  • I ran across this plane up for sale did you buy it or are you saling it?

  • Hey dude how I Just stumbled across this video for the first time in a while. I forgot how bad ass it is. I am going to be passing though in either my Carbon Cub or my Maule a few times this winter and was wondering if your plane is ready to go yet. It would be fun to get out and do some flying. Was the last time you flew it when I followed you back home? BTW I lost your # so PM or email it to me if you get a chance.

  • @lameusernameguy check your email

  • Awesome video...if you ever make it up around KTKI north of Dallas I'd love to fly with ya!

  • @bhenny29 thanks. I'll keep it in mind!

  • I found this vidio a couple months a go and i can not quit watching it .i own a m-4 210c. i have not flown the love of my life in years. this motivates me to get her finished soon.

  • @n714xj thanks for the kind comment. I'm actually in the same boat as you. I'm in the final stages of a complete airframe up restoration of this plane. The only thing necessary to finish our projects is the will to do so! Let's get 'em done and go fly together soon!

  • So that's what heaven looks like...

  • I'm a little disappointed. I've seen Super Cubs take-off in about 20 foot.

The music to this vid really SUCKS!

  • This seriously looks like a Murphy Rebel...

  • -Wonderful plane an piloting, --but why did they destroy the sound-track with that terribly inappropriate monkey-musik crap...???

  • Thanks AryanKnight! Not sure what u mean about the musik?? but I like that u like it.

  • @AryanKnight i quite agree with you that is some monkey crap music it is not suitable for this video

  • Music goes well with the video!!!

  • @patcism thanks! Means something coming from you given your background. Glad ya liked it.

  • @patcism What'th, no the music most of us want to hear is the environmental sounds of the wind, wheels-touching, motor, propeller, commentary by the pilot; ---and that's IT don't you see...!!!

  • Totally in love with this airplane. If I lived near you, I'd probably be your best bud. lol

  • @ejlister I need all the best buds I can get!

  • Sorry but if you want to see STOL, search for "STOL Flying CH701"

  • @hubbardr1 you can't pack out two hunters, gear, and a dead moose in a 701... besides they look stupid and a nosewheel is hard to justify in sketchy terrain. It's just not a REAL airplane. It's like a blown up RC. Perhaps the 801... but they still look stupid... and ramp appeal counts for a lot.

  • @proscllc lol... got me there. no doubt. But man as long as they are empty, no nearby radio interference, and you're blind, there's no better STOL. :)

  • @hubbardr1 OK... now we're in total agreement. Well put!

  • @proscllc wait... you put yourself and fellow hunter, gear, and a dead moose in maule and got it off the ground? Just its head or somethin?

  • @proscllc Looks like fun.

  • @hubbardr1

Sorry but this is a Maule!

  • Thanks guys!

  • You american guys know how to play with airplanes ,looks like great fun .

  • Very nice!

  • Oh no dont pop a tire in that dirt.

  • @proscllc...backatcha, man.

  • @proscllc...I gotta say; That blue'n'yellow plane has "rugged" written all over- in an' out! Have fun 2 th' max n' be thee safe out in th' bush...

  • @SittingMooseShaman... I gotta say... "RUGGED" (one of my favorite words!) is in short supply in our society anymore. Thanks for the kind words.

  • Outstanding viedo. practice makes perfect

Having done this myself, I know, for me brake peddle pressure, judgment and timing was the hardest part I had to work on. Can't wait to see your next video.

  • ...well, I've a set of those 'MickeyMouse' wheels and tires... Just gonna hafta build the rest... or put the wheels on a mobility-chair... I'll be a bush-cripple!

  • WOW! I just started my lessons. That looks like fun.

  • @CaptnDave69u lots of fun awaits you. Good luck!

  • Come on out west and we'll play around together. Thanks for the compliments. Rebuild is ongoing and temporarily on hold... check out some photos at offairportaviators dat org. Go to photos and click Maule Rebuild

  • Oh, that's right you are rebuilding. I'm thinking the same after I complete my RV10 this month (man, that's amazing to say). I don't have hangar room for both but I have plenty of shop space.... how did the rebuild go? If it can be seen somewhere, I'm very interested.

  • Sweet! I've been flying my little MX7180a every day for the past month with the "top down", i.e. the pilot's door off. If you haven't tried it, you should. FAA legal to fly the MX7 with any 1 door off. May be same for M4. Wish I had some where to go play here in NC but there's not a lot of off airport options - left that behind with sailplane racing. But low and slow and fooling around is still the best! Nicely done all around.

  • BRAVISIMO!!!

  • you have great taste in aircraft. a gorgeous plane

  • Did I not see you doing a sideslip with full flaps? That is dangerous isnt it? I owned and flew an Aeronca champ, so i know sideslips WELL!! Great flying though, I respect a low n slow pilot.

  • @ricglos Thanks.... slips with flaps is allowed in the Maule.

  • Thanks... glad you liked it. It'll be flying again soon after a total restoration. Stay tuned.

  • Airplane: Awesome...Flying: Even MORE Awesome......Music: I vote for Stevie Ray Vaughan next time. Very good though!

  • I loved the tail up turns that's the proper way to show off. Nothing fancy but showing you know what you're doing.

  • @prosclic Love your Video!! My old man is flying one back to the UK soon. Should be interesting.

  • I love how you keep the tail up till you've stopped. I'd love to be able to do that - looks badass.

  • @jamlip Thanks... (you do that with brake action)

  • @proscllc Yeah, but you got to have big coconuts to start. I'm going to practice this (and work on enlarging my coconuts).

  • @jamlip :-)) Good mindset... come on out and we'll work on enlarging your coconuts together.

  • @proscllc I'd have to get my POS crate across the Atlantic first. It'd be a long flight...

  • @jamlip Roger that... until then... I'll be here...

  • Why add music (in most cases just noise) to a videoclip? It has nothing to do with the subject and is just ugly and disturbing. I most of the time skip such clips as I do with the ones that start with commercials since google is the boss here.

  • @WimAlberts I add music to the videos because... 1) I like it and its my video. 2) It gets ugly and disturbing viewers to skip such clips. 3) it's standard practice in the 21st century since all professional editors blend music with video. 4) I like the feedback the non-whiners give me about my videos. and 5) Vomiting out raw video clips is the work of lazy amateurs. I do understand your point, though... hitting that mute button is such an insurmountable burden.

  • Is that legal to land in a nonairport area like that?

  • Thanks, Guys. yep, the gear is a heavy duty replacement for the factory main gear. Expensive, but much better than original! IMO... it needed a little more cowbell. ;)

  • bad ass, the gear looks like it can sure take a side load.

  • kick ass song! kick ass flying!

  • What type of Maule is this?

  • Maule = The Plane With Exactly The Right Amount Of Cowbell.

  • @hammerogod what's Cowbell?

  • @dbowie2007

    /watch?v=q4royOLtvmQ

  • the only thing is where is the snow, bears, moose, and mountains I'm up in Alaska , my daughter came up last summer and watched a J3Super cub land on a gravel bar the pilot got out and asked about the fishing. That amazed her that he would land just to find out about the fishing. FISHING GOOD ,CATCHING BETTER

  • @matsubear... cool. I've landed for even more mundane reasons. Like... in a plowed field to cut off a group of wild hogs just to get an up close view.... or... an open spot for my wife to "deal with" the coffee she drank when the nearest facility was an hour+ away... Then there are times when the icing clouds go all the way to the ground, so we just "pull over" in a field and wait it out. No problem and no need to force anything searching for a landing spot.

  • Enough HP + High Lift Devices + Favorable Winds = You can get a Brick to go straight up.

    I love Maules.

A Maule M-7 with a Lyc IO-540-V4A5 is my dream.

I'll never have one, but I can dream.

  • @hammerogod Why not to start with a Piper Cub 3 or something like that? they are way cheaper and it's a good way to start your dream

  • STOL stands for Short Take Off's/Landings right?

  • Looks like a great all-terrain-airplane with those tires!

  • Sweet

  • @MOJONIXION ...thanks

  • COW!!!!! Sorry...couldn't help myself...great plane and video!

  • Like the dodging the brush, that's awesome. I could use those skills to dodge deer on the runway around here.

  • @grissomairport ... glad ya noticed that... most don't. That's all in the busy, happy feet.

  • hey nice maule is it a maule m4

  • Ferocious control.

  • @tsbrownie THANKS. Great compliment.

  • @proscllc I used to pride myself on beating Cessna's specs on stock 152's / 172's and KNOW what it takes to fly it to the numbers under difficult conditions, but that ain't nuthin' like this!

  • Fuse and fabric is all done. Building the new engine now. Hope to hang that next week.

  • how is the rebuild coming along?

  • Brings back fond memories, Have you got the 20/40 flap ratchet? You can get that bird off really short with 40 degrees of flap.

Also I learned after many off airport hours up in AK the best short field landing technique is to slow it up to where you approach with a very nose high attitude and use power. The tailwheel should be hanging down a foot below the maingear and your tailwheel will touch first then the mains will bounce down once or twice.

You'll find with those VG's the stall speed low.

  • Nice big wheels but the takeoff run is still pretty long...

  • @THEMAN080 you're right. That prop is a cruise prop so that will change with the rebuild. This area is at about 3000' ASL and DA was about 4500' that day so don't compare it it to low elevation ops.

  • Thanks y'all. The rebuild I'm doing on this plane is about half complete. I've recovered the new fuselage after powdercoating it. Just hung a new firewall and the new engine will be built and go on soon. Keep watching...

  • What a beaut!

  • Awesome bud and love that maule!

  • yikes! learning? looks like either running into different surface or hitting the brakes to much. looked scary. Good job though!

  • nice. looks like you had fun. thnks 4 sharing

  • Very cool video. Spongiest tyres ever!

  • Dang that looks fun! Love that country.

  • perfect song

  • Thanks! You're right... worth every minute to learn the right way. I'm rebuilding the plane now. It will be a real performer in anoither few months!

  • if one wants to learn to fly, this video provides adequate inspiration...;-)

  • Nice plane, but the music's the problem. What's wrong with the sounds of the engine?

  • what song

  • all i know is it's 3 doors down

  • @peckcrai Three doors down - not enough

  • How often do you get a prop strike doing that?

  • @steve1428

depends on the pilot right? bu tit can very a lot

  • @steve1428 never... at least ... YET. Balancing braking with power keep the tail where it needs to be.

  • @steve1428 Very often, so often in fact, they carry 10+ extra props in the back...

  • Nice video! I got a friend in AK with a clipped wing and tail wheel Maule. I got to get up there and fly it!

  • Cool ! Thought so, I have lived in the panhandle most of my life. By the way, really like the plane hope to have one like it one day.

  • damn, you've got it made pal! Love that Maule, oh and the lightspeed zulu makes it so much nicer to be in I bet.

  • @outraged70 yep... and the tunes from the iPod enhance the activity immeasurably!

  • Is that off of the canadian or red river (panhandle of Texas)

  • The Red

  • Aeroplan&boots is very comfortabl in river.

  • amazing how far from van horn, tex?

  • Well North a few hours

  • What are the takeoff & landing distances? And what is the useful load?

    just curious.

    Nice Plane!

  • At 3200' AGL...TO in 300' Land in 250'. Useful load is 900 lbs.

  • Thanks!

  • you mean Msl?

  • Yep...MSL, not AGL. Thanks for catching that.

  • nice plane though, wish I had some money!

  • Thanks. You're right, it is an awesome machine. The reason I'm selling is I own four planes (counting an ultralight) so....

  • hold one for me for about oh 3 years then I'll have my pilots license. I'll come down to texas and pick it up! : )

just curious, whatcha got? I love maules.

  • whats the reason for selling the beauty???

i wish my dad and i could afford her! man what an awesome aircraft..

  • Nice song and plane how much for the plane?

  • $49,500 delivered.

  • thats pretty cheap! give me the exact website.

  • I wish i could have that plane.

  • i love the colors, hope i have one on these someday

  • who needs a 120ft wide runway when you could have all this terrain to yourself?

  • Nice little rocket.

  • Dang, that looks like fun.
