I randomly typed this into youtube search thinking someone had to have recorded this. I was there when this happened. I remember people running away from it like it was king kong. I was young...was pretty scary.
i was at cedar point when this happened. I worked in a lumber yard home improvement so later in the week i got stuck cleanin up the mess from that series of storms.
I remember driving across the Cedar Point Causeway going to pick up my friends younger sister that day. The water spout was right in the bay, if you were to look to your left when driving down the Causeway it may have been half mile out or so. I remember that I was kind of freaked out, thought it was a tornado!

I saw them that day. There was 5 of them .First 2 were small, the next 3 were bigger and last one was getting bigger as it went over the Bay. And didnt lost its power as it went over Cedar Point Causeway. Was a scary day.
Just a week before a waterspout was near Port Clinton and came ashore and turned into a tornado and went all the way towards Fremont.

I was at Cedar Point when that was coming across the bay, if you wanted to see mass histeria you should have been there! Will never forget that day as long as I live! I knew someone had to have a good video of it and you confirmed that! Thanks for the memory and a view from the safer side! Got great still photos of it. BTW you also confirmed that more than one was spotted because you got a shot of a second funnel aloft!

I was there back in Early June of 2002 when we had a close encounter with a waterspout. It came to within a half mile of the park. It did little damage but we had a wind gust of 76mph..damanged some things but mainly blew alot of debris around the Midway.

hey... I was there when that happened. My friends and I were on the "Raptor" rollar coaster when we looked over and it started forming. By the time we got off it was completly formed.
I was there, on the Disaster Transport that day. It came fast. We were in line, they threw us out of the building and didn't even tell us why. The weather was almost mild, we couldn't figure out what the big deal was until we saw the first spout -- there was also a funnel cloud over land snaking down into the front parking lot. I was running from that funnel cloud when I saw the one coming toward the Raptor. I can't even believe someone took video of this. I will never forget that day.
I was there too! You guys missed the actual funnel cloud forming over the parking lot near the Disaster Transport--we got kicked off that ride. I was running away from the dropping funnel cloud when we saw the water spout behind the Raptor. They were everywhere that day. It was horrifying.
Man i love sandusky ohio i love cedar point,they have that 60's resturant in the park i think its call johnny rockets its really fun.And cast awy bay is fun to.
i remember this storm, my family used to have a boat out of battery park marina in sandusky, and we were out on the north side of kelly's island that day, and we waited for the water spouts to fade away, and then we had to go back to our marina with one engine out of gas, so we had to go back to cedar point marina instead, and i could see from a distance away how everyone from the south and from far away was horrified, yet i was calm and i was like 6 at the time
This was my 1st trip ever to Cedar Point. Everyone in the park was running and screaming. Everyone clapped when it faded, until several more dropped down. This was followed by a big time thunderstorm. AWESOME video, we have pics, the newspaper and now video. Thanks from Louisville, KY
I was actually at cedar point that day. That largest one was 1 of 4 that touched down at once. All surrounding the park. The first and biggest one went right through the Mean Streak and down the pioneer trail towards the train station.

Thanks for posting that. I was at the park that day and seemed a lot closer to it. At the end of your video when it lifts up into the clouds, I remember it drifted right over us like that. We ran to the beach to get away from it and there were a couple smaller ones farther out to sea. We were surrounded!!ha. Amazing experience.
So pretty, but still a little scary. :) I've seen one on Lake Michigan but it wasn't nearly as impressive.

I believe the only difference between a normal tornado and a water spout is that the water spout opens over water not land.
