Yes, I was there, he was playing for Auckland against Canterbury that had a lot of NZ reps in their team. It was also at Eden Park but the main ground.

Top 7 keepers in all 3 forms of game at present (retired and still playing)- considering both keeping and batting:
1. MS Dhoni
2. Adam Gilchrist
3. Brendon McCullum
4. Kumar Sangakkara
5. Mark Boucher
6. Mushfiqur Rahim
7. Brad Haddin
Not being the slightest bit biased- very fair assessment i reckon.
Comments- 6 and 7 would definitely improve in the future. 3 has just a bit more talent than 2 but doubtful if he can improve his position

Im a totally biased Blackcap fan and would turn gay for McCullum but to put Sangakkara at 4 is just wrong He keeps well and is a demon batsmen

Adam Parore was twice the wickee Haddin is
And Adam was only 'good' by no means great
(but like you I cant actually think of a engilsh keeper/batsmen to put on the list)
But give McCullum a few more years (he is still young) he may challenge that 2nd spot

Kumar is an obvious no.1 batsman from dat list but he isnt super at 2020 & he doesn keep regularly. In contrast, Dhoni is 1 of da most devastating batsman in 2020 and odi, good at tests & brilliant keeper.
Haddin made 169 in his last test. even though i support NZ v aus. Haddin>Parore. not by much

Don't even try to compare Dhoni and McCullum... Nothing taking away from Dhoni but this guys is the next Gilchrist and may prove even better... Whereas Dhoni is good only against Asian teams.

and McCullum does not avgerage 45 in odi
with a higher sriker rate 99 to 100 and has the highest wicket keeper score off 183 not out. He was a pinch hitter when he came and still avgerage 45 . But now bats to the situation because he is a captain . he bangs yorkers for six . his bat speed is the the fastest in the world 145

the thing is hes just so quick with his hands and has a good eye, if the bowler isn't perfect every ball then hes going to punish them. Hes got a good variety of strokes too.
