a few years back (think it was in the times.. may have been the sun..i dunno) that they showed a sketch that is classed as 'non pc' by spike and a few more comics of his time to a multi race audience of 120 people. After the clips were shwon they asked each of them how they felt about the clips. They found that the races that were featured in the clips didnt find it racist. Yet the races that wern't featured said it was racist. When i find the link ill come back and post it -_-

Absolutely wonderful sketch - one of Spike's best! He always said he didn't understand why the Beeb wouldn't repeat his shows. Some of the top executives (who wouldn't know something funny if it fell on them) didn't like it, and refused to acknowledge the incredible contribution to comedy Spike made. Maybe that's still the case now.

The BBC hated the Q series and never got the absurdist humour it espoused.

More sadly: Spike and Eric Sykes wrote a series, about two old Variety comedians trying to make a comeback in the age of alternative humour.

They sent it to the BBC.

It was returned, barely read, with "NOT FUNNY" written in red ink across the front page :-(

But Jonathan Ross and Russel Brand were oh just so hilarious, weren't they??? With their swearing, obscene 'phone calls and multi-million pound contracts.

Why the hell isn't Q5-9 and There's A Lot Of It About available on DVD? Spike influenced the Pythons, and there's now a whole generation who are totally oblivious to the genius of his his TV work.
