The piece is great. But the sound and the video tends to get out of sequence when Daniel starts playing. I assume that might be a video program error.
Where is he taking the notes from? From his own mind? So then... the music shows us what the player currently thinks of. According to the sound quality there's an oaf green monster playing organ in his head.
Sehr gute Frage.
the picture is way way out of sync with the sound, and the quality of both is terrible. Still I like the music, or what can be heard from it after such terrible compression. By the way music snobs can eat shit as the saying goes.
Madonna. This a 5 minute masturbation on the "tutti" without any quality of an improvisation. It's simply loud and fast. We have to consider that the history of organ players at St. Sulpice had great names such as Lefébure-Wély, Widor(!), and DUPRÉ. Please Mr. Roth go back to school....
I see your point, but I think it at least, somehow, qualifies as music... just not what most folks are expecting. He's got the chromatics down, and I didn't hear a dissonent slip anywhere (he has the patterns);thereafter, what remains is largely an a-rhythmic mess. If he punched in some stops & converted some of that blaring droning to a tonal "ambience" of sorts, it might be acceptable as "psychedelia"...
This is in the Church of Saint-Sulpice in Paris, France. Previous organists there included Widor and Dupre. This is the largest unaltered Cavaille-Coll
but shouldnt he wait until the priest has finished his sermon?
newgeorge 1 year ago
@newgeorge No one cares about the sermon. The priest should finish whenever Master Roth is ready to begin. :D

@octavebasse8 I know the temptation, being an organist of sorts myself :)

Haha, the man is a master. I would be so intimidated to study under him.

Yes, he is a master but also a very approachable person and never intimidating!

You do know that if he had wanted, he could have gone from FFF to mp without pushing in any stops!

This video was downloaded from another internet-site without permission. I think Daniel Roth would not be glad with this.
