  • instead of fresh coconut milk ; if coconut milk powder is to be used then wat will be the difference?

  • Thank you so much for all of these recipes. I love cooking with coconut milk—it really brings an amazing flavor to the table.

  • i would suggest adding more shrimp, other than that, beautiful

  • The recipe is very bland. I tried it. 2 suggestions -

    1. Add a little garlic paste along with the minced ginger.

    2. Add 4 green chillies (split into half) into d dish . Adds a little more spice and taste.

  • @bloodofcurse Who made you GOD? These women have a right to speak without having to alter their voice to please you...selfish idiot.

  • why did they made a kinky teasing on size matters while describing shrimp's size!?

  • Malai=Malay. FYI

  • @donbosc sorry, malai doesn't refer to malay (malai= মালাই, মালয়=malay)

  • size does matter. wow

  • i love this recipe. I usually stop right after the green chillies are added. Just my personal opinion this recipe goes much better with rice than chappati (perhaps cause I am bengali :PPPPPPPP)

  • "size does matter" *giggling "oh that's a large bay leaf" *more giggling

all your giggling is making me giggle too! btw, recipe is great! I can't wait to try it.

  • Since the shrimp cooks for ten minutes in the sauce gravy, can you simply put the shrimp in there raw and seasoned? I can see why you would cook/char the shrimp in the pan (more flavor), though I am curious.

  • Size does matter Anuja in naughty mood ;-)

  • Thank you very much for this video. I have tried this step by step and my Echa(shrimp) it turned out yummy....nice work aunty g.

  • yes affa !!! Nice recipe

  • I have a real BIG BAYLEAF!!!!!!!LOL

  • Gud one........nevr seen chingri malai curry with onions!!!

  • Interesting preparation.........................have never seen a Chingri malai curry with onions!!!

  • hey y do u use add coconut milk? is possible to cook without it?

  • @mamun740 : The main flavor is from the Coconut milk. This recipe is from the coastal regions where there is abundance of coconuts and it is used in a lot of dishes.

    Enjoy!

  • @ShowMeTheCurry if size matters indians have the least size hahaha, u must be married to africans.

  • Yum!

  • What kind of oil do you prefer for this dish?

  • @Zutara795

If you have mustard oil, it would be the best. Otherwise canola oil works as well.

  • thanks

  • ok, heads up... Malaycurry has nothing to do with creaminess or preparation of the dish as you state. This recipe has its roots from Malay (present day Malaysia), brought to Bengal by sea farers.

  • Really nice! Mustard oil is a must. The ghee really adds to the finale.

  • Want Shrimp Pakora Recipe please!

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Can you please post the recipe for Mishti Doi ?

  • Yummy!!!!!

  • Wouldn't the shrimp get tough if they are cooked that long? I can't wait to try this.

  • @FrodoDojo : One would think so but no! The shrimps are so juicy and succulent and the gravy keeps them from getting over cooked and drying up. Enjoy :)

  • excellent

  • That's good stuff, but what happened to mustard oil? Bengali cooking is all about mustard oil.

  • @fastferrari007

A Bengali friend shared this recipe with us...we followed it exactly.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Fair enough, perhaps you should check with your friend maybe she forgot to mention about mustard oil. Mustard oil makes all the difference ....try it next time. The recipe as I said looks good.

  • @fastferrari007

We will definitely give it a shot...thanks for the suggestion.

  • A great video on my iPad. I'm amazed with the quality. Equally a big fan of the show.

  • Hi I love all of your videos. Delicious recipes. I was wondering how come I didn't see any curry leaves or powder? Or is that included in the garam masala? Please give me your advice. Thank you.

  • @CreativeD23

Curry leaves and curry powder are not the same. Curry powder is just a generic name for a blend of spices (and it does not have curry leaves in it). Actually, Indian food rarely contains "curry powder" that you pick up from store. When we say "Shrimp Curry", it is really a saucy shrimp preparation as opposed to a dry dish.

  • also can i use precooked shrimp for this recipe? thanks guys...love your show...

  • @marushacruz

You should be able to use cooked shrimp...just skip the first step.

  • how do you make ghee?

  • @marushacruz

We have a video on how to make Ghee. Please check our youtube channel or our website ShowMeTheCurry (dot) com.

  • those aren't actually bay leaves I think what the ladies are using are called tej patta?

  • Ladies, your recipes are awesome! I tried this dish, along with your paneer and chicken tikka. Everything turned out well (especially the appetizers, which were a hit). I also used your mint recipe (switched it with cilantro and added honey and some olive oil). Thank you for your recipes and videos!

  • I believe that a bay leaf doesn't add any flavor to any dish. I would guess that a person couldn't distinguish between the same dish made with bay leaves or without. That's a great experiment.

  • that shrimp will be so overcooked

  • Ladies, I just cooked this dish and its soooooooooooooo good.I will definitely try the others.

  • i like the improved editing of this video! :) usually I thought you ladies sound a little too soft for my laptop's speakers. Probably my laptop's fault. haha..but thank you anyway! :)

  • Thanks for sharing the recipe,

    Taste's & look's nice will try.

  • Yummy, I loved it.

  • Please post some brown rice receipes.

  • @garima1010 brown rice brown rice lol Indians don't eat brown rice!

  • @celticraider1 do you have any problem???I know many indians who prefer brownrice in place of white rice...Let the ladies respond to my request why are you responding

  • @garima1010 Who am I? I am an expert on sub continental cuisine, I own 6 restaurants, brown rice is a crazy western fad, Indians, Bangladeshis, and Pakistanis do not eat brown rice, they like food that tastes nice, brown rice does not

  • @celticraider1 ohhh...so that's why u are so much interfering...seems like u have a habit to poke your nose in other's matter...you must be a big shot in ur own world i dn't care....my question was not for you...so i will still say KEEP OUT.

  • @garima1010 owe and not to brag, but I have 2 Michelin stars!!!!!

  • @garima1010 Some Indians [mainly Tamils] and Sri lankans eat red rice not brown

  • @celticraider1 I am still not clear why you have problem with my question.Who are you to reply to my question?Keep out.

  • great recipe, easy to follow. can't wait to try this.

  • Hey ladies, Just wondering.... cooking the shrimps initially for 5 minutes, then again for 10 minutes as the curry is brought to a boil - Does this not over cook the shrimps and make them chewy ?

  • @DRNDPATEL that's a good question... wouldn't you add the shrimp late, so as not to overcook them?

  • Size does matter ... heehee! You girls are funny, which is why I enjoy watching your videos as opposed to just looking at a cookbook (well, and of course, your instruction and recipes are also pitch-perfect). This looks quite good!

  • Very appetizing!! Thx for the posting.

  • Mouthwatering

  • Quick and easy ... I love it!
