  • Aldo Nova plays on a cut from the cd "Back In My Arms Again". We played the heck out of this casette when it first came out. "She Did The Same Thing" was another big hit. We had a great college radio station that played so many great new artists. He had another hard rocker album called "Everybody's Crazy" from 1985, which is now out on cd. Then he hit it big with "Hunger" and off the hard rock train.

  • Opened for Bob Seger in support of this album when no one knew who he was!

  • @carmital Are there any recordings of his earlier live performances during these years (apart from those 5 in Youtube uploaded by RawkTheNations and originalsin19)? I'm REALLY wanting to hear more of his earlier live performances.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Honestly, I have no clue. This is the only song my friend and I ever got into and literally listened to it over 50 times, over and over again in my first car, a 74 Pontiac LeMans back in 1982.

  • Has anyone tabs for this awesome song? :D

  • His best song.

  • I got into an argument with a guy from ZROCK about this album. They never knew Bolton did hard rock. Bob Kulick did the lead guitar. Don't recall the other musician's on album. Not one of rock's brighter moments.

  • I knew if I looked hard enough, I'd find this one. What I remembered was the footsteps on the metal bridge thingy.

  • The first time I heard this song, it was with Axel Rudi Pell with Jonny Gioeli vocals. but I prefer the original

  • before vh1 got him

  • Bolton should perform this song in concert.

  • @challenger7010 That might scare off all the soft, namby-pamby fans that don't know about these good songs.

  • @challenger7010

Bolton should go back to hard rock.

  • Had this cassette and wore the damn thing out!...Bolton was an awesome rocker.

  • I used to watch this videoclip in 1983 in a show called "Club 9" in Lima, Peru, hosted by Gerardo Manuel.

  • wow ! Impress !! but i still luv his soft rock for better : ))))

  • JACK SPARROW!

  • I USED TO HAVE THIS ON CASSETTE, NEVER SEEN VID THO TIL NOW. HOLY CRAP! WHY DOESN'T VH1C PLAY THIS INSTEAD OF SAME OLD SCORPIONS?

    GO 80S!

  • nice art directed clip, great aor music

  • Very Aldo Nova sounding this is awesome I have the original cd!

  • @headmonsterzero69 : If you have the original CD, from the early eighties, then you will notice that Aldo Nova plays some keyboards and also does some guitar work, on this disc with Bolton. Overall, it's a good CD, with more than a few catchy tunes on it. Also released just after this previously mentioned disc (that's just titled simply, "Michael Bolton") is another disc that is pretty good and has another catchy tune, the title track from "Everybody's Crazy". It was put out in 1985.

  • Wow--I hadn't heard this in what seems like two lifetimes ago!:)

  • My intro to Bolton. I thought he was a rocker.....

  • He made 4 or 5 great rock albums.

  • What pisses me off is that not one of his greatest hits/best of collections even have this song, if not only ONE. Gotta get this one from his 1983 S/T album at iTunes for 99 cents. I don't want his 1987-present soft rock stuff. I only want stuff from his earlier yrs.

  • @bucky468 You can buy this CD album(the original 80`s CD release)on Amazon for less than $4 including shipping cost!

  • @954cudaman Found it at iTunes. I only want 2 or 3 songs from the album. Wish the entire CD was posted at YT but Sony-BMG obviously won't have it. Damn RIAA!

  • @bucky468 Why buy only 2-3 songs at 99 cents each when you can have the Original Columbia 9 track release on CD with the artwork(all in mint shape) for less than $4? You will have the original which you can put on your IPOD or a friends endlessly.

  • @954cudaman Good point. That is the better deal.

  • I remember in 83 when this first came out on MTV! Wow-amazing! I never had heard of him(Bolton)before. I thought this song especially with his stage persona was fantastic. I expected great things from him&his band. Then he disappeared like many early 80`s one hit wonders of that era only to appear in the late 80`s with a totally different music style which earned him great success&a Grammy. I only wish he had stayed with the hard rock genre which lead to pop/glam/heavy metal as Bon Jovi did.

  • It is his first album, I bought the 45 to this song, it Rocks!

  • This is Michael Bolton back in 1983...I Think it was his first album - He used to rock on..now..????

  • About 1982..This was when her ROCKED!

  • back when Mike used to really ROCK!!!

  • Michael, you've done great through the years, but you should've kept on rocking... from a friend

  • Wow! Just tried playing this on guitar and IT IS pretty much "Fantasy".

  • before he's lost for rock'n'roll...

  • Great song..never saw the video until now. Looks like it was shot in the same place that Luke Skywalker fought Darth Vader in the Empire Strikes Back! I want the 80s back!!

  • @libertymakeiteasy My idea of heaven is when you die you go back and see all of your friends and loved ones and relive the 80's one more time!

  • best Michael Bolton hit ever, the guy rocked back then.

  • I consider this tune to be the transitional song bridging his Blackjack years and his superstar ballad era. It peaked at #82 on the May 21, 1983 Hot 100 chart. He must have by this time changed his performing name to Bolton because people couldn't say his real name (Bolotin) correctly. It was 4 years after Blackjack's sole pop hit (Love Me Tonight) and 4 years before he resurfaced as the soft-rock crooner we all came to know.

  • Bobby Torello from Thunderhead/ Johnny Winter on drums!

  • Hey this is great.I remember this being the first time I'd heard of him back then...Whatever he sings-he's got the pipes to do it....even if some of it was kind of schmaltzy back in the day....At least he made a pile of cash;good for him.....

  • This is only "kick ass rock and roll" when compared to his other shit... I mean, this ain't gonna give Motorhead or Black Sabbath any sleepless nights... still pretty wimpy...

  • Rocks!

  • Love It especially 3:25 -3:43 CUTE ;D

  • Love this song sooooo glad I found it on youtube I could not remember the title :)

  • Actually, this whole album is awesome. It's difficult to tell people that you enjoy Michael Bolton's older stuff. Those people don't realize that he once ROCKED! Great tune here.

  • @Mr96tears you're absolutely right his first two albums were great....100% aor

  • @Mr96tears Totally. Bolton's self-titled '83 album and Everybody's Crazy are two of rock's best kept secrets. Once I heard this song I instantly understood how prog purists feel about Genesis.

  • @Mr96tears

I remember it getting quite a bit of air play in Wichita in '83. Forgot about it, then heard it numerous times in Kansas City on 101 the Fox and KY 102 in the late '80s and early '90s. Bought the CD at Camelot in a sale bin, left it a my girlfriend's house, we broke up, never got it back, but luckily I found it again it a used CD place.

You're so right; the WHOLE CD rocks!!!!

  • OMG - I never heard this - never saw this!!! Does anyone know what year he did this? It's great!

  • @TXBluebird Hi, i believe this was 1983 , thanks for watching

  • @loverman2005 This Is When Michael Bolton Knew Kick Ass Rock And Roll

  • @loverman2005 This Is When Michael Bolton Knew Kick Ass Rock And Roll Now Hes Into That Bullcrap Soft Shit

  • @scumbag1965 yea, the bullcrap soft shit made him alot of cash..do you really think he gives a fuck about what ya think??? make sure mommy makes your bed again....don't fuck with new haven conn.

  • @jodonte1 Dude When I Want Your Opinion I IWill Beat It Out Of You Then Then Know Your Role And Shut The Fuck Up

  • @scumbag1965 45 years old, and mommy still makes your bed....what a cunt....

  • @scumbag1965 45, and mom is still making the bed for ya.....supp with that?...

  • @scumbag1965 And has laughed all the way to the bank....

  • @loverman2005 you are right it was from his 1983 self titled release on Columbia/CBS Records :)

  • @TXBluebird It made it on MTV a few times back in 83-84 (when MTV played music vids.)

  • @TXBluebird, Way back in 1983! I am NOT a Michael Bolton fan, but remember this song very well as they ran TV ads on his self-entitled album. I actually remember the ad slinging the album as "9 hard shots of straight-up, American rock and roll!" Ah, those were the days!

  • @TXBluebird -It peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in 5/28/83 at #82. Our album rock station played this alot in Indianapolis that late spring and summer, which kind of forced our top 40 station to play it as well(even though it didn't get national airplay). A friends brother wore the whole album cassette tape out. Right after this album,Bolton went mellow and didn't do any more rock songs.

  • This is the only Michael Bolton song I liked. After so many years and much more expanded tastes and knowledge, I have to say that this song is not that great. It is kind of cookie cutter of the era in which it was performed. It's like they were copying Aldo Nova. Aldo Nova had the skills on the guitar though.

Music since just before the grunge movement doesn't have any great guitarists who can do shredding solos anymore. Am I missing something?

  • Damn this dude can sing!!!

  • This is when he was a rock singer and a damn good one.

  • I saw Michael in concert several times in the 90's and he never did this song. I always wanted to hear it "LIVE". I have the cassette and love the song !

  • This voice goes perfectly with loud melodic guitars. Too bad he went soft. Blackjack would've been one of the all time greats

  • Michael Bolton is great!! This song and many others!!! keep rocking!!!/ Jk.

  • No joke and you can research this....when Ozzy was fired from Black Sabbath, Tony Iommi actually considered hiring Michael Bolton to replace OZZY. NO I'm NOT kidding

  • @bornbrit777 WOW.....Can you imagine

  • Ahhh the good music, I wish todays musicans would take lessions from these artists of the past and do music right instead of all the wierd stuff their doing. This was THE era of True good music take lessions and Learn, these are the God Fathers and mothers of Music for the Future...

  • Incredible pipes... coulda been a contender!

  • Gotta agree with so many here. I really liked this song and remember it well when it came out in '83. Even played it on my college radio show! His best song , period. What followed was crap by comparison. Too bad he changed, although he made a ton of money with his truckload of ballads.

  • i liked him like this...the sell out he became i dont like and have no respect for.

  • The ONLY song he did that i like.

  • Bolton at his best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never Better.

  • I rememer the band being called Bolton...

  • i think i actually saw this on mtv once. so if this was 1983, when (and for heaven's sake why, lol) or what year did he decide to drop this sound for sappy love songs. he's actually a few yrs. ahead of times with this song. light pop metal/hair band stuff started mid 80s.

  • Only song I ever liked by him!

  • Only song I ever liked by him!!!!

  • LOVE THIS SONG. I just hate the sappy ballad crap he went on to sing.

  • I know this video since 1983(at 16 years old). I watched in a show called Disco Club in my country Peru, right after Cheap Trick's I want you to want me.............later came Dio

  • Yes sir!!! 1982. That's right ... before the sellout. No, but seriously, I guess the money wasn't there doing the rock n' roll thing .... sappy ballads anyone?

For a not too recent refresh check out "Hometown Hero" and "

    "Everybody's Crazy."

  • great tune still rock it what 25 years later

  • WOW!! THANKS!!

  • Kinda has a Ritchie Blackmore's street of dreams sound to it. Great song none the less.

  • THIS IS ON MY 6TH MIXTAPE FROM 1987! :)

  • ironic, as he later played a 'fools game' with his shitty 'can I touch you there?' bland crap

  • Nice lyrics and rhythm. I love this song!

  • This is a great song!

  • This is on my 4th mixtape from 1987! :)

  • to anyone who gives negative comments on his Pure Vocal abilities, maybe you should pull your head out of your ass, and listen to the range in his voice, he is an awesome vocalist, and i dont care what all you haters think, i have both of his albums from the early 80's and although almost all songs relate to somekind of relationship, he was an amazing singer, and his band had some pretty good players too !

  • @GranP I don't think you are being realistic. He sings like the back portion of his tongue is pushed further back in his throat the whole time. It's very limiting. I'm not a hater and this topic is going to be subjective unless you are an expert, but that has always been my perception of his vocals.

  • check out blackjack...... it was his first breakthrough band with Bruce Kulick....

  • Wow, who'd have thought you could use the words "Michael Bolton" and "cool" in the same sentence?

  • Ah the days before he ripped off other people. He sounds a bit like....David Coverdale.

  • The vocals here rival any of the great rock singers and I saw this vid when it first came out and that THAT is kick ass. Haven't heard this since then. Talk about some nostalgia. Dude had pipes.

  • He sounds surprisingly like Eddie Money here. I love this song so much. I'd totally rock it driving down the highway under the streetlights late late at night.

    ***** 5 STARS

  • MY EX WENT AND BROKE MY RECORD...HE MUST HAVE KNOWN I WAS ONTO HIS GAME[LOL]

  • Had he stuck with this style I could have actually owned a Michael Bolton CD.

  • @RockinRight I read an interview with Michael Bolton back in the 1990's. He said while he loved playing and singing rock, he was absolutely broke trying to support two daughters by working on being the next big rock act in the 1980's. With over 50 million albums sold, he found a niche that made and is still making him a lot of money. Last I read, the guy is still playing about 100-150 gigs a year. More power to him.

  • thanks for posting this vid, one of my all time favorite Michael Bolton songs!

  • Pienso que Michael dejo de hacer canciones como esta porque necesitaba un cambio de direccion; no encontraba lo que esperaba (en cuanto a ventas) cantando este genero. De todas formas esta cancion me encanta y es mi favorita de este genero. Love you Michael!

  • I still got the cassette from 1983.....lol

  • Too bad Michael Bolton didn't keep this as musical style. Sellout......

  • Bolton, before the big love ballad decade was mainly a major song writerin LA.tHIS IS HIS GO AT POP ROCK IN THE 80'S

  • This song is sooo hot!

  • THIZ IZ ON MY 4TH MIXTAPE FRUM 1987! :)

  • I totally do not remember this song. LOL

    Sounds good, though.

  • I remember hearing this song back in 83 while growing up in N.J. Then you didn't hear anything from Bolton until he came out with that Dentist Office Music!

  • He had another great song called She did the same Thing. Both were played on KLOS, I think he stopped doing rock when he began losing his hair.

  • Why couldn't he have done more rockin' stuff like this?

  • Very catchy tune indeed:)

  • Excellent song when he was a true rocker!!

  • This song INSTANTLY got me hooked, then Everybody's Crazy. I recall a readup bio in Hit Parader magazine as well, or Circus. It was almost hard to believe this is the same guy. I have segments recorded from radio's Rockline interviews with Bolton back then!

  • I didn´t know he ever sang songs like this one, powerful, not the shitty soul stuff he got into later on... I kinda like this!

  • So much better than that soft rock crap he got into shortly after.

  • Had this song on a complilation tape of metal songs from epic or columbia records....thought he was a balls out rocker...who knew

  • the best Michael Bolton song Ever!

  • OMG!!!! I had this video on a video cassette recorded over and over and over. I was IN LOVE with him, just from this kick ass song!!!!! I love this song, brings back sooo many great memories!

  • This is seriously one of my favorite tunes. Then he went totally into the crapper.... But he smokes on this one! What a waste!

  • Dam Good Song!! Excellent Singer!

  • i totally liked this song in the 80s. it is a shame he didn't do more rock songs.

  • He opened for Bob Seger in Hartford on this album tour...

  • Has anyone got tabs to this song?

  • This is the best song this guy ever did. Everything he did afterwards was just "cookie-cutter" fluff.

  • yeah after that, he sold out to the yuppie crowd.

    yuck.

  • @navdad96818 I've thought the same thing for 25 yrs. He should have kept going in this direction.

  • @navdad96818 Nah, I cannot possibly agree with your comment. have you listened to his newest stuff? It's amazing!! Go on I dare you, listen to his 'One world one love' album. You will love it.

  • love the song just awesome

  • this is my very favorite michael bolton song. i wonder how many of his fans know this song? my high school memories....i saw him sing this in providence right in front of me. then i got to have a pic taken with him! LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have this disc. lol. This is the best song on it by far.

  • Dind't know Michael Bolton did AOR music. This is great stuff!! Way better than the shit he's doin' now.

  • SO AGREE!

  • Awesome Song Too!!!!

    cb

  • I know this video came out around 82 and he rocks in it!

  • I saw him opening for Blue Oyster Cult in 1983 and he was awesome!!! I love this video!!

  • b o L t o n should have stuck with rock, this is awesome, he 'sold out' and turned into a pussy,...........singing soap opera music songs

  • he had to stop singing like a rock star or else his voice would have burned out.

  • OMG! My co-worker just mentioned this vid today! Wow! the year before I graduated AND he had a full head of hair! Tks for the post-awesome!

  • I am one of the few of my friends who remember that he did ROCK Music! I had this album!

  • I totally remember this video. Didn't think I'd ever have a chance to see it again. Go Michael!!!

  • when you have a Tenor voice like Michaels~It's best to stop singing screaming rock and roll, your voice will burn out for good~This is great rock and roll but,I wouldn't want him to loose his beautiful voice~His ballets are as beautiful or even more than this~

  • I love Micheal Bolton"s Music! I've never heard this song ! Great tune!IF someone special Trying to send me a message? I made up my mind I'm waiting for You!ox!

  • funny shit here

  • Too bad he stopped rockin' and went wet noodle with all the ballad shit!!

  • I love this song. Why did he have to go to the dark side?

  • He didn't go to the dark side, the Michael Bolton you see nowadays is "Mirrored Bolton!"

  • Anyone remember when Bolton opened up for Whitesnake? Anyone remember people holding up signs that said "Bolton Rules?" Boy those were the days indeed!!

  • He still rocks ! I've seen him live. He's main goal is to make old ladies weep a little but he showed that he is still strong. And he has an impressive tenor voice too.

  • One of my favorites by Bolton. Too bad he stopped rocking and started covering. His career could have been so different.

  • What a sell out this guy is. He used to rock. Then he started screaming and appeasing old ladies drinking glasses of wine with dinner.

  • Joe Lynn Turner did backing vocals on the album..As he did on Cher's three Geffen albums.....

  • Actually, JLT didn't appear on Bolton's first two albums, but they did hang around in the same circles. Another phenomenal vocalist.

  • Michael sounds like a soulful version of Paul Stanley in his early rock career, especially in this song.

  • Comment removed

  • You think so, huh? I just think it's a personal opinion of mine.

  • Dude, that ain't fucking funny, OK! I knew you were agreeing with me, but don't tell me to fuck myself when I didn't even mean to say anything offensive. Have a sense of humor for once and leave me alone!

  • I remember having the cassette tape of the album this song came from. It was one of my favorites. Later, I even bought it on CD. He was great before he turned into a pansy!

  • This has always been one of my favorite songs, It Rocks !!!!

  • One of the guys playing on guitar has got to be Joe Lynn Turner......he did some work with him at that time....JLT as his own unique style....

  • your right on joe lynn turner, but aldo nova did a lot of work on this album

  • This song and album contains Bruce Kulick (future Kiss).

  • These jewish american rockerave that little "je ne sais quoi"... miammmmm

  • was meant to be "rockers have"... I should learn to type a lil less fast

  • I loves me some husky emotional singers

  • What is a white Teddy Pendergrass..... Michael Bolton

  • He was a good rocker, until he started shooting up estrogen.

  • This is the REAL, ONE and ONLY Bolton!!!! He ROCKS!!! AMAZING!!!! His first three solo albums were FANTASTIC!!!!!!
