  • this song was rock'n at my high school farewekk. and it still does

  • There is some good music from Aussie Bands of the 80s, but fuck was there some crap. The Australian Music Industry basically forced crap onto us.

Listening to much of the 80s stuff now is so lame.

l pleased to tell you all, l've more technical and advanced styles.

Even back then. nothing l actually listen to, never satisfied me.

This particular song/vid, pub scrag music.

  • I'm hearing this for the first time in my life because I checked a list of one hit wonders from the eighties. There are so many hidden gems out there. Thanks for sharing.

  • find my hidden comments............press see all.

  • i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals).i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.

  • so far i have had eliminations at days 504, 840, 1176, 1512, 1848, 2184, and expect my 7th at day 2520. today is day 2374. i have definitely found something.i am not lying. what i have discovered has gone around the world and many songs have been written about it......the foo fighters last 3 albums......"vertigo" by U2 (my first name is phil)....coldplay's last 2 albums. an elimination is a day when you experience strong flu-like symptoms and feel terrible. bad stuff is washed out of your body..

  • FINALLY!!! have it on vinyl 45.. but no way to play it now!! Thanks mate!!

  • This brings a lot of memories - reminds me of my brother and I building billy carts and calling the neighbourhood boys for a game of footy. The days when devon & tomato source sandwiches were the norm from primary right through to high school. When things were simple...

  • complete, .........i seen a sex video with her when she was around 19 at a Hotel in tuscaloosa lol.. i seen it here.....Starzexposed...dot...com............. ( want some info And confirmation with a handshake ready-to-satisfy- )

  • prettier, .........we seen the sex video with her when she was about 19 at a tampa hotel! lol.. go here to see it now.....[Starzexposed...dot...com.]............ ( like fun The sex was morally alive any-hole-available )

  • Friday night at the waltzing matilda cutting one out of the herd .. great times..

  • Really good song! Only went to #37 in th US, back in June86. I think its GREAT!!!

  • R.I.P. James....

  • NZOZ - there was a few clips on here a while back of the old "AUSTRALIAN MADE" concerts of the 80's with Models and others on it, you wouldnt be able to get ya mitts on them would you..

those concerts were fawkin awesome... shame they cant do that these days, not enough good aussie talent out there :(

  • bULL-f**KINsH*T! Death was the only thing that could keep him from the #1 love in a 'drinkin mans life. & he loved every drop he got."

  • One of the great pop tunes of the entire decade! RIP James.

  • I have this on a LP at home, but nothing to pay it on now.... I LOVE this song

  • Is anyone going to post the 12' extended version of this? I used to have it. It was soooo awesome.

  • Models were fantastic live thanks to their road crew. Mark Woods did such a good job on sound and went on to Men at Work and Tina Turner. I am glad Models were part of my life and also the good guys and girls around them - a priceless part of the Melbourne pub scene.

  • if not for trolling you tube just now, I NEVER would have known who performed this amzaing tune. I was only 10 at the time, but my Brother would BLAST this song in his IROC Camaro every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, thanks for the memories.

  • @gsxrbuckeye Trolling? yeah, shame the singer took his life...

  • @nzoz1985 Trolling. Surfing. Looking on... Glancing around.. Taking a peek. Seing whats up.. Bored as hell with nothing else to do. TROLLING. Never knew he comitted suicide. What a fkn waste. Never have understood what is so bad that killing yourself is the answer. I mean Im doing everything to get my arse back home alive and not getting my head shot off here in Afghanistan. But thats me and not him I suppose.

  • @nzoz1985 really shit never heard that till today have to google it for info

  • 8 people have no idea about life...

  • what a legend nzoz is for uploading all this material from what was, in my opinion, the golden age of australian music. if only the internet & nzoz had been around in 1985 when i was in year 9...then again, i probably would never have left the house if they had lololololol...thanks maaate!!!

  • @TheKevvvMan no worries and thank you

  • This has got to be one of the BEST hard-driving singalong pop songs from the 80s.

It doesn't let up from start to end. Good old 80s Oz Rock!

    R.I.P. James - hat's off to you.

  • I remember seeing the models as a support act for david bowies serious moonlight tour.

  • what searching for Level 42 but ok , never heard them , like!

  • @TheBMW320cabrio too bad you and most of your fellow country people missed this and many other great Australian acts in the 80's. Australia was spoiled rotten during this period. We were seeing our local musical acts during their peak, as well as getting nearly everything the world had to offer. We were far from being left in the dark when it came to global music exposure, and our local scene was second to none.

Kylie Minogue was a caged budgie among the monsters. RIP JAMES FRUED (singer)

  • @nzoz1985 oops, I mean Freud..... who later played in Kylie's touring band.

  • This was one of the songs that defined my whole view of the 80s, an exciting, free and optimistic time. I didn't know the unfortunate story of James Freud and it saddens me to know that one of our greatest musical talents died in this lonely, painful and premature way. It's true that great artistic genius is born out of great pain. This man had the ability to channel that pain into his music, a rare gift. RIP James, your music will live on.

  • James Freud was not only a great musician but also an incredibly funny guy, as evidenced by his book "I Am The Voice Left From Drinking" and it's sequal. His frustration at his inability to beat his alcoholism rings through loud and clear in these 2 amazing books. My deepest sympathy to his family. RIP James Freud.

  • RIP James

  • Completely underrated song. I always wished the Models had broken out bigger here in the States. They had a unique, rocking sound. INXS dominated that era here as far as Australian bands went, but I still love the Models' sound.

  • Wow this rocks ! I never knew. .i wanted to see if i knew any The Models songs and I have heard this plenty of times. Love the sax stabs!

No doubt they have an Aussie sound

  • So bloddy addicting. R.I.P James Freud.

  • RIP James Freud.

  • A sad day losing another of the great ones.

  • Did anyone record the RAGE special last night (14th of November 2010) that payed tribute to James Freud? I would really appreciate a copy!! xxxxo

  • Rest in dear peace. A great, great 80's Anthem. THANK YOU xx

  • I'm so sorry to hear about James' death. Farewell to a great Aussie rocker.

This song should have been a bigger hit in the U.S. Such an embarrassment of riches in rock and pop from the '80s, which is good because there's so little that interests me these days.

  • Very reminiscent of mid 80's INXS.

  • rest in peace

  • this is soo groovey love it :)

  • If I was DJing an 80's party this song would definitely be in rotation

  • RIP James. thanks for the songs

  • RIP James Freud. You'll be missed.

  • RIP, James Freud. Thanks for the music!

  • RIP, James Freud. Thanks for the music.

  • why dont they play this on MTV and other music channels? some of the pop stuff being released is rubbish! we need more of this! and less of the Beibers!!

  • RIP, James. We loved you mate. You had heaps of friends and followers. I know you missed the scene; but you beat the demons, Brother. What happened? My heart goes out to your children and other family members. I wish you could have reached out brother; We miss you heaps. Your fans. xxx

    .

  • I couldn't believe it! I had not given James Freud much of a thought since the 80's, until very recently! I am currently on my re-discover the 80's quest. The Models were one of the must re-visit quickly! bands. I was a fan of early Models before James joined, I quite liked the original formula but you cannot deny that James Freud took them to a whole new level & audience. You will be missed James, you are Immortal on this Earth & future generations will marvel at your work. Hope you find Peace

  • Such a tragedy...rip james freud....out of sight for now, but ever out of our minds.

  • RIP James, your music will always live on. Thanks for the great memories of the 80's.

  • RIP mate

  • Go well James, rip it up

  • how has this only had 58k views???

  • This is the saddest news since Michael Hutchence died. I grew up with The Models. I despair for the depth James must have been at to take his own life. This man gave so much to others... but in the depths of depression no-one was there for him, to the point he took his own life. I am grieved by this. Are we supporting each other as a community? Is Australia failing to do what we proclaim to do best? Care about our fellow human being? We failed this man. He should still be alive today.

  • @myaussiebabe Just like Paul Hester, he had beautiful people in his life. It just wasn't enough in this earthly world. He is as many depressed artists with wife and kids in a better place as James' family have posited. I have read both his books over and over and tragic as it is, this is not a surprise. Least not of all to his saint of a wife Sally, nor to his boys.

  • @myaussiebabe yer its our fault not, he and thousands of other choose to take their own life, you cannot prevent whats already happened, just remember him as how he was and most of all the music, and his role in life was to make millions of people happy, he now moves on, written in the pages of history as another rock star legend. his family see's a different side that fans don't. maybe thats the way it should be.

  • @myaussiebabe

I've only read his second book (I want to read his first but can't access a copy). According to his second, many of his friends did force him to do rehab. His family and friends also endured the bumpy ride with him. I think that shows a sense of community spirit that we should be proud of in this country (without being too patriotic). In the end it was just bad timing.

  • @nzoz1985

  • @nzoz1985 if you do a google search for james freud books u will find his first book at angus robinson website...i tried posting the link here but it wouldnt post....guess they dont allow for weblinks in comments or something, so did it the long way round...

  • RIP. Too young.

  • so sad.

  • Thank you for the music James Freud ♪♫•*¨*•♥.¸ your 80's Oz rock lives on :-)

  • What a tragic death, such a talent. He looked so full of energy when I saw himn perform back in the 80s and when I saw him performing recently his talent shone through even though he looked tired and worse for wear and was obviously struggling. Thanks for the music, you will never be out of mind or out of sight.

  • My heart just sank - James Freud was such a hug talent. If this song didn't get you on your feet - you weren't breathing! RIP.

To his sons - keep going and keep your wonderful father's work alive! He lives in you both.
