What a great ride! I was born in Worcestershire (in '45) and emigrated to Canada in 1970 - never been to Whitby - but I watched your video (again) on one monitor, with the other running Google maps. You can zoom right down to road level, and it made me feel quite homesick..
I am glad it was worth a second look pj3 I thought of linking some of my vids with a google map route but I am not sure how to do it but it would add a lot to a journey for someone who does not know the area.
A lot has changed over here since the seventies :-( us the people getting ripped off more and more these days less service for twice the cost....GRRR bloody politics's EH! but as little old England its a beautiful place even if it does rain a lot :-)
Oh I go over your stuff at least twice a day: one of the best "how-to" video's on YouTube is you setting the float levels. It's explained in a number of write-ups, but nothing beats watching sonmebody do it.
Did you get the missfire sorted out? It's a bugger when you you don't trust it, isn't it? I usually take the missus along, behind in the car with some tools - just in case.. :-), but my old banger is going pretty good nowadays. I guess you'll be bolting on a sidecar, now you've got Snatch?
Tell us about it pj3atcencol, since I fitted them bell-mouths I have had carburation problems. They upset the mixture right through the range, having now done the floats, pilot bushes and needles it seems ok right up-to main jet. I am running 200's at the minute and it is very rich so I want to try a set of 180's see what they do, fingers crossed. I am determined to get my thirty year old carbs to run right :-)
ps don't forget I was being followed by my mate on his Harley :-O ;-)
I'm using 190's at the moment, ('72 120RV) with good results: Had a bugger of a job setting float heights and then syncing via the book methods. I now use 30' of 1/4" plastic tubing doubled, strapped to a 2" x 4" x 8' timber with the bend at the bottom. I filled it to about 3' with blue 2-stroke oil and then hooked the open ends to each carbs balancing spigot. It's a crude sort-of manometer, but once the vacuums are 'even' I get a real smooth engine afterward.
I do like your Idea of the manometer it'll save me sticking a pipe in my lug and listening to the induction, it works to and I have not sucked an ear drum out yet!! :-)
I have not got any jets yet so I will probably try 190's first as 180's seem hard to get and from fleabay they charge post on each jet and it is more than the jet costs?!? ripped again GRR!
