  • legend

  • Thankyou very much for this beautiful song. A true legend of aussie rock

  • real talent never ever comes in a pretty package...

  • I can see why he dislikes playing it.

  • I think this version sounds more like a cover song than a Rowland S Howard song. Seems like he's trying to sing it the way Nick Cave sang it. Rather than the way he would sing it... if that makes any sense

  • rest in peace rowland!

  • @alanthomwells ahahahah the idiot you are!

  • Well iv always loved this song

  • Miss him such a lot;. This makes me cry.

  • goodbye rowland...

  • And I don't know why RS Howard ever associated himself with Tex jerkins. Can't stand the fucker. RS Howard stands alone as inspirational and more talented.

  • @registradus Why?

  • @registradus Ok you win, I'm terrified.

  • @registradus How? How is it that you are an idiot? How? Tell me how you became an idiot.

  • @Johnnystrychnine I'm not the one that can't tell the difference between Nick Cave and Tex Perkins.

  • @registradus as if I give a fuck, and I don't care if I am a boor, now piss off. And stop fucking replying to my name.

  • I find it so emotional to watch this. I have tons of Rowland vinyl but this makes me cry again and again and again.

  • RIP Rowland, miss you so much. I used to see him in Fitzroy Street all the time as well walking very fast, I knew he was sick and I used to think he was walking so fast to ovoid the grim reaper , but he finally caught up with him. He is an IMMORTAL SOUL

  • bye brother!

  • god i love this song

  • It's been a year now guys...

  • Oh my god. I had no idea this happened. What a huge part of my young life the music he did with Lydia Lunch was and The Birthday Party. Love Nick but identified with Roland cos he was more of a clever moody kitty with more sensitivity.

  • how did he die?

  • @mickjoG cancer.

  • Do you have any other songs from Rowland on Studio 22?

  • @Paroxysm77 She Cried.

    Tony

  • How about giving the man some dignity and at least spell his first name correctly, i.e. Rowland?

  • @Gwankada Many apologies. I used the incorrect spelling used on the clip. Thank`s for pointing out my dumb-ar*e mistake which I`ve now corrected.

    Tony

  • RIP RSH.... a real artiste

  • great video! do you have the rest of this program? when was it on abc2?

  • the book Inner City Sound has been re issued.

  • @gerharddehls Thanks very much for that update.

    Tony

  • RIP Rowland. Does anyone know what the chords are to this?

  • @1innisj Pretty sure its just E, B, A. I just played around with those to mimmick his picking and what not. Lottsa distortion sounds goo too

  • RIP Ronald S Howard you and Tracy Pew can start a band together in the great beyond

  • Thank you for your nice wonderful music Rowland ! R.I.P.

  • RIP, Rowland.

  • Why do people say Fender Jaguars are only for "Surf rock"? I'm thinking to buy a 1966 reissue which is being sold in a shop a bit far from my house and i found it isn't a guitar for beginners unless you are a Cobain oriented. Rowland played it anf his Jaguar sounded similar a Strat or a Les Paul or a SG. RIP Rowland.

  • r.i.p. dear Rowland,

    thanxxx for your music!

  • its sad, ill miss him lots

  • Sometimes words poems songs resonate within everyone and this is one of those rare moments RIP Kind Gentleman

  • Sad to know about his death. Thanks for making some of the music that's part of my life !

  • Oh this always happens... I get into someone's art they pass away soon after. George Carlin, Johnny Cash, Charles Bukowski, John Hughes and now Rowland S Howard.

They were all great, and we lost 'em all last decade. RIP all of you; thanks for making my life a little brighter. You will be missed.

  • dont know him, sounds great, will start digging for more stuff

  • Roly xxx

  • R I P

  • He had lots of other great songs. One of the greatest song writers this country has ever produced. RIP Roland.

  • @GEEMELLOW: definitely one of the best song writers ever, without a doubt. His work in all his bands rings with both genius and humility. So sad that he's gone.

  • @GEEMELLOW I wouldn't attribute his artistic success to any country.

  • Damn shame. RIP Rowland.

  • Thanks for the memories of the fresh faced and intense young man driving the guitar of the Boys Next Door in late 70's. Condolences to family and friends. - Rob H

  • Good work mate. Love always.

  • RIP Rowland another Great Artist gone before they should have. But the Music Lives!!!

  • Just found out about the passing of Rowland. Very sad news. Saw him late October in Sydney - and he was great. He did look sick in comparison to recently (saw him earlier in the yr at Nick Cave's ATP) - but did not hinder his guitar playing & songs. This is a great performance of a song which might have been his albatross - but he should have been given a Victorian Medal for his solo work, These Immortal Souls, Crime & the City Solution, Birthday Party & his records w/ Lydia Lunch & Nikki Sudden

  • RIP we will always remember a great musican

  • rest in peace

  • Rest in peace, Rowland.

  • Beautiful. Thanks for everything, Rowland. RIP.

  • I remember

    Love & respect

  • RIP

    Great musician!

  • I'll always remember Brown St.

    godspeed Rowland.

  • brilliant song, brilliant man.....RIP Rowland...

  • RIP Roland. Taken too soon.

  • Mesmerising.

  • RIP Roland, such a brilliant talent gone too too soon

  • RIP Rowland. You will forever be missed.

  • he's an honest man

  • yeah i know he's awesome... but he looks like a creeper.

  • Roland wrote this amazing song and performs it way better than Nick Cave or anybody else....the guy deserves a music award and a castle.

  • not as good as nick

  • Fantastic, thanks for posting!

  • Thanks for the extra info. Should be able to track it down now.

    Tony

  • Thanks for the heads up on the book. It is very sad that this book is difficult to track down. Do you know where it`s available? I`ve googled but to no luck. Cheers

    Tony

    Dead Radio

    She Cried

    Shivers

    White Wedding

    Exit Everything

An absolute and unique performer, composer, singer, guitarist, writer...one in a million. HATS OFF to Mr. RSH!

  • tHE BEST GUITARIST .......THE MOST WONDERFUL VOICE!!! ROWLAND.S.HOWARD...A GOD AMONGST MEN!!!!!!

  • I could not agree with you more! I find it a little funny how this song gives me a slight case of the shivers every time I hear it, especially when Howard sings it. Also, he looks (physically) a lot like my old friend Gabe who was quite talented on the guitar as well.

  • This is wonderful, thanks. It brought a tear to my eye!

  • Just perfect.

  • Thanks for posting it! My favorite living rock guitar player. Great, great...

  • Excellent! Thanks.

  • fabulous. never seen this before.
