You are totally right about the "no closets" thing. While we were out there last week my buddy and I didn't have anywhere to put our stuff hahaha. So besides getting lost in Ramstein and then ending up in Landstuhl instead of Vogelweh, I think Germany was an amazing place to be stationed and I totally envy you. The only thing that would have made it any better would have been to randomly run into you out there but I don't think ur stationed at Ramstein anyway.
That potted palm that you have there is called a Sago Cycad (Cycas revoluta). Nice one, too. To make an Absinthe drink, just pour it over ice and add a splash of water. Absinthe reminds me of Greek Ouzo.
Just Googled Absinthe and I must confess my ignorance about the Narcotic content of it. No Narcotic. As with many things the legends are pervasive. Have a look at it and you will see the ingredients and flavors involved. Sorry for the mis-info.
Just a note on Absinthe. In it's original form, well known and used in France and Europe in general, it contained a Narcotic which led to it's prohibition and eventual banning. It ceased production but is made illegally in parts of Europe by amateurs(bootleggers). Apparently it produced an opiate high. It's now been reintroduced without the narcotic ingredient. Moulin Rouge has Scenes where Absinthe is feature as the drink 'de Jour'. Nice apt. Enjoy. Vas- good for chapped lips and hands
Oy! Ditch the Vaseline petroleum jelly on the headboard @7:34 . It's much too difficult to launder out or to get off your hands afterward. Nothing against the Vaseline brand, I would certainly recommend Vaseline total moisture conditioning body lotion or equivalent store brand to save money, especially good when dispensed from a Conair heated lotion dispenser which should only cost around $13. ;-)

If that is indeed a bottle of "Absinthe" it's a bit of a "hallucinogen", known "Euphemistically" in France for Centuries as "La Fée Verte", or "The Green Fairy"! It was enjoyed by the likes of "Oscar Wilde" in the late 19th c., or French Impressionists like "Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec" at the turn of the last Century! Watch out "Buddy"!
Jägermeister und Berentzen ! A german bungalow, german alcohol and on facebook pictures from you at the Oktoberfest! Do you have any special relationship to Germany :D?
@Inorra ...Yeah' Randy just loves to be stationed in Germany! He's so open minded to everything going on in our world. Also enjoys visiting all the neighboring countries in his free time. Just an all around great example what a human being should be like. There are very few countries where he would not be welcomed with open arms! :-)
when you buy german beer, you shouldn't keep it in the fridge but in your basement or somewhere a little cooler than room temperature and a couple of hours before you drink it, you put it in the fridge. and it should last for like three months without getting bad. If it does, you're buying the wrong brand.^^
@MrPatrikStern ...US-Military Bases (especially as large as Ramstein) have their own stores (even Shopping Centers) where they can buy just about everything they would buy back home. Also (very important) it's all in US-$. On average this is at least 40% less expensive as similar items would be in Euro currency! Of course, only American Forces personnel have access to these stores. :-)
@ChristopherMeloniii ...Where would you buy when everything priced in Euro is at least 40% more expensive !?
Remember Randy does like to go to German Malls too. He drives a BMW, has a sexy Bavarian Lederhosen outfit and travels in Germany whenever he has free time! :-)
@ginosboo He sure is haha... That's another good one! How about one that says "I'm Randy's camera man", implying that I'm his BF that he never shows xD

damn.. that is a bar...are u a bartender or in the military ?? didn't they stop making wine coolers ?? u can't find them in the states or they are in limited markets..they let u smoke other things besides tobacco ? was that a tub of vaseline on the headboard ?
Traditionally, absinthe is prepared by placing a sugar cube on top of a specially designed slotted spoon, and then placing the spoon on the glass which has been filled with a shot of absinthe. Iced water is then poured or dripped over the sugar cube whereby the water is slowly and evenly displaced into the absinthe, so that the final preparation contains 1 part absinthe and 3-5 parts water.
About 2:40 it's Absinthe, a French liquor, very very very popular in France (ive been living in France for a year now) and it's like 90° degrees strong, the tradition is to take raw shots of it and "fire" it before drinking it...
The first time I drunk this, a friend showed me a "magic trick", he pulled some Absinthe on a 10euros bill and fired it, and it didn't burn the paper lol
By the way, it was illegal to use the name "absinthe" on a bottle (in france) until like a few months ago !
Hookah isn't used for weed. You use a flavored tobacco that relaxes you. Though, you can use a hookah for smoking weed, but it usually isn't used for that. That's what a bong is for.
"I don't know anyone who smokes, now over here is my hookah room" and "Heres my bed its a queen I feel like I worked hard enough to earn a REAL Mans Bed" LOL love randy
See, now the fact that you have the Jameson in the FRONT is a sign that you have really good taste!...hehehehe Jameson and ginger ale for the win! The amaretto rocks too. We have chiimineas here in FL too. Thanks for the tour!
Absinthe... it's supposed to be a hallucinogen. Wormwood is the addition that makes it Absinthe. It tastes like anise (black licorice) & made me hurl at a party in Appleton, WI.
Your place is really nice, Randy. I have visited Germany a few times, and liked it. What city are you in?
Also, the chiminea is indigenous to the desert southwest. Everyone I know in Tucson has one, as do I. I wouldn't have guessed Alabamans would have known about them.
Mine is steel and has an open cage/grill all the way around, so the fire can be enjoyed from any angle.
Congrats on your fundraising total! I'll donate soon. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying my "Ask, Tell" T-shirt!
Great little place you got there. I'll definitely donate once I get paid and @horticulturechannel egg whites are the best protein source for muscle building.
@jrileym They may be Southern, but I live on the GA-SC border and darned if I ever saw one used here! I have seen them at craft places, though. Maybe they are popular nearer Texas, Arizona and New Mexico, and some of the Gulf states. I can't see the purpose of them! What are they good for?
@sunriselg I think he is talking about the roofing material. Most roofs here are composition, which are far from permanent roofs. They only make the roofing contractors rich, since they don't last too many years. The Germans (and the Brits) use much more durable materials for their roofs (slate, tile, etc.). They don't put up with the crap we put up with in the US. We have been brainwashed here.
@sunriselg You folks in Europe are smarter than we are here! You build things to LAST. I never could figure out why we got away from metal roofs (which used to be very commonplace here) and went to those composition roofs which might last 20 years, if you are lucky. I think the roofing industry has done a con job on us! But I do know that tile, slate and metal roofs are far more expensive than composition roofs, but they are also permanent.
haha I totally have a chimenae and I live in Mobile...now that you've mentioned it I don't think anyone else I know that lives in another state has one...
@21CaseyMarie I live on the GA-SC border and I have NEVER seen one used here! But I have seen them for sale in pottery places. What are they used for? They look to me like big ceramic goards with a hole in which a fire can be built. Are they used as heaters or for cooking?
Randy, that is a Mexican Cycade, in your window. They are slow growing Tropical plants; usually only sending out new growth once a year. They also love the outdoors, so be sure to set it outside, once the last freeze has passed, there in Germany. They can take the cold temps, but only down to 28 degrees F.
"...For when the girls come over, but as you can see they have never been opened, because well...girls never come over" LOL nawww Randy you're so sweet! xD
Great video. Very natural. Your lucky to have such a nice place as a single serviceman and be able to live off camp. What I like about you is that you are so open and genuine, unlike some others, who seem to run thier lives as a business, money making machine.
Absinthe! Or the 'Green Fairy' a spirit that is up to 74% ABV! A lot ingested quickly could cause temporary blindness... given as a cure all anise/herby flavoured tonic, French troops were given it in the 1840's to prevent malaria! They took it back to Paris and it became a hit with bohemians, many artists like Van Gogh and Lautrec. Most of the rumours about it's purported effects was untrue spin made by the competing wine industry. I've been wrecked on absinthe at London Pride in the past.
@AreYouSuprised o_O @7:49 I have the same belt! lol, it's one of those ones that you can turn the buckle around and its black on one side and brown on the other right?
@Nateynate82 Take a rocks glass, and fill with ice. Pour 1 shot of Amaretto into the glass and fill the remainder with sweet/sour mix. It's just like making a Vodka and Sprite or a Whisky and Ginger Ale.
fucked up how many bottles! :))))

Congrats on your fundraising total! I'll donate soon. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying my "Ask, Tell" T-shirt!
Cheers~

I've got a cast iron chiminea. Great for burning garden waste and keeping people warm when sitting outside.

I think chimeneas are a southern thing. I live in MS and they are everywhere.
jrileym 1 month ago
@jrileym They may be Southern, but I live on the GA-SC border and darned if I ever saw one used here! I have seen them at craft places, though. Maybe they are popular nearer Texas, Arizona and New Mexico, and some of the Gulf states. I can't see the purpose of them! What are they good for?
MrMusiclover41 1 month ago
@jrileym We have them here in the UK,for the cold summer months!!

How do roofs look like in the US if they dont look like this?
sunriselg 1 month ago
@sunriselg I think he is talking about the roofing material. Most roofs here are composition, which are far from permanent roofs. They only make the roofing contractors rich, since they don't last too many years. The Germans (and the Brits) use much more durable materials for their roofs (slate, tile, etc.). They don't put up with the crap we put up with in the US. We have been brainwashed here.
MrMusiclover41 1 month ago
@MrMusiclover41 Thank, I live in Austria (south of Germany) and our roofs are pretty much like the German ones.
sunriselg 1 month ago
@sunriselg You folks in Europe are smarter than we are here! You build things to LAST. I never could figure out why we got away from metal roofs (which used to be very commonplace here) and went to those composition roofs which might last 20 years, if you are lucky. I think the roofing industry has done a con job on us! But I do know that tile, slate and metal roofs are far more expensive than composition roofs, but they are also permanent.

21CaseyMarie 1 month ago
@21CaseyMarie I live on the GA-SC border and I have NEVER seen one used here! But I have seen them for sale in pottery places. What are they used for? They look to me like big ceramic goards with a hole in which a fire can be built. Are they used as heaters or for cooking?

Randy, that is a Mexican Cycade, in your window. They are slow growing Tropical plants; usually only sending out new growth once a year. They also love the outdoors, so be sure to set it outside, once the last freeze has passed, there in Germany. They can take the cold temps, but only down to 28 degrees F.

Great video. Very natural. Your lucky to have such a nice place as a single serviceman and be able to live off camp. What I like about you is that you are so open and genuine, unlike some others, who seem to run thier lives as a business, money making machine.
Good luck friend, you deserve it.

Welcome to MTV Cribs!!
-Absinthe, wow. Didn't think I'd see that stocked in your bar. I'm curious as to if you've ever actually consumed it...
-I know you said you don't endorse it, but what's your favorite flavor of Hookah? Do you go more for the tea or tobacco type?

Does your family send you food? And, do you know how to make a Amaretto Sour? I can't drink strong alcohol.
Nateynate82 1 month ago
@Nateynate82 Take a rocks glass, and fill with ice. Pour 1 shot of Amaretto into the glass and fill the remainder with sweet/sour mix. It's just like making a Vodka and Sprite or a Whisky and Ginger Ale.
