all that roes dawg, I encourage people now to throw them away. just youtube video how to make trout caviar and they taste like sunshine i promise you.
It looks so easy, but I totally agree with fishflaps123 ...... hahahaha, probably I will lose a finger to :) Btw don't you use the fish eggs??? If you do, how do you prepare/use them?? Keep the good work going :)
Im new to fishing and trying to learn some outdoor skills (for 2012 of course) and I was wondering, does this de-boneing you show here work with any kind of fish? Do they all have the same bones is the same general area? This video helped alot and so far it seems to have comments saying its the best on youtube so ill practice with this method, Thank you!
@LuckySchaeffer Well most fish are built the same bonewise, but how they are layed out is different,if you can just learn the overall technique it works pretty well, but you'd need to use different knives and methods for different situations.
I should have looked this up last night before I let dad cook the fish lol. We caught some and he knew how to gut them but not removes the bones meaning after they where cooked I tore that fish apart piece by pice doing bone removal with my mom yelling about how i was probably going to choke lol
I tried it by far the best way to clean a trout and there is just as munch meat as if you fillet it and there is no dam pin bones I hate those things thanks best video I have seen

I just did this! Cutting the head off was hard work for sure. The guts nearly made me puke because I could see the trouts last meal. The beauty is I actually caught the fish myself from the river. 3 1/2 lb. Hope it tastes nice!
I also watched a ton of video's on de-boning and none of them really gave the information I needed. Being as I never cleaned a fish before and today is the first day of trout season I'm hoping that I can use your technique tonight! Thanks for the video!
Most helpful. the kid in the background made it seem more like a real home. I wonder if that was intentional or perhaps it just worked out that way. anyway Thanks Now I just gotta catch the buggars lol
Very informative. Ive been gutting and cleaning fish for years and not seen it done this well. You Kiwis really know how this stuff is done well. Is there a method that can be done leaving the head on?
Great to hear the baby in the background - a real fishing persons video!
Hey mate, thanks for the comments. Yeah just cut down either side of the back bone and leave the head on. The skin should hold it in place, so you can hang it.
@rivergod21 after you gut it...the first cut is directly down the center of the spine ( backbone) or is the cut to the backbone on one of the sides , not the center?
Thank you for the comment, I don't normally reply to these, but I will to you. Much appreciated and I hope you have tight lines for the rest of your life.
All the way in Seattle, WA here....thanks for the tips. My 3 and 5 year olds caught 5 trout yesterday and we need to clean them to have for lunch today. GREAT tips. Thanks!

Great, a terrific way to dress trout. First is not as easy as you do it, but MUCH better than fillets. Well don.

Tomorrow the our local dept. of natural resources is stocking some lakes with rainbows...i'ma have a go at it.
Hopefully, my fish hunting skills will fill my basket (or at least the 6 limit).
If so, I'll try baking the trout. Your vid helps get me going in the right direction as I'm used to just taking my knife to bass and crappie.
tks.
jjppmm69 2 years ago
I like the vid because it takes the fish's anatomy into account.
What I don't like is that you did not recommend the viewers to use the parts that you disposed of for a great fish soup.
It is a sin to waste good fish meat.

Hey Italia300. Na man that was 4 pounds at the most, (you need to catch some bigger fish dude).
The Taupo fishery needs these ""breeders"" Taken out otherwise we get the ""too many fish in a small pond"" thing going on.
