There are many good concientous ppl in these countries and the culture is liberal enough, but this is not always reflected in the governments actions (particularly if a right wing party wins). India's not perfect, but its culture is also becoming more vibrant and liberal now and its a democracy so its rise would not impact the world order negatively. And China could be just as good if the 'quit the CCP movement gains momentum'.

The educational comparison is simple. In China and India, the parents have to pay for their child's or children's education. While, in the US, the parents taxes payment or other taxpayers, have already covered the cost of schools and supplies such as books. Point is, Chinese/Indian parents are more strict on their child's or children's education than American parents. My mother is Asian and sort of old tradition. So, I know the consequences for sacking off.

If you have over a billion people then you are gonna have a lot more smart people than an country like Switzerland which only has 7.6 million people. But is the AVERAGE Indian smarter than the average Swiss? I don't think so and that's what really counts. I've been to both countries and if I had to live in either, I'd choose Switzerland in a microsecond. So it's a lot more complicated that the total number of smart people.
