An alternate version of what MTM should have made for WKRP is the cat pressing a button on a nearby cart machine (what radio stations use)(similar to an 8 track tape deck) & hearing it play a recording of him meowing.

Yep, this is the alternate, all right -- the one from the show "WKRP in Cincinnati" had Les Nessman going "ooh!" instead of the meow sound . . .

Too bloody bad that ALL the MTM productions logos got *dumped* in favour of "20th Century Fox TV" being tacked on the endings (When News Copr bought out the MTM catalogue).

Wish they'da just let "the cat" meow...and *then* tack on the "20th" logo.

Wrong!! The MTM logos were retained on "Newhart" and "WKRP in Cincinnati" on WGN America. "St. Elsewhere" and "Hill Street Blues" on ALN. So it's Fairly Common.
