I have had these exact conversations with my father and my life is a carbon copy of this song. I left for the air force and 6 years later I am coming back from traveling the world to my home town. This is an amazing song about the depth of a fathers love and yet another reminder that today's "country" doesn't have anything on songs like this. These songs have meaning and evoke emotion from listeners and bring up memories.

im 17 years old and im 2500 miles away from my daughter so i can work on a ranch in northern idaho. the hardest choice of my life was to send her out there where she could be with her family.. someday i will be with her as much as i can. until then i just wake up drink coffee work then sleep again.. i just hope that the someday isnt too late, and not too far away.

lost my "daddy" 3 years ago and the pain is still so raw...i miss him more each day as do his grandsons!! he married my mom the day after i turned 5 and raised me like i was his own and loved me the same!! i was truly blessed for 35 years to have a daddy that did the job that he simply did not HAVE to do!!
