Don't you think that Barbra just sounds a bit "Smurfy"??? It's so odd... I had never heard Barbra in that voice before, but I'm sure that's because of both video and sound quality. Fortunatelly, she has a deeper voice, although her vocal range is breathtaking! She's THE BEST.

It was my favorite moment of the movie. In an interview, Streisand said she and Kris improvised during the Evergreen song. Example: when she pulls him back toward the mic. also, when she touches his beard. Love it.

I was 7 when this movie came out. My parents packed up us kids to go to the drive in to watch Benji first and then when the kids were asleep we watched this. I remember what a great movie it was with great music and acting. It was also an odd movie for me because it was the first time I can remember ever understanding death. Still love the movie and I am glad it is out on DVD finally.

There was an SNL episode many years ago where Madonna & Roseanne Barr played a New Jersey pair of mother & daughter, and they were in awe of Barb's singing, which they described as "like butter", and "feeling so furclams" (I don't know the spelling). started to laugh, I didn't know Gary Busey was in this move. Elvis Presley was first chosen to play Chris k. Tom Parker wanted a $1.000.000 for Elvis' performance. They said between Elvis and Barbra, they were both control freaks and the chemistry would not work.
I found out recently that Streisand also wrote the music for this song, although Paul Williams wrote the lyrics. I also heard that it is the only song she co-wrote, although I was not able to verify that on the Internet. If that is the only song she co-wrote or composed, that seems strange, since the song was a hit both commercially and critically, winning an academy award for Best Original Song.
Oh my - she still sings this song as beautifully now as she did then - purely delicious. She doesn't need all of the vocal 'acrobatics' that the likes of Beyonce, Aguilera & Co feel is necessary to bombard us with now.

There was an SNL episode many years ago where Madonna & Roseanne Barr played a New Jersey pair of mother & daughter, and they were in awe of Barb's singing, which they described as "like butter", and "feeling so furclams" (I don't know the spelling). I think it meant it gave them the goosebumps. : )

@scoobyandme1 Same here Scooby. We had this sung at our wedding in 1978. You know Beyonce is about to start filming a 3rd remake of A Star is Born. I wonder which version she will remake the 1937, 1954, or this 1976 version? They were all excellent, but this one 1976 with Streisand if my favorite because of the sentimental value. I will be married 34 years this coming March. Congratulations to you and Johnny!

started to laugh, I didn't know Gary Busey was in this move. Elvis Presley was first chosen to play Chris k. Tom Parker wanted a $1.000.000 for Elvis' performance. They said between Elvis and Barbra, they were both control freaks and the chemistry would not work.

I found out recently that Streisand also wrote the music for this song, although Paul Williams wrote the lyrics. I also heard that it is the only song she co-wrote, although I was not able to verify that on the Internet. If that is the only song she co-wrote or composed, that seems strange, since the song was a hit both commercially and critically, winning an academy award for Best Original Song.
