It's very nice ! Hop 5 stars ! It's the better instrumental music of Loituma ( Sorry for my bad english, I'm Swiss ( langue french ) ) Thanks for your "talents" ( in french )
Actually it's a mandolin, but the round body and round sound hole do make it look a little bit like a small lute. Definite cosmetic resemblance, but a different instrument.
And you definetely made mine by sharing your fantastic video, and probably the best leva's polka remix on youtube! Keep up the good work, and you have definetely got a new fan! :)
Sorry I'm a little late writing this, but thanks for the comments. Matt (guitar) and I loved playing music together for many years. He's still one of my best friends and shares my love of old music. I really enjoyed your comments! :-)
No, but I'd LOVE to! I've been a musician all my life, but not much of a musicologist, much LESS an ethnomusicologist! But as a language student Finnish language and culture fascinates me. OK, so maybe I'm just a little strange!
Aww...I'm glad you liked it! We smile because we're good buddies, and yeah practice went OK, thanks! Now quit 'swooning' or you're gonna make me get shaky on my feet...and I can't AFFORD much of that these days!
*giggle* I like it when a man is shaky on his feet!!! HEHE ~ Since you posted so many videos that I'm just now catching up on, you may not be able to walk by the time I'm done with you! (HOPING)! lol
Just so ya know I can't WALK in any kind of proper way as it IS, so I'm a pretty easy target! Not that I'm EASY, but just DON'T you go trying to exploit the handicapped!
Thanks! It's a new one for us and is definitely gonna be on our next CD. There's a nice traditional a capella version of this tune to be found if you do a YT search for Loituma. FUN stuff...
That's funny because the majority of music that Jen and I play as For Love or Money is over 100 years old, and some of it is more than 500 years old! But originality depends greatly on context and packaging! Thanks, Richard!
ARRRR...Shiver me timbers, matey! Did I mention that we also play Pirate-themed events, which are pretty popular these days because of the recent pirate movies and have ALWAYS been popular in Florida due to our pirate-tinged history!
One of the things I love most, besides writing and playing my OWN music, is getting together with a really great friend and doing fun music that we can take out and give to people! I can't HELP but smile when I'm playing with my buddy Jen...and I've been doing it for over 10 years, so I guess that means something!
This one is new to us, but it's a very popular Finnish folk song. Do yourself a favor and do a YouTube search for Loituma. They do an awesome version and there are links to all kinds of crazy renditions of it as well!
