Ciavarella, who was placed in federal custody immediately after his sentencing, will be 85 if he lives to his earliest possible release date, with time off for good behavior, in June 2035
@scrantonsux What about parole? Also, )you sure did some homework on this case)...can you remotely imagine any connection to the more recent PennState pedophilia 'ring/cover-up' (many folks are now looking over the disappearance of Centre Co DA Ray Gricar in '05) as possibly connected)...the reason I say this is: look how Sandusky used the 'underpriveledged kids foundation' as his source for his prey; wouldn't kids locked up in a private detention facility be as good a source?
People care about what lindsay has done but they don't care about the judges getting retro active imunity from the crimes they committed. SEE ( SBX211 ) Why is the main stream media ignoring the corrupt judges?
The media is concerned about lindsay stealing a $2500 neckless and not the Superior Court judges are getting $57,000.00 per year per judge from the county. judges are employee's of the state, not the county as per the California Constitution. this is completly obsurd.
He's got a pretty mouth and that is what first 5'6" little punk Italian judge midget is going to have to use to keep from kissing the floors in prison.
read The Luzerne County Railroad and it is an amazing story!! The actions the judge took in favor of his former law firm partner and lunch buddy were beyond belief. With all of the newspaper coverage your case had, it is obvious that shedding light on corruption is not enough! The articles from the Citizen's Voice and the Times Leader pictured in your book made it clear that the reporters were shocked and amazed by the judge's shenanigans. Larry, thanks for writing an incredible book!
jesus, please make prison for these two corrupt individuals very informative, please show these men that power is for the taking, and give them the power to fess up to it,because they forced others to look deeper than they intended for redemption. jesus, please dont isolate them from the people who they passed judgement on

A federal judge rejected the plea agreement of former Luzerne County Judges Mark A. Ciavarella and Michael T. Conahan.
Senior U.S. Judge Edwin Kosik issued an order today critical of comments and conduct of the two men after they entered their guilty pleas earlier this year to serve 87 months in prison.
"Instead of due process, thousands of these children, among the most vulnerable members of our society, were victims of a wave of unprecedented lawlessness that within minutes of their court appearances, swept them away in handcuffs and shackles and placed them in detention or other residential facilities for months for infractions as trivial as shoplifting a four dollar jar of nutmeg or taking change from unlocked cars,

Michael Conahan never made a secret of his relationship with Robert Kulick.
Even a year ago, the former president judge of Luzerne County and the friend of reputed mob boss William "Billy" D'Elia could be seen chatting in restaurants and bars -- the same public venues where Kulick and D'Elia would meet, a former county judge said.
Try not to drop the soap.
