Eber Flamenco for President of the United States suporting: 1. Education 2. HealthCare 3. Imigration reform for the world and a Strait Shot to the target for what I have to accomplish. A hundred percent solid solution. It will take 8 months to see what I am telling you. I am not promising you I am going to show you what it takes to be a great leader in the United States. America we are going for the solutions for the problems and needs we have in this country
Are you going to give your full backing into the murder of Natalie Wood, bearing in mind it was during your last term in office back in 81 that there was a total 'whitewash' and the coroner was fired for wanting to investigate her death! Who on earth has the power to fire a coroner? I just hope you do the right thing this time! RIP Natalie Wood, gone but never forgotten!
DMV examiner grabs my steering wheel, endangering my life for no crazy reasons then tells racial slurs on my face then slams my door! I didn't sign up for football! darn! We are related to katherine schwarzenegger so they can expect a long term detraction!
Today Gerry Browns Office refused to help keep over 200 veterans employed! Leatherby Tools employs these vets and the state is stealing the money from them. Leatherby Tools brought the attention that little girls were being molested thanks to children services and they don't care about that they just want money.
YOU BROKE THE LAW. you signed the dream act giving illegals higher education and 14 million dollars in free money??? my family waited years to come here and spent thousands on lawyers and we all work hard and pay tax. we have no money and pay loans for our education. FOR WHAT? teachers cant get paid proper amounts and you do this? YOU BROKE THE LAW by signing this. we must recall this man.
@GovernorBrown So you are planning on vetoing the Dream Act for Illegals? If we have leftover money it should go to legal residents, to keep them from going into debt.
Fuck making us pay more money for tuition! I just paid so much money today at the university I go to! This is so ridiculous! Forget boosting up prices for university students to pay off the debt. Force spoiled ass Paris Hilton and Justin Beiber to pay off the debt! They both live in California. They should take up the burden for us :)
Thank you for messing up our educational system thank you all politicians in California you and your Republicans,Democrats and of course lobbyist friends for making the golden state a "metal scrap" state. WE ALL APPRECIATE VERY MUCH. May you people in Sacramento once think about us?
Un believeable, are you going to teach grammar school how to butt pump each other. Where do freaks come off better then the rest of America. Your tthe same asa you where years aago, worthless.
@vroom2000 The Democrats have had control of California for 60 years. The downward spiral path of California is not the result of a Republican destruction as you would call it. Why don't you look up Jerry's 1978 "Dill Act" where he signed into law the Public Employee pension program at a time when California was back then in deep deep debt and he tried to double the property tax to cover the debt. If it weren't for Prop 13 everyone in California would be renting instead of buying.
Jerry I wish you would pressure your assembly to push for the recognition of hemp production. Hemp has no THC. It can be industrialized as a commodity to create new tax revenue. There are still enough clothing manufacturing companies here in California that would go into the Hemp industry. Please consider it.
America and California are on the verge of imploging, look at the numbers. We have Obama who has fed use nothing but lies, corruption and bullshit. Now Americans don't believe a damn thing government says and non of what you do. Until you prove otherwise your all as corrupt as Obama. You only get one shot at this no do over, thats what Obama is trying to do = Failure. Go home look at your kids, then come back an do it.
Veto the next one too, it is a band aid, the people of California want real cuts not the same smoke an mirrors that Obama haands out. The people are fed up with politics, they want you to ddo what you where sent there for. To work for the people only, so get your heads outa your asses and make the cuts, If you wont WE WILL.
It's about time a governor that knows how to do his job enters office.great job in halting a budget Jerry. No wonder you got elected to office two times.
@shawnmichaelmessner That is why he asked for voters to vote on the tax extensions (which should not be a big deal to the voters). The extensions take care of some of the debt as we go forward. Since the democrats voted for the big cuts and passed them the Repubs should have stepped up to the plate and let the voters decide whether they were willing to continue the tax increases for a few more years.
will any of these funds help boost jobs?? go to health care?? If so, maybe i wont have to keep looking for a job AND hold up a sign next to a freeway with my job info on it also. Dont believe me?? Look at my recent vid uploads, or just take a drive around town.
Good for him, a veto should have occured. Now both parties need to get REAL, yest deep cuts are needed, but why not cut the Salaries of the SO-SO head's of each State Department, Local Administration Salaries, re do their Benifits to match what millions of us have to pay out of our "deep" pockets. Yes let's talk about taking from the Rich by all means, the real Rich are the very asses, we elect that pass the laws, taxes, cut their wages and see what happens. Bet we get something done then
@SpinCage Where is your proof on that at? And please don't provide us a link to FAUX news, because they pretty much take reality itself and turn it into a distorted fantasy.
@FinalTensh0 it's funny because most conservatves would agree wth you, yet you seem lke you don't like them. you're talkng about cuttng corporate welfare and that is a good thng.
@FinalTensh0 The FCC amount you refer to was used to sponsor advertising at NASCAR on the conversion to Digital Media-----The government has to pay to advertise just like everyone else. This happened under George W. Bush. You make it seem ---from the way you posted this comment---that it happened yesterday.

OR these....Despite trillion-dollar deficits, last year’s 10,160 earmarks included $200,000 for a tattoo removal program in Mission Hills, California; $190,000 for the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming; and $75,000 for the Totally Teen Zone in Albany, Georgia.
This IS my favorite....Washington will spend $2.6 million training Chinese prostitutes to drink more responsibly on the job. BUT NOOOOO, they will cut Social Security......Asses
OR these...The Pentagon recently spent $998,798 shipping two 19-cent washers from South Carolina to Texas and $293,451 sending an 89-cent washer from South Carolina to Florida.
The Securities and Exchange Commission spent $3.9 million rearranging desks and offices at its Washington, D.C., headquarters.
Why are Americans so bad at math? Don't they realize it is impossible to pay off debts to banks using money created from debt? The only money banks ever create is made from the PRINCIPLE of the so called "loan", which means there is never enough money to pay back the banks the principle and INTEREST because the interest money doesn't exist in the money supply.
Wake up people, we are and have been, victims of bank fraud.
I moved from California to Nevada like so many others we do not pay all them taxes and I am sure more will follow. I was sending thousands of dollars now I am able to buy lot's of gold witch is doing great. Keep up so California will need a bail out and print more money and gold just goe's up.
democrats cutting spending???? republicans cutting spending???? Laughable, we need Ron Paul or we are going to be cut off from our debtors and living in an economy like our neighbors to the south .. infact!!! we may have to cross their border... hmm wonder if they will like that ??? bwhaha maybe they will give me an entitlement check ..:)
I applaud your vetoing of the budget. But it's time to move on past tax increases and cut the budget further. CA has the highest sales tax in the country and too many govt services are not essential.
@ 707westy: The Tenth Amendment is similar to an earlier provision of the Articles of Confederation: "Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled."
@Taiger300 Exactly. However The US Constitution is the law not the Articles of Confederation(which only lasted about ten years, why would you think they're the law?). Here's the Tenth Amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." This is what gives the Federal Government the power to write laws superceding state laws.
That's it Brown, only you as a fellow Democrat can whip the Party into line on spending. Give them tough love.
We understand you had to put in that shot against Republicans to give your rabble some red meat to mollify themselves with as you slash their fave programs by enormous amounts, possibly even 1%.
CA = failed experiment #1. Temporary my ass, just so you bums don't miss a pay day. Pack it up folks, move to Arizona or Texas. Nobody wants to do business in this pit.
@dgallegos4201 -- California is still the richest of all the states. What has failed is people's understanding in that OUR state problem is actually a revenue (tax) problem, the more the CA state gutted state funds (taxes) from public programs/jobs the less money there was to pay for things. It began with prop 13 in 1978. CA must reform its spending but it must also allocate funds (taxes) to pay off the accumulated debt.
@Taiger300 In fact that is exactly what the Supreme Court of the USA says. That is the law of the land, and not "a" constitution but The Constitution of the United States of America.
@Taiger300 -- The US Constitution limit state rights. Federal laws supersede State laws. However, what I am saying is that the Articles of Confederation (what the Republicans really want reestablished) gave states more power, it gave States the option to donate money to the Federal govt, taxes were collected by the states, no regulation of interstate trade and the like: ~equal~ (same concept) no regulation of businesses, no taxes, charity, more state rights and so on.
If you want to respond to my posts, I would appreciate you sticking to topic and addressing my point within context or it is really kind of pointless even responding. BTW, you have it wrong. State politics effect Federal politics. Last I checked, the US was a Federation of Sovriegn countries (read: States).
@Taiger300 -- last time I check we have a Constitution, not an Articles of Confederation. Well...I'd suppose the GOP master's plan is to reestablish the Articles of Confederation in the USA. Anyhow, what are your points exactly? You write one thing and then say another -- I am going with the flow of things. No one likes a double standard.
@Taiger300 In fact that is exactly what the Supreme Court of the USA says. That is the law of the land, and not "a" constitution but The Constitution of the United States of America.
Ok Djememez. Take three more left turns and get back on topic. We are discussing CALIFORNIA not the US! If "taking pitches" from Boehner means pointing out the fact that DEMOCRATS spend like drunken whores and then look to the taxpayer to finance it....then so be it.
@Taiger300 -- National politics plays a big role in State politics. Speaker Boehner is the drunken orange tan man. He hasn't brought ANY job proposal to the US House of Representatives. DIDN'T he campaign on this!? Yes - he did. But, he is a hypocrite...like all other Republicans save Ron Paul.
It's simple - Less jobs = Less revenue for the state.
The state keeps piling on new programs during the fruitful years and then trying to cope with the burden of all these unnecessary programs during the bad years. There needs to be a limit set on spending that would raise only with inflation and new employed residents in the state. Just wait, when the economy recovers, the lawmakers will go on another spending spree, then 5 years later we'll be in the same mess.
REALLY!!!!! The reason we don't have a budget is because thr republicans won't capitulate to the Governor's rediculous TAX INCREASES (don't try yo call it any thing other than what it is)!!! Well, good. California has the highest gas taxes, highest income taxes, highest sales taxes and highest per capita prison spending IN THE COUNTRY!!! We don't have a revenue problem, WE HAVE A SPENDING PROBLEM YOU EFFIN' IDIOTS!!!!!
@Taiger300 -- I see you're taking pitches from Speaker Boehner. Tell him to quit his love affairs while you're at, he's gonna get burned sooner or later. We have a revenue (tax) problem, as there is simply no money to fund the 3 illegal wars, social safety-nets and so on. The Republicans want to keep funding the 3 illegal wars with few exceptions in the House of Representatives. Taxes fund wars. Taxes fund Medicare. Taxes fund roads/police/firefighters. Taxes are a necessity. Get it clear.
@Taiger300 -- the US has the lowest tax rate in the industrialized world : Federal income tax at 35%, capital gains tax at 15% and Corporate taxes at 7%. WE NEED TO RAISE TAXES. Republican Dwight Eisenhower had Federal income taxes at 91%, capital gains taxes at 30% and the Corporate tax at 35%. The 1950s were arguably America's Golden Age!
@Djmemez Yes We have lower taxes then the welfare state countries who are all in worse financial shape then we are. They also do not have as high of standard of living as we do. The bigger government the higher taxes Smaller government means lower taxes. What do you want?
@quizerry -- Norway, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Finland are better off. You know why? They didn't allow American banks into their countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland). They are fiscally conservative with their surpluses. THEY HAVE SURPLUSES! These are welfate states - social democracies. The more capitalist countries like the UK, France, Spain and Italy are doing worst off! The irony.
Well done Gov'nah! Remember when Schwartzie cut up the credit card so all the idiots in our state would vote for him? Then on his first day he(Schwartzie) cut taxes by $6 Billion and wrote $15 Billion in bonds? That was $21 Billion of debt on his first freakin' day! Too bad most Californians don't know 2+2=4 but that's what you get when people don't value education. Good luck with the idiot/spoiled legsilature.
@DillonDee9 Highly unlikely. We voted for FDR and got Mitt Romney! Forget BO, he works for Goldman Sachs and the rest of the plutocrats who run this country vis a vis complete ownership of both political parties.
@DillonDee9 Governor Brown is doing exactly what President Obama should have been doing with the GOP all along. Reject half-measures doomed to failure.
The GOP playbook is to force bad compromises on the Dems, and then blame them when the compromises don't work. Governor Brown is, in effect, telling the GOP to stick it sideways.
Brown understands at this point what it takes to protect the interests of the people in the face of corporatists.
@rocky19421 Corporatists? Brown is a "corporatist". He screwed California college students royally by cutting our budget more than the proposed amount. In addition to that he has the balls to tell us that we have to compete with illegals for scholarships. Its absurd! Arnold was better.
@DillonDee9 I agree. If something is not done soon about it. I fear anarchy is on the brink of happening. Only it will be the average Joes, locked and loaded against the rich.
Brown, your press office is going to keep receiving more phone calls from us, the tax payers! This is not over! Force your union masters to start slashing those outrageous pensions, making them pay more healthcare & demand a "hard" spending cap! There's the real solution right there! You're not getting any more of our tax money!
@CABermudez It would be a good start, especially for future costs but we won't get nearly the savings you expect. Not even close actually, probably less than $1 billion per year. With the deficit still $10 billion, taxes will undoubtedly have to go up some.
@707westy I forgot to type about the outrageous salaries that these government workers are receiving. Teachers & admins in Fullerton are making 6 figure salaries. LAUSD teachers are not paying at all for their healthcare, & then, there's the spending cap. We need a "hard" spending cap. Brown should tell the teachers to take a pay cut. 90% of the school budget is going to teachers & admins. If the teachers want more money, then they should go to their bosses & demand they take a pay cut
@CABermudez -- you're mad at teachers and public employees for the 2008 financial mess? You're a deluder. Teachers get 40-60 thousand a year, other public employees vary. However, why are you mad at these people??? They didn't steal/gamble with your 401k, pension, savings and housing inflation. Public employees have stable jobs, just 'cause your job is private and unstable shouldn't make you bitter for the public jobs. Public jobs are the middle-class, without the middle-class it would revolt.
@Djmemez Teachers' salary starts at over $40K. Teachers should be capped at $60 to 75K. Yes, maybe some teachers do deserve more money, but the unions states that teachers are the same, so therefore to them, they all deserve a raise. BS. If they all want more money, then they need to cry to their bosses to take a pay cut. Not cry to the public & want more tax money from the middle class & the poor. I don't get a pension, & so do most of the private sector. What makes them think they deserve one?
@CABermudez -- Republicans want Public teachers making money around 20K-30K. This is poverty in the State of California. Full-time private employees do get pensions/health benefits: 401K pension, dental, health, personal savings, medicare and social security. Most jobs these days hiring in CA are part-time (temps), so you won't get none of the above except social-security and medicare -- two social programs people pay into via taxes.
Public Employees deserve pensions and health benefits 'cause the overwhelming majority have their Bachelor's & Masters. They deserve what they've put into school. Government jobs are what make the bulk of the middle-class in the US, also private union jobs. If you feel left out because Wall Street robbed you blind of your 401K pension, savings, house value and what not...then YOU should be angry at them. People often forget the 2008 crisis was a result of Wall Street, Sub-prime loans and 2 wars.
@CABermudez 6 figures aint what it used to be. I would fully expect a 6 figure salary for University professor, hell private plumbers and elctricians in my neighborhood make that... yes after s.s. and medicare etc. I completely agree with the premise spending is way too high but even after these adjustments taxes will have to go up, at least for the upper classes. The debt must be paid down, among other things in order to restore our state.
@707westy You're talking about private plumbers & electricians. That is way different. They're not stealing money from tax payers. Taxes don't have to go up. The only way to restore the state is to eliminate the business regulations that are forcing businesses out of the state & taking jobs, a hard spending cap that should not go up, & downsize the pensions for current & future employees. Our taxes should be not used on whatever the union thugs want. California is being run by them.
@CABermudez In reference to the plumbers and electricians, I only mentioned them for comparative salary to profeesors(who by the way aren't "stealling from the state", that's silly talk). Seriously, $100K isn't that large a salary for the bay area or any major metro area in CA. Not by a long shot. If you're truly of the opinion that all government employees are leaches you should move to Somalia, a truly libertarian dream of no government. Good luck with that.
Republicans don't want to extend current taxes -- i.e., tax-extensions. Democrats don't want deep cuts in Public K-12 education, don't want more fee increases for public universities and cuts to public employees. Who gets the short-end of the stick here? Democrats and the people of California. Republicans are out to dismantle this nation - they'll take down this Country/State before they raise taxes.
The people of California passed the simple vote to GET things done. Do it!
Conservatives are bringing this country to its knees -- with 3 endless wars, corporate welfare, low taxes, lack of immigration reform, no health care reform and no job creation. Tell me conservatives. WHY hasn't Speaker Boehner brought any job proposals to the US House of Representatives? It was all a scam. The US House is currently going after Medicare, Medicaid, Planned-Parenthood, NPR, PBS, Social-Security (on its way) and everything else Americans dearly love.
@Djmemez The endless wars are Obama's wars. Not the Conservatives wars. You messiah in chief promised to end the wars in his first 180 days after inauguration. he started a war in Libya, we already got boots on the ground in Syria. A war with Syria is scheduled to be enacted in late Sept, early October. Why should tax payers fund Planned Parent hood, and NPR? Seems all the scumbag EMILY's List scumbocrats are so gung ho about protecting their progressive agenda. DEFUND NPR AND PP NOW!!
@guitarfreakstyle2 -- DUDE. George W. Bush got us into 2 illegal wars (ILLEGAL) and the Obama administration has tried to end these wars effectively. The Right-wing keep pushing him to the right, this is why he kept most of the former administration's advisors, generals and what not. Obama did extend the Afghanistan war -- out of necessity and besides it was the sole reason we went to war in 2001. Right now Obama is being contended by 10 congressmen with the war in Libya.
@guitarfreakstyle2 -- The US should end these endless wars once and for all. These wars are unsustainable. You talk about deficit/debt reduction, why doesn't the right-wing defund/end the wars??? The US House of Representatives has the power to do so. It won't. It's an unholy subsidiary of the US military. Instead, they are going after social programs/benefits to pay for these illegal wars, more tax-cuts and more corporate welfare. WHERE ARE THE JOBS speaker Boehner promised he would legislate?
@DillonDee9 -- The Ryan plan wants to eliminate Medicare and make it into a coupon for the Private Insurance companies. Raise the age to 70. It wants to eliminate people's savings. Oh, with the money taken/gathered from Medicare they want to give 1 trillion in tax breaks/cuts for the wealthy and corporations. I thought the Republicans wanted to solve the National Debt crisis? They don't. They want to bring this country to its knees. Republicans want to remake America into right-wing state.
This is the truth. The Ryan plan is extreme The Republicans have a social-darwinist point of view with regards to the elderly, poor, workers, women and the like.
@Djmemez Actually there are more republicans calling for the withdraw of our overseas occupation than you think. My cousin Congressman Justin Amash has drafted over a handful of bills since he took seat calling for the end of all 5 wars including the war in Libya, which is now set to escalate into an invasion into Syria, Yemen, and possibly Somalia because of their rich minerals and oil reserves. Now as far as "Where are those jobs". I honestly would ask the Democrat majority Senate.
If you [CA Reps] tax us anymore and do not return our stolen property rights, stolen Sovereign state Citizenship, return our troops from central-bankster wars, return our State sovereignty, STOP ALL DESPOTIC SPENDING, return to Constitutional money by 2012... ...we will be in a civil war. What do you people think this State is going to be doing once the central bankers kill the Euro and the dollar? WAKE UP, and turn these FRAUDS OFF!
I don't want to take away your freedoms, brother. I want you to be free to go to the hospital when you need, to marry the person YOU want to marry, and to worship the god of your choice (or not at all). And as a bonus, I'll throw in that I want you to be free to have a gun, because I'm that kind of liberal.
And making up fake quotes from a leader that virtually no liberal in america would espouse to follow is just kind of weird. It doesn't help your case. Just don't do it.
@LeeFoxRox -- irrevelant to the issues. Unions have been anti-communist since the 1940s. 5/1/2011 was a show of solidarity against the right-wing fascists trying to end unionization, collective bargaining, medicare, medicaid, social security and the rest. Besides, only a small group of them were communists at that rally. There were countless more people who were there.
@LeeFoxRox -- the only way to sustain an economy is by taxes. All the civilized nations have moderate/high taxes. Are these commies? Nope. They're still capitalists with some socialized benefits. Other countries (Nordic model) has a social-democracy system, better known as the welfare state, which is still capitalist at 60% but is heavily conservative with its money. Ironically, the social-democracies are farring better than the more capitalist countries in continental Europe.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948.
How the fuck is it possible that we need 2/3 of the vote to put a proposition on the ballot?? WE, the people should have the right to decide whether we want a tax increase or not. I don't let the Republican/Libertarian apes make this decision for me.
@TrickyEmu we the California voters said no last November to the tax extention. Our spineless politicians don't need any more money to waste on fraud and corruption. NO means NO!!!
“When one makes a Revolution, one cannot mark time; one must always go forward - or go back. He who now talks about the "freedom of the press" goes backward, and halts our headlong course towards Socialism”
“A lie told often enough becomes the truth”
“It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed”
Republicans don't want to extend current taxes -- i.e., tax-extensions. @LeeFoxRox -- Obama is just following Bush's agenda. Bush got us into 2 wars -- can't deny that dude. Obama is continuing his procedessor's foreign policy. Why is it that the US House of Representatives passes bills to fund the war? When it can easily defund it or stop it? Speaker Boehner doesn't have a quarrel with wars abroad but does with the war at home. The Republicans are out to take down the middle/working class in the USA.
What is their I Q of this legislators i would think is very low including Jerry Brown. From the outside I we see a bunch of wimps puppets of the unions they con not step to the plate they worry to much a bout hurting each other bunch of wimps with more taxes any body can fix the dificit does not the point you have to cut across the board.
@srekcoli it's all corruption. The local unions elect the local politicians who give them lifetime entitlements cutting from our kids programs and schools. We have nobody negociating for the taxpayer. Now the state is broke and we in the private sector are laughing our butts off watching these bastards go through what they did to us.
You may want to crack open a civics book and read how societies work. Yes I know, standing around the burning Republican cross with your friends is fun tossing evil books on the fire.
But the truth is, tax cuts for the rich have never worked anywhere on the Planet Earth. In fact I'll go as far as saying they never worked anywhere in the Milky Way Galaxy.
Unfortunately, the massive amount of Foxygen in your tiny brain just will not let you comprehend this.
@LeeFoxRox -- tax cuts don't work for the state or federal level. We've had 10 years of the Bush tax-cuts (capital gains tax) and we're partly in deficit because of this. Reagan passed many tax-cuts in his 8 year period -- the National Debt rose from 1 trillion to 3-5 trillion. Yeah...tax-cuts don't work unless there is revenue backed up to supplement the offset.
Got proof the tax cuts were the reason for the increase?
CBO showed all the Bush tax cuts were spent outside the US and did nothing to increase revenue or stimulate job creation. They are the worst investment a government can make.
Putting money into the hands of consumers produces the most revenue. The evidence shows Welfare and food stamps are the best investment.
The rich do not create jobs/revenue, never have, never will. Customers create jobs/revenue. It's Economics 101.
Republicans always run when some one asks for proof or take you past your talking points.
Maybe we can find you a nice 12 Step program like "Foxygen Anonymous" to get you back to reality on Planet Earth.
Since you’re dumb enough to think the Republican "trickle down" economics works, when do Working Americans (the ones you Republicans hate with a passion) get our trickle? It's been 30 years of transfer of wealth to the rich. It's time we get our trickle and the lazy rich pay.
B) I have pointed out the history. If you deny the facts as they exist, you might as well declare the earth is flat with as much sense as you are making.
C) When you try to rewrite history without including the vast and obvious benefits of what you call 'trickle down' reaped by all Americans in the form of low unemployment, low inflation, increased opportunity, and a robust economy, you are nothing more than a mindless, leftist parrot.
Since you are incapable of comprehending the history that I and others have succinctly pointed out for you, I shall not entertain your anti-intellectual, immature, trollish silliness further.
@Sarge714 Actually Reganomics did work to stop the "wage price spiral" that was contributing to the inflation of the time. Trickle down was just a BS selling point. However we are certainly WAY past that. In fact the middle class has lost most of its wealth while the top has gotten filthy rich. Reagan dropped the top tax bracket from 70% to 28% while the bottom went from 14% to 15%(while briefly lower). Hopefully if we reverse that trend a strong middle class can once again support our country.
@Sarge714 In fact I see the opposite of a wage price spiral now. In fact if commodities weren't rising due to world wide competition for them I bet we'd see deflation as wages continue to stay flat. This why most economists say "real wages"(wages relative to inflation) have declined since Reagonomics.
@LeeFoxRox The revenue increase that followed all of these tax cuts was much smaller than the tax cuts themselves, hence the sharp increase of the deficit(and subsequently the debt) for all three affore mentioned Presidents. For example if I drop four apples in order to get two apples I haven't gained two apples, I've lost two. This is why Republicans opposed Kennedy's plan. Fiscal conservatives understand this, idealogs don't. This is why the Republican Party shrinks, shedding fiscal conserves
If you're going to make stuff up, you're going to have to do it with somebody less informed than I.
You claim deficits went up as taxes were cut..
You are revising history.
Per Wikipedia:
"" (Under Reagan) The federal deficit fell from 6% of GDP in 1983 to 3.2% of GDP in 1987. The federal deficit in Reagan's final budget fell to 2.9% of GDP. The rate of growth in federal spending fell from 4% under Jimmy Carter to 2.5% under Ronald Reagan. ""
@LeeFoxRox Honestly, under Reagan the national debt went from $997 billion to $2.85 trillion. As a percent of GDP it went from 30% to over 50%.
The reason the "deficit" falls in your numbers is because the GDP grew faster than the deficit. GDP tends to grow quickly after a recession as was the case back then

The people of California passed the simple vote to GET things done. Do it!
@TUA61 -- However, they didn't win any new congressional districts. So, your argument is weak. If the Democrats had won more congressional districts, say about 3-4, then would have had a super majority to pass anything without any Republicans. The simple vote is in place, yet Brown doesn't want to be seen as partisan...so, he is playing political games. I'd just hope he doesn't let the burden fall on the Public Schools, Public Universities and everyone else as a result of stubborn Republicans.
@TUA61 -- Have a source? The thing is that Governor BROWN does not want to appear partisan, this is why he is out to court 4 Republicans for both places. The State Assembly by having two more Democrats doesn't make a different if the TWO bills that Brown got were by a simple majority vote -- Which CA voters voted to pass in 2010 to actually get things done in Sacramento.
@TUA61 -- when you're in a debate YOU have to show evidence to back-up claims if the other individual is asking for stuff, you can't simply say find it yourself. Doesn't work like that dude.

Are you going to give your full backing into the murder of Natalie Wood, bearing in mind it was during your last term in office back in 81 that there was a total 'whitewash' and the coroner was fired for wanting to investigate her death!

@shawnmichaelmessner That is why he asked for voters to vote on the tax extensions (which should not be a big deal to the voters). The extensions take care of some of the debt as we go forward.

Taiger300 8 months ago
@Taiger300 Exactly. However The US Constitution is the law not the Articles of Confederation(which only lasted about ten years, why would you think they're the law?). Here's the Tenth Amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." This is what gives the Federal Government the power to write laws superceding state laws.

dgallegos4201 8 months ago
@dgallegos4201 -- California is still the richest of all the states. What has failed is people's understanding in that OUR state problem is actually a revenue (tax) problem, the more the CA state gutted state funds (taxes) from public programs/jobs the less money there was to pay for things. It began with prop 13 in 1978. CA must reform its spending but it must also allocate funds (taxes) to pay off the accumulated debt.

Djmemez 8 months ago
If you want to respond to my posts, I would appreciate you sticking to topic and addressing my point within context or it is really kind of pointless even responding. BTW, you have it wrong. Taiger300 8 months ago
@Taiger300 -- last time I check we have a Constitution, not an Articles of Confederation. Well...I'd suppose the GOP master's plan is to reestablish the Articles of Confederation in the USA. Taiger300 8 months ago

Djmemez 8 months ago
They better start cutting because the rest of us in the other 49 states don't want to bail them out.
quizerry 8 months ago

Taiger300 8 months ago
Djmemez 8 months ago
@Taiger300 -- the US has the lowest tax rate in the industrialized world : Federal income tax at 35%, capital gains tax at 15% and Corporate taxes at 7%. WE NEED TO RAISE TAXES. You're not getting any more of our tax money!
CABermudez 8 months ago
@CABermudez It would be a good start, especially for future costs but we won't get nearly the savings you expect. Not even close actually, probably less than $1 billion per year. With the deficit still $10 billion, taxes will undoubtedly have to go up some.
707westy 8 months ago
@707westy I forgot to type about the outrageous salaries that these government workers are receiving. Teachers & admins in Fullerton are making 6 figure salaries. LAUSD teachers are not paying at all for their healthcare, & then, there's the spending cap. We need a "hard" spending cap. Brown should tell the teachers to take a pay cut. 90% of the school budget is going to teachers & admins. If the teachers want more money, then they should go to their bosses & demand they take a pay cut
CABermudez 8 months ago
@CABermudez -- you're mad at teachers and public employees for the 2008 financial mess? You're a deluder. Teachers get 40-60 thousand a year, other public employees vary. However, why are you mad at these people??? They didn't steal/gamble with your 401k, pension, savings and housing inflation. Public employees have stable jobs, just 'cause your job is private and unstable shouldn't make you bitter for the public jobs. Public jobs are the middle-class, without the middle-class it would revolt.
Djmemez 8 months ago
@Djmemez Teachers' salary starts at over $40K. Teachers should be capped at $60 to 75K. Yes, maybe some teachers do deserve more money, but the unions states that teachers are the same, so therefore to them, they all deserve a raise. BS. If they all want more money, then they need to cry to their bosses to take a pay cut. Not cry to the public & want more tax money from the middle class & the poor. I don't get a pension, & so do most of the private sector. What makes them think they deserve one?
CABermudez 8 months ago
@CABermudez -- Republicans want Public teachers making money around 20K-30K. This is poverty in the State of California. Full-time private employees do get pensions/health benefits: 401K pension, dental, health, personal savings, medicare and social security. Most jobs these days hiring in CA are part-time (temps), so you won't get none of the above except social-security and medicare -- two social programs people pay into via taxes.
Djmemez 8 months ago
Public Employees deserve pensions and health benefits 'cause the overwhelming majority have their Bachelor's & Masters. They deserve what they've put into school. Government jobs are what make the bulk of the middle-class in the US, also private union jobs. If you feel left out because Wall Street robbed you blind of your 401K pension, savings, house value and what not...then YOU should be angry at them. People often forget the 2008 crisis was a result of Wall Street, Sub-prime loans and 2 wars.
Djmemez 8 months ago
@CABermudez 6 figures aint what it used to be. I would fully expect a 6 figure salary for University professor, hell private plumbers and elctricians in my neighborhood make that... yes after s.s. and medicare etc. I completely agree with the premise spending is way too high but even after these adjustments taxes will have to go up, at least for the upper classes. The debt must be paid down, among other things in order to restore our state.
707westy 8 months ago
@707westy You're talking about private plumbers & electricians. That is way different. They're not stealing money from tax payers. Taxes don't have to go up. The only way to restore the state is to eliminate the business regulations that are forcing businesses out of the state & taking jobs, a hard spending cap that should not go up, & downsize the pensions for current & future employees. Our taxes should be not used on whatever the union thugs want. California is being run by them.
CABermudez 8 months ago
@CABermudez In reference to the plumbers and electricians, I only mentioned them for comparative salary to profeesors(who by the way aren't "stealling from the state", that's silly talk). Seriously, $100K isn't that large a salary for the bay area or any major metro area in CA. Not by a long shot. If you're truly of the opinion that all government employees are leaches you should move to Somalia, a truly libertarian dream of no government. Good luck with that.

Djmemez 8 months ago
@Djmemez The endless wars are Obama's wars. Not the Conservatives wars. guitarfreakstyle2 8 months ago
Djmemez 8 months ago
@guitarfreakstyle2 -- The US should end these endless wars once and for all. These wars are unsustainable. You talk about deficit/debt reduction, why doesn't the right-wing defund/end the wars??? The US House of Representatives has the power to do so. It won't. It's an unholy subsidiary of the US military. Instead, they are going after social programs/benefits to pay for these illegal wars, more tax-cuts and more corporate welfare. WHERE ARE THE JOBS speaker Boehner promised he would legislate?

Insurance Companies tell us that rich people are much more likely to reach 70 than the poor
And now I understand that Ryan wants to raise the retirement age to 70.

I'm sure Ryan thinks that would be oh-so funny -- Ha, Ha, Ha!
DillonDee9 8 months ago
@DillonDee9 -- The Ryan plan wants to eliminate Medicare and make it into a coupon for the Private Insurance companies. Raise the age to 70. It wants to eliminate people's savings. Oh, with the money taken/gathered from Medicare they want to give 1 trillion in tax breaks/cuts for the wealthy and corporations. I thought the Republicans wanted to solve the National Debt crisis? They don't. They want to bring this country to its knees. Republicans want to remake America into right-wing state.

Unions and Communists March Side By Side at May Day Rally - Los Angeles, Ca 5/1/2011
LeeFoxRox 8 months ago

Unfortunately, the massive amount of Foxygen in your tiny brain just will not let you comprehend this.
Sarge714 8 months ago 2
@Sarge714 Tax cuts worked for Kennedy, Reagan, and Bush.
Revenues all increased as taxes were cut.
LeeFoxRox 8 months ago
@LeeFoxRox -- tax cuts don't work for the state or federal level. We've had 10 years of the Bush tax-cuts (capital gains tax) and we're partly in deficit because of this. Reagan passed many tax-cuts in his 8 year period -- the National Debt rose from 1 trillion to 3-5 trillion. Yeah...tax-cuts don't work unless there is revenue backed up to supplement the offset.
Djmemez 8 months ago
@Djmemez go ahead...
Ignore the Out of Control Spending enacted by democrats as having any part in the creation of deficit spending and debt.
LeeFoxRox 8 months ago
@LeeFoxRox

Sarge714 8 months ago 2
@Sarge714
A) I'm not a Republican.
LeeFoxRox 8 months ago
@LeeFoxRox Ah yes, the world famous simpleton “I am not a Republican” to cover your loony toons Republican talking points.
So where is your proof? Republicans think they can reach deep up their fanny perpendicular past the stalactites and stalagmites and pull any lie out.
I want proof "trickle down" works, you know that mathematics and science stuff Republicans are always trying to defund.
We are in the 30th year of Reagans "trickle down" Crapnomics, an epic fail.
Where is my trickle?

You have provided zero evidence. NONE! Put up or shut up Mr Holier than thou Republican
Where is the proof "trickle down" works? Last time we tried it was the 20's and we celabrated its sucess with the Great Depression.
When do I get my trickle? Will it be soon, WHEN?
Run away Mr Republican!
Sarge714 8 months ago
@Sarge714 Actually Reganomics did work to stop the "wage price spiral" that was contributing to the inflation of the time. Trickle down was just a BS selling point. However we are certainly WAY past that. In fact the middle class has lost most of its wealth while the top has gotten filthy rich. Reagan dropped the top tax bracket from 70% to 28% while the bottom went from 14% to 15%(while briefly lower). Hopefully if we reverse that trend a strong middle class can once again support our country.
707westy 8 months ago
@Sarge714 In fact I see the opposite of a wage price spiral now. In fact if commodities weren't rising due to world wide competition for them I bet we'd see deflation as wages continue to stay flat. This why most economists say "real wages"(wages relative to inflation) have declined since Reagonomics.
707westy 8 months ago
@LeeFoxRox The revenue increase that followed all of these tax cuts was much smaller than the tax cuts themselves, hence the sharp increase of the deficit(and subsequently the debt) for all three affore mentioned Presidents. For example if I drop four apples in order to get two apples I haven't gained two apples, I've lost two. This is why Republicans opposed Kennedy's plan. Fiscal conservatives understand this, idealogs don't. This is why the Republican Party shrinks, shedding fiscal conserves
707westy 8 months ago
@707westy,
If you're going to make stuff up, you're going to have to do it with somebody less informed than I.
Try Honesty.
It works.
LeeFoxRox 8 months ago
@LeeFoxRox Honestly, under Reagan the national debt went from $997 billion to $2.85 trillion. As a percent of GDP it went from 30% to over 50%.
The reason the "deficit" falls in your numbers is because the GDP grew faster than the deficit. GDP tends to grow quickly after a recession as was the case back then

TUA61 8 months ago
@TUA61 -- However, they didn't win any new congressional districts. So, your argument is weak. If the Democrats had won more congressional districts, say about 3-4, then would have had a super majority to pass anything without any Republicans. The simple vote is in place, yet Brown doesn't want to be seen as partisan...so, he is playing political games. I'd just hope he doesn't let the burden fall on the Public Schools, Public Universities and everyone else as a result of stubborn Republicans.
Djmemez 8 months ago
@Djmemez calling Brown a liar? Even the local media is saying that budget was an abortion.
1Guitarslayer 8 months ago
@Djmemez Democrats picked up 2 seats in the State Assembly. Darn those stubborn Republicans for not losing the super majority!
TUA61 8 months ago
@TUA61 -- Have a source? The thing is that Governor BROWN does not want to appear partisan, this is why he is out to court 4 Republicans for both places. The State Assembly by having two more Democrats doesn't make a different if the TWO bills that Brown got were by a simple majority vote -- Which CA voters voted to pass in 2010 to actually get things done in Sacramento.
