  • @erikaanear ... i shoot a 60lb bowtech assasain and every deer i have ever hit has been a pass through heart shot. FYI!! love shooting my bow. keep it up.

  • do u just got a robbin hood? i heard something snap.

  • iv shot one and its so fun the first time i shot i hit the bullseye

  • I would so love to get into archery...nothing available around here tho :( So i hit up the shooting range.

  • Expensive mistake.

    What were you shooting?

  • i have never shot a compound bow in my life...! but i have a lot of respect for archery in all aspects of it... my first bow is one that i made as a little kid out of coat hanger and a rubber bands... i was about 5-6 yrs, i've old been shooting ever since... i now make self bows and longbows and make all my own arrows from bamboo, cedar, and even primitive arrows from privot... i only own 1 manufactored bow (a short recurve) all the rest are hand made bows. i came across your vids by chance

  • your fine and you like archery your man is lucky

  • recurve bows all the way oorah :) or english long bow

  • Gets expensive when you Robin Hood the arrows lol.

  • I look on youtube just for Erica -)) Greetings from Polish !! Kris <3

  • I've never owned nor shot a compound bow but I want to get into it. Seems like a great stress reliever. What would you recommend for me to use to begin with as a total novice? I stand at 5'3 weighing in at 153lbs. (just found out today at my physical LOL!) Anyways I just don't want to be "that guy" who goes in, buys a bow and finds out that it's not the right bow for me. Any suggestions?

  • @katanaburner well depends on what you want it for... but at that height... i'm guessing maybe a 24" draw....so maybe a Hoyt Contender Elite with GTX cams and xt2000 limbs...or a Hoyt Vector 32.... but seriously, you're better off trying before you buy. and don't go for more than 50lb initially.Your best bet is to find a pro shop and get measured up. the disasters are usually the guys that buy off the internet and then expect the poor local pro shop to 'fix' the mistake.

  • @erikaanear Yeah I know what you mean about buying off the internet. Hence why I'm asking pros both in person and off vids for their opinions. Thanks I'll go check it out.

  • @erikaanear my crossbow has 150lbs pull..lol..win

  • @johnathon15walters 150lb miss is still a miss and unless you're harpooning whales...150lb isn't exactly necessary for most shooting activities beyond the willy waving that seems to occur now and then...

  • @erikaanear its a hunting c'bow

  • @johnathon15walters what do you hunt that needs 150lb?

  • @erikaanear well, deer, 150lbs is common, so it goes through.

  • @johnathon15walters i forget cross bows aren't as efficient.... 70 or 80lbs is more than adequate for compound

  • @katanaburner You need bow for hunting so get a 55lb draw with carbon fibre arrows. For target shooting I would not worry about a compound but a nice recurve with about 25lbs draw. No good for hunting though. Recurve for hunting, you need minimum of 40lb legally where I live but 45lb will drop a goat. You can use cedar arrows with a recurve as well..not recommended with compound as the wood may break on shooting and you could get an arrow in your arm..or half an arrow.

  • what method are you currently using to trigger your T-handle? i'v been shooting a carter just 'cuz+( it's a three finger/hole release on the smaller side) for about a year and have gone through a number of methods: index relax, pinkey & ring squeeze, thumb squeeze, pull through (back tension). just looking for some input, i know there is a significant difference between my release and yours (looks like a target 3???)

  • @Ready2Run1 I use a Target 3. Basically using back tension and thumb squeeze to release.

  • @erikaanear thanks for your response. I've been watching some of your other videos and noticed one thing with your form: a coach i have been working with recently (Vladimir Kopecky), is a proponent of letting one's bow roll forwards in your hand after the shot, before you bring the bow down. i noticed my shooting improve using this technique. (he picked this method up in Korea years ago.) Its defiantly worth trying.

  • D:< I dont understand lol, i can hit a 4 inch radius bullseye repeatedly with a English Yew Longbow 90lb. draw weight, and yet when i get hold of a compound i can barely hit the target at all -.-". For bows, compound bows and classic bows are so different xD

  • Is she representative of archery women? I may take it up.....

  • whats your best score?

  • @totalycarcrazy in competition: 1390 70m Fita

  • Hi Erika. I use a thumb release as well, and noticed that your right thumb points down when you draw the bow. Is there a reason why an archer should do that, or is that just your "style" :-)

  • @sagesw do you mean throughout the draw or at anchor?

  • @erikaanear I mean throughout the draw to your anchor. For some reason I have been starting the draw with the right thumb pointing in an upward direction, and then rotating it toward me through the draw to a down position at the anchor. You seem to start the draw with your thumb down and hold it there all the way to the anchor.

  • @sagesw well it's just less motion. why twist or turn under load if you don't have to?

  • yea it sounded like a split arrow to me to.

  • I use to love archery, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • I luv the "oops" and then the laugh afterwards...lol...did u miss ur target that bad?...lol...Cool video.

  • @stllda909 i think she says opps, because it sounds like she hit one of her own arrows, and if she is using X10 protours like i think she is, they can run from anywhere around $45-$70 each,

  • i put down my first compound after i missed my target n shot the arrow through the side of my dads TR-6....oops

  • ultra elit 3000

  • @mudkan a year ago it would have been a Contender Elite with xt2000 limbs. The 3000s are too long for me.

  • Will you marry me?

  • @BudaTomu...are you a 90+ yr old, multi-millionaire with a heart condition?

  • @erikaanear No, but I play one on TV

  • compound or re-curve and why?

  • @secretagentmann9 : both and because I love archery

  • do you hunt or just shoot?

  • @Dmajorproductions just competition target :)

  • What thumb release do you use?

  • @rjrudder Carter Target 3

  • I love the proverbial, simple statement.......oops.

it's always so funny!...thanks for sharing

  • What happened ? Robin hood and break the arrow ?

  • I've done a couple Robin Hoods with my crossbow(Horton Yukon 150# compound)& never just messed up "one" bolt.Usually,it's both that are trashed.Just my experience.

  • what did you do?

  • have you ever tried shooting starrflight fobs, i shoot them 3 times better than fletchings.

  • Hey, Erica.

What I specially want to ask is,

what made you to start this sport ?

I mean , was it it been happened spontanely ?Thank you.

  • @123zamk321 my parents were both archers.

  • @erikaanear

What kinda of Hoyt recurve bow do u use????

  • @jessewolfeofficial sorry I missed this! I shoot a Helix...but trying to get enough practice up to justify a formula rx....

  • Ain't archery a wunderful sport???

  • @raginroadrunner no shooting with a rifle is bether

  • What went wrong? did you miss the target?

  • @italianchriswilko100 She hit another arrow that was already in the target. It's called a robin hood and it often means the end of a good arrow. Though here she only broke the nock on one arrow, same as I did a while ago shooting recurve, so it's not too bad.

  • @Kinsella753 I actually just busted a nock the other day with my long bow. Even if the arrows weren't in the bullseye, it at least lets you know that you've got some consistency

  • Hey 18 m guter schuß...Hier bei uns geht im nächsten Monat die Hallensaison los.

    Liebe Grüße,

    Tino

  • @TAPICTURES good luck! :D

  • @erikaanear Das wird super

  • @erikaanear

lol did you understand a single word ? :P

  • Are all these videos from various angles to study your technique and position and such?

  • @BarkingDragon Hmm more to keep a comprehensive journal of what I'm doing and when. It's useful to be able to see what works and what doesn't over time.

  • What did you shoot? ;-)

  • A perfectly good Easton ProTour pin and a perfectly good Beiter pin nock. Now not so perfectly good....But the ProTour made it. :)

  • I think it was worth it. I like watching your videos and this one is one of my favourites because of your smile :-). And one smile for one pin nock - that's a good price :-D.

Frankly, I had to find "pin nock" in the dictionary, I didn't know the expression.

  • i like opps..that i was going to say was not my favorit vid..but i liked it..

  • :-)
