Anyone notice how the songs aimed at youth in the 80s had hopeful, wistful lyrics and progressive lyrics like this one vs. the attitude, aggression, doom, and gloom of some of today's bands? Lighten up, young folks. There's plenty of time to be depressed in the old age home when you don't have your health to waste.

Songs like this make me physically ache for my teenage years. I was dating a girl at the time Visionquest came out who I still think about to this day and had just gotten my first car, a 1987 black 300 ZX. For it to be 1986 again.....
Great film; and it's not just because I was into wrestling.
A lot of good music in that movie. Red Rider comes right to mind. And a then un heard of Madonna (who I don't actually like) with her debut. Anyone remember the song? ;)
Definitely my favorite sports movie of all time. Great sound track with this song and Red Rider 'Lunatic Fringe. Also add in a fresh Madonna and you have one of the truely great soundtracks of all time.
Great movie, great songs. It even made me want to wrestle. For about ten minutes :). I had an older woman crush as well at the time, just like the film. But, yes, I did buy it.
I only know this song from the Tron Movie soundtrack. I agree Steve Perry's got a real great voice, but I got to know this song from the movie. Thank ou for posting this video, it's the first time I hear this song since 1988 or so!
I agree that Steve is among the best singers ever but I saw Journey without him and they were realll really good. Especially NEAL SCHON who is worth the price of admission all by himself. I still say Journey was at their best when Greg Rolle was still in the band writing and singing some vocals. The contrast of his bluesy delivery with Perry's flat-out awesomeness was truly unique. When Rolle left, as far as rock music goes, they steadily went downhill. Though not too far for a good while.
i've never heard anyone that can sing better than steve perry. i love steve perry and since he's left journey, i no longer listen to any of thier music. i only listen to journey music that has steve perry singing
Great song! There is a wonderful story behind this song. There was a young boy dying of cancer and his mother sent Journey a letter about his condition. They then met him at the hospital and gave him a copy of the song before it was released. They said his face lit up when he heard this song, makes me cry still.
Greatest opening of any movie, Vision Quest, Lowden Swain running to this song. I used to listen to it as well before matches. Really does get you pumped. Now my 7 yr old son just started wrestling, listens to this song and lunatic fringe. Great stuff.
HEEEEY!! I've never listened to this Journey's piece of masterpiece!! fuck!! it's great!! this is one of my favourite bands!I live in Mexico and i apprecciate for this kind of music and also i can't get Journey's cds. Anybody can tell me how i do to get those Journey's cd's? I'll be forever grateful. LONG LIVE TO JOURNEY AMIGOOOS!!!!
Thanks so much for just making this song available here. I'm completely in love with this song and I was so disappointed in the other live videos of it posted here. The paintings and architecture are so nice, too. Thanks!:)
ARE YOU A WRESTLER AMIGO? Hey! i'd like to know why Chris Benoit was dead, or if he comitted suicide or if he was assassinated cause this guy was one of my favourites wrestlers RIP Chris Benoit and LONG LIVE TO CHRIS & JOURNEY!!! I'll be waiting for your answer mate, thank you very much!!
This song is the best performed by JOURNEY, steve perry handles the band upon his shoulders...without him they r nothing! is Neil knows it?! perry-u r the best!
I think the story goes is that the boy was dying from cystic fibrosis, and through the make-a-wish foundation asked to meet Journey. They went, and then brought him a copy of this song, a tape player and earphones. at that point Only The Young had NEVER been heard outside of the studio yet, they had just finished it. The young man died later on, the nurses found the headphones on him and the song being played for who knows for what may have been the umpteenth time.
I watched Journey talk about sharing this song for the first time with a young boy, a fan, who was living his last days at the hospital. The guys were crying talking about him, and how he loved the song. I love this song even more, makes me what to love and serve.
What other version is there? The one on Greatest Hits is the same one that was on Raised on Radio is the same one that was on whatever and whatever else.

Madonna sang two songs in the movie. "Crazy for You", and something else. I'll remember it later. You're right. The music rocked the movie
