  • can this be done with an ethernet cable?

    It would help greatly

  • How do you get the motor cause I can't find one

  • But how much voltage of engine is needed?

  • I tried it with two different fans, and it didnt work! Fan just wont spin at all. Please help me!

  • @filiplttt you must see the voltage of the engine because usb port gives out 5 volts.

  • nice work ... great idea of making fan with old cd .... appreciate your work .......!!!

  • i just made one of these things, and i do not recommend anyone else do.

It was fun to make, and is a really good idea, but its better to just go out and buy one. Doing the wiring was easy, but making the fan blades was really annoying, they kept cracking and was just really annoying.

So dont make one unless your really bored and hot

  • Does look dangerous, but it's effing awesome haha :D

  • Couldnt you....Just go to a website like newegg....And buy casefan for 3$ with shipping...And then just plug that into a usb adapter instead of potentially....you know...electrocuting yourself....or overloading a usb hub?

  • @TheLittleCuteThing its not just about getting one, its also about creating one

  • Dangerforce really

  • where do i get a small engine from?

  • @xmaTKDmma the source or circuit city

  • Looks really dangerous.

  • Pleasant HURICANE !!! ROFL !!!

  • @JohnMinigun lol

  • @imartificial Just remarkable to use CD as a vending fins (or how it calls) and only part i don't have is USB pluggin ... damn !!! :))

  • @JohnMinigun

i bought mine from ebay frm hongkong for just 2 $. lol.

  • im afraid the cd will fall off and then fly off and cut me when its flying

  • I have got a laptop with overheating issues so I took an old PSU fan rated for 12 volts, mounted it in a cardboard box (that originally held sweet peppers) and I sit the laptop on it, powering the fan with a USB plug (5 volts) which ensures a gentle breeze and very quiet operation. It does the business ensuring the laptop runs cool. Running a 12 volt DC motor at 5 volts is safe, it just runs slower, cooler and quieter.

  • @MartinJWillett I don't think it would be safe.

  • @imartificial It has been safe for many months now, and considerably safer than the whirling bit of sharp plastic featured in your video.

  • The motor ampers comsuption in safe for USB port??

What kind of motor is best for that? How many volts? what is the minimun motor voltage suggested?

    Gracias

  • @jhonilson

I took the motor from a toy car which uses 3 x 1.5 v batteries. i had checked the requirements before using. i think the usb port gives 5 v. it will be best if u check all the requirments and limits before using any eqipments.

  • is this safe?

  • whats the power of engine?

  • what did he do to Cd with candle? making it hard to give shape like a fan?

  • lol thanx dude

  • hahah isnt it harmful

  • punk_hellrider@live.com

  • i bet that shit cant stay on that long i no cuz i mess with thos lil moters all da time

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL IS SO EASY

  • lol. i have an old broken computer and i broke open the power suply to get the cooling fan and hooked it to the red and black wires of a usb connecter and its blowin on me now :D

  • very nice, creative and affordable. nice job.

  • hahahah i want it!

  • its cool, and it works. nice job ; )

  • Cool it looks like a jet engine

  • Taliban fan lol

  • Shit man your doing it rite from scratch eh? Hahah

  • it's very nice!

  • that shit is gonna cut yer fingers offa

  • where do i find the motor if i DON'T have a R.C. car

  • @raimps201 radioshack

  • @purk60 i'm not American, North-Europe, Estonia. look it up and please reply if u can. Thx anyway :P!

  • @raimps201 ma ka Eestist. Vaata okidoki.ee seal müüakse igasugu kola näiteks ma sain kolm 5.9 voldist mootorit vanast katkisest dvd playerist.

  • Now works good.

Just the "neck" is a little weak ( I use the tub from toilette paper!)

I will try to do it better next time.

    Thx body.

  • Nice. 1 question:

USB = 4 cables (red, green, black and withe.

Witch colors I have to use?

    Thaks.

  • great idea for cutting fingers xD

  • que poronga sinseramente

  • where can u get a small engine from?

  • @TechGuy12341 R.C. Car

  • electronic shop, but don't buy a step motor like in cpu fans because it needs a different kind of hook up. Ask for a small dc motor

  • WTF I made one, plugged it in and my computer said " now commencing fan " ??

  • rofl, stfu

  • touch it and it will cut u

  • Cool !

  • low quality.

  • do u no how many volts it is??

  • @hahaOSAMAhaha 5v comes out of USB

  • thnx =)

  • This takes a lot of time and effort, and you still need all those parts, hardly cheaper than a 1.99 made fan

  • wow this is what might happen fan flys off and cuts your throt

  • @123454d no way would a cd cut into a fan blade ever cut off your throat, but it'd still make a great youtube video.

  • you made a hardware saw. congrats :)

  • hey can we use a candle stick if we don't have cork?

  • no it'd prolly melt

  • eh its hard to cut. Oh shit did I just cut the CD that all my pictures were on. Shit not again!!

  • Comment removed

  • where do u get the motor

  • Well, you could find one from an used hard drive, or a cd/dvd/whatever drive. I'm quite sure you can find someone/somewhere those for free (or atleast less than 5$), like at a recycling center.

You could also just build one, I'm sure there is some instructions on the net. :)

  • for suicide emos is very cool

  • a piece of the disk flew and hit my eye!

im now blind in my left eye lollo

    JK BTW

  • HAHAHHA I LOLD

  • Awesome man this is F*CKING Awesome.

can you specify more about the engine??

    thanks

    PM me.

  • engine stats: small engine, 5 VOLTS POWERED. usb output is 5 volts, so thats why its so powerfull. or more powerfull then those computer fans:p also the CD is big, so the flow of wind is nice. the engine is most likely just 0.3 A... doesn't need to mutch:P if not, it will turn into a saw0.0

  • hm 12 volt ftw :D

  • nice work bending the cd into fanblades... you must have gotten pretty good at it scince the fan would probably shake itself apart if 1 or 2 blades are bent more than others

  • Watches too much McGyver.

  • @nolobede hahahaahahahahahahah thas a good one

  • WTF where did you get the engine from

  • Cause everyone has a small engine around their house :(

  • the quality can be better

  • is the video quality shit enough

  • i wanna make one, but i dont think i could figure the wiring :(

  • it cut my finger

    :(

  • thats awesome

  • that can kill ppl lol i use that for killign then neither then usb fan lol

  • that's nioce......

  • the quality are shitty

  • @modellmike they are but it is a very good video

  • @modellmike The quality of your English is shitty.

  • @modellmike your grammer are shit lol jk

  • I built the fan and it works. I used batteries. I can't get the disk to come out like yours even when I held it above a candle. I used a DVD no a CD. Is there any difference because mine barely can blow out the candle from not even an inch away. If there is a secret about making the CD that way please tell me. Please can u respond back to me. Thank You.

  • One more thing what are the wires u cut off and where do u put them.

  • Thanks u have been a great help. I'm going to build this to cool off my xbox360 since it is in an entertainment center with a box full of wires and contolers. It is only a couple months old but better to be safe than sorry. Thank you.

  • thats a good idea

  • WTF you fag this isnt even your video GTFO youtube and go blow yourself, this is fucking knobs13's video

  • Thanks but can I get a motor at the dollar store because I don't have any toy cars. Do they also sell connectors I don't think I have one. Well thankyou anyway. I will still try to make one.

  • you can find em in a doller stor and sur the toy cars motors work very well!you can also use a battery insted of the ornge hing and the fan with battery can be moved any where!

    i hop i helped!

  • Where do u find the engine and the wire with the orange thing at the end (at part 0:41 of the video)? I want to make one of these fans for my 360. Please respond back.

  • the orange thing is just a connector u can use any connector. the engiene is a small motor u can find on any toy cars.

  • thats awesome, i have my doubts about the stabilityof the fan blades though, i have visions of a peice of it flying off an blinding me, lol

  • so, you have visions of blindness. lol.

  • if u can in fact have a vision on blindness then yes ( i think the term 'vision of blindness' is actualy an oxy moron, lol)

  • pretty awesome.

  • BAHAHAHAH "pleasent"

  • hey look at my channel i will show u a better way to do this fan and where to buy all of the parts

  • Wow, that's pretty ghetto. What's the current draw?

  • every time i heat the cd with the candle the cd breaks why?

  • maybe you could try using a heat gun (like they use for stripping wall paper) that might be a more gentle heat, but make the plastic soft enough to bend

  • how much voltage is that engine??.

cause the voltage of a usb is 5v DC

  • N.I.C.E

  • nice :D

  • wooow thats cool

  • i find the engine but i cant find that on 0:41!

hurry up pls it is hot here

  • U need to cut the end off of ANY USB lead.

  • where did you get the small engine?

  • its an small electric motor, they cost 1 dollar at wallmart

  • Damn she can blow.

  • getto lol

  • getto or not .. build things = awesome!

  • brillaint. Did you create it?

  • After you just saw the entire video, what do you think?

    Captain obvious....

  • helal bea

  • thats great...

  • Nice dude XD

  • nice job man!

  • you must be really bored but good video

  • You too, for watching it ;)

  • haha thts nice

  • Lovely, resourceful.

  • audio? =/

  • Dangerously nice.

  • mmm breezy

  • NICEEEE!!!

  • I did one with a hard disk cooler. Result: Shit, it does just a little breeze...

  • were do you get a usb cable like that?

  • u can use an old cell phone usb cable

  • acuestateE!! anda friki

  • people, watch out ive did this some time and you maybe will get usb problems of over powering

    my motherboard was ruined!

  • where do i get the "small engine" ?? Reply

  • Local electronics store

  • out of anything that moves....

the best wouls probly be an xbox controllers moter/rumble pack.

  • Its dangerous indeed, but its WAY better than the shitty USB fan i made by using the 8cm/80mm fan from an old PC! the air pressure that it gives away is just ridiculous!!

  • im gonna need this usb fan to cool my hairy balls while using my computer.

  • is there a driver to turn this thing on or off?

  • you could just attach a small rocker switch

  • Idea sure is good, but 1x 120mm fan is not that ex + 1x IDE/sata adapter with psu is far cheap than getting urself in the hospital, and adapter aint that ex + its usage is quite pretty practical if u work with HDD alot

  • yup 1986michaelmcgill is right... is a nice idea but very dangerous...

  • wow good idea man but where did you get the small engine from i made a fan for my ps3 and it was out an old pc and a unused usb hub and its good for cooling my ps3 but its shit for the wind.. add holma2k8 if u av ps3

  • sweet

  • THAT SHIT IS DANGEROUS AS HELL. IF THAT THING FOR ANY REASON COMES LOOSE UR GOING TO THE HOSPITAL WITH LACERATIONS.just get a case fan that's used for a computer and splice to the usb output on Ur ps3.

  • Comment removed

  • lol dont touch it.

  • you should tape and insulate the USB data wires so they dont short out b/c it might mess something up on your pc, i dunno

  • super, I want one of this fan.

  • Yeah , that pretty unsecure ,there's big chance that will just flew in your face and shred it like shit.

    just my opinion :S

  • nice nice

    pero muy dificil

  • Very nice!!!

  • cool!

but what if the fan flew out at your face when u didnt notice it.

    doesnt look secure =/

  • Whats the orange thingy at 0:42

  • connector blocks

  • wow...alot of work...you must be bored, like me thats why im posting this..im bored. got anything simple?

  • Sweet

  • wow

  • I'll try!!

  • i could feel the wind, anyway i m going to try this myself!! thanks for the video..

  • it's MOTOR, not engine, fucking retard.

  • Was that even necessary? I understand your correction, but calling names? why? doesn't make any sense at all.

    BTW, awesome fan

  • because tons of people have been doing that swapping the words motor and engine around and its really pissing me off. srry lmao

  • the german word for "the orange thing" is "Lüster Klemme" I don't know the English word for it, but it's just a thing with wich you can connect cables. You do not really need it.

  • This is worthless without sound and some instructions!

  • exactly! all this dickhead is doing is showing us he can put together a fan... what an idiot, how about some specs and parts names before u waste my time?

  • if you werent a brain dead arsehole you would know how to do this without instructions. just watching the video was enough for me.

  • how the fuck am i a braindead arsehole? im sorry i don't magically know how the thing's supposed to be fucking wiring you stupid idiot. Why make a tutorial if you're not gonna have sound or any step by step subtitles... You're full of your own shit mate

  • huh? are you an retard?

  • it seems that you, sir are the one that is an retard

  • its A retard not an retard

  • don't worry about him, he fails miserably at insulting people.

  • I have got a Red, Blue, Yellow and Brown wire. Which one goes to which?
