a fantastic car imo.

It's got the right looks and a lot of speed.

  • Guessing 8 tires just to carry the battery pack and not for traction.

  • That electric thing is so heavy, but its still fast! It makes the Veyron look anorexic.

  • Eliica is just an experiment... For a cheap, good looking and faster-accelerating and handling car, just get a Tesla Roadster.

  • @ivaniclixx

Good looking and fast yes, but cheap, not really.

  • @FuRyZee oh,not really?how much does a carbon fiber, any porsche or ferrari capable of that accel cost?plus it uses really cheap and clean electricity.and the price of the petrol will keep raising... etc.

  • I think its more safety in that eliica

  • I knew electric cars were faster. Phuck american cars man.

  • Its... its... its...

    Justins Biebers mom

    :)

  • Thunderbird 8 is GO!

  • Umm yeah lets see this race after each car drives 200 miles down the freeway.... That electric car won't have shit left. I could beat that car on my bicycle...

  • awwww the piec of shit won

  • Fastest motherfucking limo in the world..lol

  • What's the message behind this?

    - Go fast but as ugly as possible

    - We have good engineers but are lacking a decent designer

    - We got 8 wheels on our car and 3 wheels on our bikes

    Just wondering

  • @breadbaker And a Veyron or Enzo are good looking cars? LOL

  • Yes they are!

  • @tsport100 I think they are beautiful looking cars, sleek and mean!

  • @tsport100 veyron is ugly looking car

  • @tsport100

But sincerely this car is extremely ugly, it goes full scale with it ugliness.

  • @breadbaker

I like the design quite a lot? it's refreshingm, mfuturistic and efficient

  • @breadbaker Form should ALWAYS follow function, not the other way around.

  • snap

  • design joke

  • would have thought the electric one is faster. Seems like the porsche was faster till the first gear shift.

  • its proven that motors have higher torque off the line but watch what happens when they both have to hold speed for multiple laps of a track

  • 0:03 "Holy shit".. pondering what this is in Japanese?

  • If you're going to call this Wonder Car UGLY, then let's recall the arguements regarding a certain XKE, 300SL, Terraplane, Tucker----- hellO!

  • Why did they have to make it so ugly?

  • Ugly as sin!! Obviously fast though. Lots -o- torque.

  • The same people calling the electric car ugly are the same one's that wouldn't marry an unattractive woman who keeps a clean house, cooks like a chef and can be an amazing lover. Looks aren't everything, while all of us would love to "marry" the Porsche I'll take practicality over attractiveness every time.

  • @airfresno If you're gonna go for practicality, then you'll be wanting a Renault or something. You've come to the wrong video!

  • put the electric blaster in race track with turns .... WITH PORSHE and give a video... in drag race its 100% sure win ELECTRIC with 8 tures ! OMG?!

  • now do it over 1500m =]

  • dont waste time go to 0:45

  • the porsche stop at 54 mph thats y he got a smoke

  • Well.. But which of the cars would cover 400miles the fastest?;o)

..and the electrical car makes even cars like the Porsche Panamera look GOOD. It's butt ugly man..

That said: i'm really impressed with what electrical powered cars do now a days, this one included.

  • electric cars sucks.. you dont hear the engine whats the fun of that?

  • @blower069 the acceleration, my dad owns a tesla, and it freaking owns!

  • @zqzezima still not fun...

  • @blower069 yeah it sure is! it is in 3,7 sec on 100km/h, you are thrown into your seat like hell, and that never gets boring;)

  • @zqzezima and its still sucks you dont hear the engine growl and stuff like that electric cars sounds anoying

  • Read more about the ultimate aero EV. it is 1000hps and accelerate from 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds. has range of 150-200 miles on a single charge and charge time is only 10 minutes!!! thanks to new nanotechnology!

  • Comes down to more tyres = more traction and electric= more linear acceleration

  • damn!! UFO lol!!

  • Can't beat electric motors for torque!

Check out the Porsche 918 Spyder -- a hybrid supercar with ridiculous specs.

  • the eliica looks like it should be on Caprica

  • AHAHAH WTF was with 2ed gear, my ford ZX2 could kill that thing.

  • @doomboy829 no it couldn't

  • horrible shift from 1st to second gear for the 911~~~~~

  • 8 wheel drive wow thats something else

  • Electric cars have a single gear and hence linear power delivery. Manual shifts will always cause a slight lapse in acceleration.

  • Geez! 8 wheels. Talk about grip.

  • egoism of western people that tend to belittle others achievement is something that totally unaccepted! wake up guys..you are not the only people that can be pioneering in everything..

  • Then again, it may not be pretty, but that fast...who cares?

  • That has got to be one of the ugliest cars ever made. And Im not talking about the porsche.

  • @kanervatie Then, come up with a design yourself if you're so good at it!

  • @spectrospirit I can do that.

  • Stay in school kid.....

98% of Lead Acid batteries are recycled. LOL

  • the style of the car is not good, mabe reduce the wheels and weight, the car would still be as fast.

  • Actually they need that amount of wheels because its magnetic power on the wheels that moves the car. But it sure isnt a pretty car.haha

  • not really... it's about balance between wheels and batteries, every wheel is also one engine...so they would be almost the same fast I suppose.

  • Must be a pain to change the tyres

  • elica 800cv, porsche turbo 480cv, que comparacion es esta?

  • Read 'more info' Ellica is 640 hp and 2400 kg. The 911 is only 1580 kg

  • mmmh only 8 Tyres? lets put some more on it! lol

  • kk wow me too il pay 10 million for a car and put 6 wheels on it no shit it would beat it lol

  • driving a porsche as supposed to an ice cream van, no contest

  • Eliica is 2X the price of the 911, so money is also important here. With a 612 Scaglietti the test would be more realistic.

  • Of course, it's the price that makes it go faster than the 911. . .

    lol

  • it is twice the price because eliica uses a technology that in this moment (2005) is very expensive, but in future will have a much more cheaper price for sure and I hope this soon as possible

  • You know damn well that if there exists a super-powered electric car with this kind of performance that there not only exists electric cars for regular road use, but that they're being kept from reaching the public.

  • the reason electric cars arent widely available is because they have short range, and they take a long time to charge.

  • with all the torque they tough they needed more axle

  • lithium powered and 12,000 rpm

  • the fastest mini-van in the world

  • The specifications are amazing but the looks are awfull :(. Put it in a good looking package ! :)

  • not true this drag

  • Let's see the electric car handle better than the 911 XD.

  • Actually slow.

Peoples expectation value of fast has been poisoned by 90yrs of the ricepricating engine, where in practise EVERY other type of engine is quicker per volume right from gas turbines to rotary wankels to electric motors as in this case....

  • If you want fast and good looks, they should've put the Tesla Roadster on there

  • I didn't like it to begin with, but it's actually quite attractive in it's own way. Like you wouldn't love to see this beast drive past!

  • Maybe it's faster than porsche, but look like shit.

  • 2 and a half tonne??!!!

Bet that goes well around corners.

    Saludos.

  • FAST but UGLY

  • I disagree. I think it's beautiful!

  • makes me think a the song "U G L Y you aint got no alibi, U ugly "

  • 'NO. Its is a master piece.. At that I love how it is built its not going to fall apart on you like other cars will. It was well built and has enough balls to be counted as a BIG TRUCK.

  • Fantastic, great performance...

  • but where the heck are you going to park that electric train ?!

  • We saw the drag race, how about 24 hr of LeMons? ;)

  • it is like. engines start up and gradually get their power. when u plug in an electric motor it goes straight to full power

cant w8 till they make commercial electric cars liekt hsi

  • electric beats gas

  • we all know that an electric motor can do thousands of rpm and full torque from zero, the acceleration will steady till it reach it's maximum speed. and with just a little hissing sound lol

but they should make a better battery for EVs, like 10 minutes of charging for 500kms

  • A123 cells CAN charge to 80% in 5 mins... and see the numerous tzero videos on my channel... it has a range of 300 mile (500km)

  • wow thats very nice :)

how about the price? still above $100k ? :(

  • @ngentotsemua exactely!

  • nice car :)

Only if they could make long lasting, cheap batteries to simply switch at the "gas station".

    One day...

  • i bet the fuel industry is lobbying heavily against electric cars. There is a lot of money involved in providing petrol to the consumer. The only one profiting from an electric car is the consumer. But who really cares about the consumer, unless you can milk money from him/her?

  • Ignorance is the cause of cynicism.

EVs are 1/10th the cost per mile of running an ICE, why do you think that is? Because they use 1/10th the energy to do the same work. An ICE powered car is only 15% efficient at the wheels... that's pathetic.

There are batteries made by A123 that charge in under 5 mins... and the Tesla has a range of over 385 kms at a cost of $5.00 to 'fill up'

Take the opportunity to LEARN something.

  • uh, fuel is limited, there's more than enough fuel in the world, but most of it would cost way too much money to drill for, electric is the future as the supply of fuel will eventually run out

  • Why u lying about someting u know noting about ? They already build a buss where i live and work for 4 h without changing the batery pack (take 15 min to change) and 2h to recharge. So is working realy well and they planning to have some in the city.

  • And for producing electricity we need ? coles, or nuclear power plants ... . For now, anyway. I would say this is a little step forward. Though a Belgian already reached a 100 kph in an electrical car in 1899, but ... you know

  • Notice the speed of the Porche from the beginning until both reach 92Kmh...the Porsche is spinning it's tires accounting for the faster speed...but the Eliica has no such shortcoming.

That is one awesome, beautifully sculptured automobile!

  • Porsche got beat by a retarded looking car

  • well, looks indeed a little arkward. But I guess I could get used to it.

  • it looks like the eliica has less acceleration that the porsche but more top end speed

  • mercsan you are the idiot just for saying fuck the planet. what about your kids and their kids? If the future of the planet were left to cavemen like you we'd all be fucked in 30 years, good job you not intelligent then eh? Enviro saving cars are here to stay no matter what. People dont really want to but we've all got to change our ways because people like you have been raping the planet for years. So grow up.

  • You obviously don't study things like planet earth. It will be here for many more millions of years, wether or not humans are going to be on it or not. My guess is not.

  • your not wrong, the advantages with hydrogen are the emmisions, and the fact you are not dependant on an external fuel source to create the electricity.if you read my comments, you will see i made no reference as to whether i was for or against them,as an engineer i have my own views,(give me big v8 anyday)there are pros and cons to hydrogen, the negatives are storage of the fuel, distribution, any protototype cost millions, but with out prototypes you dont get vehicles in the consumer maker,.

  • Do you even know how most hydrogen is made?? From Natural Gas.

EVs use 1/10th to 1/20th the kw/hr consumed by ICEs so they quite logically result in a 90-95% reduction in CO2. NOT forgetting dirty power is only 1/2 the supply, electricity is a fairly generic product to produce, even in your own backyard.

  • why dont they make all cars like that.... we would all save the earth!
