@ElmoShoopDaWoop You need to have alternative weapon on, and when you are the helicopter pilot and aim your crosshairs in the tracer square (if you are within distance for it) the hellfire will lock on and hit the tank.

@dspartan1 It's a special weapon attachment, without the special weapon you can't fire Hellfires, either. It just gives you a dartgun on the bottom of the vehicle that the gunner controls.

@lolisho0 you think it's better that tracer darts shoot out at the same time you shoot the 30mm cannon., only on ps3 BTW xbox360 has it's own dedicated button that fires tracers. you are dumb as hell if you think the ps3 way is better, I wish PS3 had a button specially for firing tracer darts instead of having to plant them when firing the 30mm cannon.

@Brinkspaz The Blackhawk does have something else. You have to equip the smoke spec. When you're in a Blackhawk it releases flares to make locked on missiles disengage the aircraft.

if u wanna fire the tracers from the chopper if u r using a ps3, u just have to shoot with the canon. it will randomly send out tracers after some shots. u can hear it when u shoot and u can spot it flying with the bullets from the gun. i think it is the same for xbox 360

I've used Hellfires a bit but I thought they required the pilot to stay zeroed on the tracer until the distance marker actually shows up. Didn't know you can just designate it as a target by glancing at it and then fire-and-forget...

@leralon R1 on PS3 fires the tracer dart. The dart shoots out randomly with the rounds from the chain gun. Just put your cross hair on the tank and hold down R1, eventually you will get the text at the bottom of the screen saying +30 points for attaching tracer dart to the vehicle.

@pauliazz94 It fires the tracer randomly among the shots. I have it on PS3 aswell and i know that the tracer will randomly be fired among the other shots. As long as you have alternate weapon unlock. Try to fire all your shots at a tank and you will eventually hear your guy saying something like "Yeah, that target is lit up" or something else. If you pay attention you can even hear the tracer being fired. Hope this helps:)

@shugnst I was able to do it now in PS3, i went to the gunner and just zoom the cannon, fire and 1 of the bullets or maybe all of them are Tracer bullets. Im not sure but everytime i zoom it in in the gunners position it fires tracers and you will hear the pilot saying the vehicle is lit up. Nah im not that very good but i just love hitting enemies with Hellfires. Im only able to do spinning around in enemy base while firing rockets, but still not good at it since enemy can still hit me.

"Tracer darts have no bullet drop", which is correct. Every other bullet type does have bullet drop but i've counter-sniped just by shooting a tracer straight into that sniper 500m from me, and you don't need to take account any bullet drop for Tracers.

Please note: The tracer DOES NOT NEED to be fired JUST by the helicopter gunner.

Any planted tracer will act as homing beacon for both the chopper pilot AND infantry at the same time.

This means you are not restricted to just the chopper getting the hits in - You can use a combination of RPG/CG AND the Hellfire to take out armour. NB: These are the only homing weapons.

If you are havign trouble getting teamwork going, hook up with a clan, and ditch the console kids. It just aint the same

@williamfillion Bradleys fire TOW's. These work entirely differently. trivia-- IRL, they use an uncoiling wire from the Bradley to the missile to avoid any jamming and enable direct communication between vehicle and weapon.

It would be great if ground troops tagged the tanks for you, leaving your gunner to pick Reload or Warhead instead, making your heli even more formidable. As a pilot, I prefer using Warhead or Smoke, the first for obvious reasons and Smoke as insurance for that one guy who gets lucky, or that guy who's really good at tagging.

However, after watching this video, I now know the full potential of the attack heli Hellfire. Thank you for making this.

I was playing on Oasis Rush in the Apache, and an enemy had a tracer dart on him and I was flying over on a strafing run and put the cross hair over the little orange box and lit that guy up with a hell fire it was soo hilarious I wish I could have recorded that ;)
