Another fun fact- Santa Cruz was the murder capital of the US in the 70s since to serial killers like Edmond Kemper.

Santa Carla is supposed to be like Santa Cruz, which also has a kind of Boardwalk, but they didn't want to give their 'Boardwalk' (I'm not sure if it's actually called that) a bad reputation, lol.
My aunt and uncle and I are huge vampire fans, and we came to a conclusion- the Lost Boys was the best vampire film ever made. It captures the darkness and the sexiness (in the Thirst, Edgar would say, "Nothing about being a vampire is sexy!") that vampires have and the struggle for humanity that Michael, Star and Laddie fight.
Last week I had to do a class presentation project, analysing the first 5 minutes of a movie...so I chose The Lost Boys because it's a fucking awesome film and the opening scene is amazing!
Even the kids who don't like 80's stuff thought it was so cool haha! Mission accomplished <3

Love how you see the WB logo with the gentle voice then the very cool music while the camera pan's across the water where you can see the reflection of the moon.
Then zooms to the very famous santa cruz rollercoaster with the infamous lights then to the shot of keifer who just looks so cool then along to the other now infamous vampires.
This is one of my ultimate favourite movies ever. I love everything about it! So original and exciting. R.I.P Beloved Corey Haim! You were the best!! xo

I grew up in California in the 80's and early 90's and whenever anyone asks me what it was like I always tell them to watch the beginning of this movie.
Great sequence, synth line cuts in beautifully after a sinister beginning, aerial shots of the fairground create spine-chilling atmosphere of wonderment and mystique that behold an isolated Californian sub-culture well before the days of kistch global consumerism and the overly self-consciouss age of the internet.
I love this intro. Absolutely brilliant. Cinematography is sooo good. Love the theme too. I prefer it this this and without the vocals. Its annoying that being born in 1991, I missed out on great pieces of film-making like this. I get fed up with todays cinema (all high concept). The music back in the 60's, 70's and 80's was brilliant. Now we get fake, cheap rip offs. Pity.

Jamie Gertz is definately ' fucktastic ' in this movie and i always thought Jason Patric would've been great in a DOORS movie the same time Lost Boys came out. He looks alot more like Jim than Val does, the only problem was he didn't have the crazy edge or voice to pull it off

Hey do me a faviour, check out the Vampire Movie "Martin" by Romero, it's a 1977 movie, and see if that srikes something nice with you. It's different, but very interesting, quite creative actually by Romero.
"Martin" is a very good movie. I love Romero's take on vampirism being a psychological aspect that leaves the viewer with questions that you need to discuss and think about to draw your own conclusions. A good recommendation indeed - Cheers!
Nice film. But the 1977 Vampire movie "Martin" was better. In a wide study of all the Vapire films, and I think it was a survey, as to the top 50 or top 60 Vampire films (can't remember if it was top 50 or top 60), The Lost Boys was ranked number 18 all time. The movie "Martin" was ranked number 5. The first Nosferatu movie with no sounds early last century was number 1. Legosis Dracula movie was number 2. Remember this was a very detailed professional poll/study taken to see how they ranked.
this movie brings back a lot of memories. Twilight isn't that bad but i just think its WAY overated and seriously, sparkling vampires? thats fucking terrible. Though i don't believe in vampires lol as far as vampires myths and shit go, at least Lost Boys 1 represents what vampires would actually be like. Never, NEVER mention 'TwiShite' in the same breath as this movie. Sparkly metaphor voguing vamps compared to sexy guys, granted, who would rip your head off in a heartbeat. That's what movies today are forgetting, you can still have sexy DANGEROUS vampires! Edward is about as dangerous as a door stop.

this movie brings back a lot of memories. Twilight isn't that bad but i just think its WAY overated and seriously, sparkling vampires? thats fucking terrible. Though i don't believe in vampires lol as far as vampires myths and shit go, at least Lost Boys 1 represents what vampires would actually be like. Considering that this movie was done in the 80's, i think this movie has to be more noticed to today's culture cause it was on top and now its underated

like twilight is good, but i honestly think the lost boys beats it by far! it just sucks because not many people know about the lost boys as much as they do with twilight =/

Never, NEVER mention 'TwiShite' in the same breath as this movie. Sparkly metaphor voguing vamps compared to sexy guys, granted, who would rip your head off in a heartbeat. That's what movies today are forgetting, you can still have sexy DANGEROUS vampires! Edward is about as dangerous as a door stop.

Ive never watched twilight and I dont plan to. Its another reboot of the vampire franchise (not that it needed one!).
