I just moved here to Markdale. My mother in law just told me that this tornado practically went through my new backyard. I'm back against the cemetery. She told me her mother and herself came here the 2 days after it went through to see the damage done to the cemetery cause her family is buried here and they counted 47 trees torn up in there but not one headstone was damaged that they could see.
I l=lived on Grey rd 12 last year, but at the north side,on the Goring corner. That storm was wild. My younger brother was in the Markdale Library during the tornado. I'm very relieved that there wasn't any more injuries. Having said that, I'm a storm nut, and have to say that it was well worth watching.
how far did it go down grey 12 towards owen sound? i have a farm down that was and was just wondering. i live in northern ontario and visit down there
Thanks for posting this. We have seen lots of Durham pics, but very few of the damage in Markdale. Leeson's roof was really damaged. Looks like it missed the old Markdale firehall bldg.
Looks like money wise Durham got hit worse, these are just trees.
Craigleith/Victoria corners got hit pretty hard well, a lot of apple orchards got destroyed in Victoria Corners and outbuildings at Georgian Peaks Ski Club as well as about 5 chalets got destroyed.
I would have agreed with that until I saw the outskirts of Markdale. A few barns missing and a house is half there...the other half unknown where it is. Could be though.
Although....it was NOT "just trees". One farmer is missing half his livestock....or so the rumors say anyways.

@Seliquin Welcome to Markdale then! Yeah I saw the damage done to the cem as well. Amazing that none of the tombstones were damaged.
Enjoy your stay.

Durhams damage was more localized. Markdales was much more widespread.

Yeah it's pretty crazy. They showed aerial pictures of Durham today, something like 20 houses are completely destroyed.
