@sw0rd0fadvers1ty too right. love the guitarish piano accordion medieval piratey awesome piratey pirate dancing pirate part in the middle. it reminds me of pirates for some reason...
This is the best music ever.Never heard of Blackmore's Night before I happened to listen their songs especially Ghost of a Rose and Fires at midnight.I get very emotional listening to their songs. It's just great.
@diadane85 It's Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple. After 40+ years of being a professional musician, I'd imagine he's capable of so much more than current players, especially in terms of diversity.
We burnt some fires a midnight for our Pagan Mabon (Fall Equinox) Rites last night. Under a big beautiful Harvest Moon. It's wonderful to be one with the sacred mysteries of the Universe!!!
This is the only song I've found that I can listen to repeatedly and never ever get tired of it. I've listened to this song since I was 13, only stopping at age 18 when my computer mysteriously deleted it and almost all my other music. About a week ago, guess what I found hiding out on an old external hard drive of mine? :)
Absolutely LOVE this song!! It's been on repeat for a while now. Just discovered Blackmore's Night, and they are my new favorite band. Almost forgot how much I love this type of music. <3
Such an incredibly beautiful voice. Usually I don't care too much for vocals and stick with instrumentals, but this is an obvious exception. Absolutely beautiful.
We burnt some fires a midnight for our Pagan Mabon (Fall Equinox) Rites last night. Under a big beautiful Harvest Moon. It's wonderful to be one with the sacred mysteries of the Universe!!!
Awesome freaking folk song! I definitely got into this song; Blackmore's Night is awesome.
By the way, since it has been discussed in the comments here, I am a metalhead as well yet still enjoy folk bands like this one, Death in June, Sol Invictus, Jethro Tull, Gryphon, and so on (the type of folk varies, of course, but you get the idea). I should listen to more folk music.
@adiabatka I do listen to folk metal and, to not as great of an extent, pagan metal. Some of the bands I'm into are Korpiklaani, Orphaned Land, Skyclad, Eluveitie, Turisas, Primordial, Mael Mórdha, Uaral, Waylander, Agalloch, Ensiferum, Empyrium, Holy Blood, and so on and so forth. This type of music is a testament to how both metal and folk can come in a large variety.
@TheSymmachus Wow, you really know what is good ;) Have you ever heard some songs by Arkona? It is a Russian band with great woman singer :) My favourite song is Goi, Rode, Goi! If I listen this music (and also Korpiklaani, Eluveitie and many others) I am in the other world... The celtic instruments and great guitar in it... mmm, that's mine! :)
@adiabatka That is pretty cool. I have heard of Arkona, but I haven't checked them out yet. I think I will check out the song you mentioned after writing this comment.
I keep hearing so many people say that metal heads are not supposed to like this band. This hurts my head! Why are people only allowed to like and enjoy one genre? Is this a law or something? I have been a metalhead since 1978 and if I did not love good quality metal I would not be able to love and appreciate and enjoy this band as much as I do. I hear more power in this than most bands that make my ears bleed. The extreme talent, versatility, and emotion of all the artists is rivaled by few.
@DancesWithJoy Some of us listen to everything. I love BN here, I listen to folk and pagan metal, Celtic, mongolian throat singing, tribal music from Ghana and Botswana, europop, classoc, oldies, bagpipes. You name I listen to it-mostly lol, I go with the flow and what I like. btw love the name u have
This band i like because of the medievil sound and fantasy lyrics though i really should'ent because i am quiet a hardend metal and hard rock head but the music is great and candice isa quality singer i think this band helped out mr blackmore he did not seem to have much of a direction of where he was going musically so it helped him settle down
@TheBazman111 its very easy to listen to metal and get sucked into listening to only metal. i was like that for around 2 years, but ive opened myself up alot and have found thousands of great bands!
There are tons of fantasy-themed bands, but you don't hear many with this kind of medieval sound. It's really great and unique. I should probably buy this entire album...
This music can heal everything, because it takes us to another world of fantasy and magic, and Candice Night sings these songs with love and happiness, so you feel better when you listen to it :)
Hello friend! I agre with you, i feel kind of same feelings when i listen to Candice she is really fantastic sometimes i think here what the happiness of love makes with people they can bring it into the world, share it with another people. I feel much better too and energise myself with some positive things and imagine, imagine, imagine of someting good.

yes your correct though i don't consider winter carols to be anything more than a covers album albeit carol covers with the exception of a couple of tracks.good album all the same mind
I don't see how a mix of traditional carols and their own Winter themed songs count as a 'covers album', especially considering that they include a variety of covers on all their albums...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
because all but two tracks ARE covers that's why.the other albums have all but two at most that are not covers.can you see the difference or do you wish me to go into more detail?!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
once again and this is my final comment to you.all but two songs are not composed by blackmore and co therefore making it covers album no matter who wrote the music previously be it hendrix/tull/handel satan or anybody else (even you god forbid).finito
They are *TRADITIONAL* carols, which is very different from usual 'covers'. Hence, refering to it as a 'covers album' is rather misleading. Many bands cover traditional songs, but because those songs have no definitive original artist {and/or author}, they are regarded differently to standard covers.
Also, their other studio albums contain a mix of cover, traditionals, and 'trad interpretations' {Ritchie's re-workings of trad tunes}.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

Fires At Midnight I stood out here once before With my head held in my hands For all that I had known of this place I could never understand On the hills the fires burned at midnight Superstition plagued the air Sparks fly as the fires burn at midnight The stars are out and magic is here I wished on the seven sisters Bring to me wisdom of age All that's locked within the book of secrets I longed for the knowledge of a sage
On the hills the fires burned at midnight Superstition plagued the air Sparks fly as the fires burn at midnight Stars are out the magic is here The stars are out the magic is here So, the sisters smiled to themselves And they whispered as they shone And it was from that very instant I knew I would never be alone While on the hills The fires burned at midnight Superstition plagued the air Sparks fly as the fires burned at midnight Stars are out and magic is here
The stars are out and the magic is here Many stars were forgotten Many faded and became ghosts Still my sisters glittered down from heaven Always there when I needed them most And on the hills the fires burned at midnight Superstition plagued the air Sparks fly as the fires burn at midnight Stars are out and magic is here The stars are out and magic is here I stood here once before
