Very beautiful. Reminds me of being back in Hagi, Japan as a child and walking around in some secluded land of my aunt and uncles. BTW, Shakuhachi flutes can be very expensive, they are not cheap. But, the melody it gives out is so peaceful and wonderful to hear. Great job!
Sorry to say that I learned it the old-fashioned way: sitting in front of a flesh-and-blood teacher!
There are teachers out there who use the Internet, but I would only recommend it for an advanced student. I doubt you could pick up the basics that way.
Korean used to have this instrument as well Japan and china. Korean have lost so many great of her own cultures such as pipa, konghou, etc. Korean has more than what you think. Korean people are dying from attempting to be one of the world greatest capitalist conties. Korea! slow down abit, wont you? and dont forget to take your cultures along with you.
My research shows that the Shakuhachi was a modification in japan of a chinese instrument, although some people also say it origainlly began in egypt and traveled through india on the way to the orient...
It's only true that the first one found was from japan...
this was actually a chinese instrument but now already disappear in china because of the declined of the han chinese culture during qing dynasty it has been lost
This "lost instrument" still alive actually - known as the xiao. The xiao is the ancestor of the shakuhachi but is not as popular as the common high pitched Chinese flute (dizi) in China.
上手いですね。感動しました。

Hey Zach, where did you learn Shakuhachi? (btw I'm not insulting you) Did you learn it from online lessons? If so can you send me a message?

I believe no one can know everything in his/her own culture. I think it's important to know how to appreciate the own culture.
I am not sad that I didn't know the instrument. I always appreciate the fact that I am Korean.

That's a surprising fusion... DoRaZi (Korean song) played by a non-Korean guy with an intrument which I believe not Korean.

You failed History class. Japan was the one to invent the shakuhachi.
