Speaking of Peter Lawford, that clip was from the week of March 8-12, 1976. What week of episodes or which celebrities appeared when the WC chairs became blue?
Well Ivoryman, the only thing I know is that it happened somewhere between weeks #96 and #113 (July 5, 1976).
The entire ABC run of Pyramid had 320 weeks of first-run episodes. The first 88 weeks of shows were of the $10,000 version, while the other 232 weeks were of the $20,000 version, and whatever weeks from 1979 that were billed under the "Junior Pyramid" title.
I'm not sure how many weeks of first-run episodes there were for the CBS $10,000 Pyramid, but I think there were 46 of them.
@excuseyou77 The reason because M*A*S*H was in its 11th and final season when The (New) $25,000 Pyramid returned to CBS on September 20, 1982, so Loretta was pretty much busy getting herself and the cast psyched up for the "Goodbye, Farewell, & Amen" finale episode.
Did anyone notice what I noticed about the opening flashback clips? The railing of the Winner's Circle was blue, but its chairs and carpeting (not to mention the set's carpeting...) was orange!! I remember vnisanian2001 telling me about that, and now that I've seen it... how UGLY... Must have been early in the $20,000 version's run. Plus, that second flashback clip was WILD... Wow, and I thought that 1982 $25,000 win with Barry Gordon took the cake!! :-D
That second flashback is of Peter Lawford's first WC win after many failed attempts. There was a guy in the audience that day who went up on stage with a dummy newspaper with the headline, "PYRAMID STAFF REJOICES. LAWFORD FINALLY WINS."

I wonder if anyone has the full episode with the hysterical, screaming woman and the celebrity who was basically running for his life? LOL.

I can see that they had made the transition from the crappy GE cameras to better Norelco cameras.

I believe that flashback clip with Nipsey Russell in the Winner's Circle is from the earliest known surviving episode of The $20,000 Pyramid.

Also notice how the chairs and carpet are still orange. It makes me wonder if it is actually from when it was still 10K...

Actually, I remember seeing a clip on this site with Marion Ross from her week with Larry Linville (week #102, week of April 19-23, 1976).
So the change in colors for the Winner's Circle chairs was somewhere between weeks #96 and week #102.

I think this was from 1977. I know the celebrity was Peter Lawford, and he was known for crazy celebrations for the wins.

@gameshowluvr86 The ugliness of the orange and blue ranks up there with the orange and green of The Price is RIght in their color transition!

@gameshowluvr86 I believe that was actor Peter Lawford running like crazy.
