They don't make an air to air intercooler for the 03 cobra. Because it has a air to water intercooler on it already, this way the kit bolts on without have to change the lower intake. It would be better with air to air, but the intercooler that's on it does ok, plus the procharger runs 10 x's cooler than the eaton that comes on it.
that would make sense. i didn't realize that the stock intercooler was re used. im sure procharger makes a front mount intercooler kit for the 03-04 cobras though. you might just have to delete the stock intercooler.
The problem is, that if you take out the stock intercooler you have to change the lower intake because that's where the coolant from the intercooler runs through ,and that just adds to the problems of the install, price, and it doesn't really benefit the hp. They have the kit the way they do for a reason. It would probably be a little more effecient but again price and hassle doesn't justify it.
@mell00ut5 or use both intercoolers for icey cold air charges. It adds a little weight but from the cars I've seen, the power increase and heat reduction is worth it.
man get that thing intercooled! you could be pushing sooo much more power not to mention very very little heat soak
