@TCfoxs Actually George Harrison gave Ringo this song. He wrote it played on it and everything. You can even find an earlier alternative George Harrison version that came out first. Ringo also played drums on a couple of Georges solo work. Plus Ringo has that shitty "all star" band where he rounds up a bunch of has beens to butcher Beatles songs which he's been doing since the 90s. Every year he rounds up a new group of has beens and they do horrible Beatles covers.
Ringo Starr - I don't think anybody else would have been right to be the drummer for the band. can probably say that for all of them - which is why they accomplished what they did.
great song ... another of those classics i love. haha ... i look just like him once you get me on a pair of skis . regardless .. i love it even though my ass spends most of the time on the snow!
Si me acuerdo de este tema,. Era el año 72, lo escuche en la radio. Me gusto al igual que trae recuerdos de mi juventud, ademas en aquel tiempo me iniciaba en la musica rock y toda la musica que terminaba con lo convencional.
@caulinrocker supposedly its Ringo, but I would have thought it was George, because it seems so much more like his style, but,, the fact they played together so long thier influences may have rubbed off on each otherle
@ikambor i figured it out ... it was both of them and there are versions with george on vocals as well but the only one to release it on an album was ringo
Nice little put down by the announcer in the beginning of the video. HAHA. Oh well. I guess he could buff Ringo's shoes if the DJ business ever fell flat for him.
I never unstood why people think Ringo is a lame, he is acutally a very good artist in my opinion, and this song I believe was actuallyt he first solo beatles song to go gold, which is proof that he should be respected, i ean hell ,not only as a solo artist , hes a member of the damned beatles for god's sake
I don't know about which is the official video but his connection with Thomas the Tank Engine is that he was Mr Conductor on the series that my son use to watch when we lived in the UK. I used to love to watch him in it. He was great.
Ringo was the narrator and later played the role of Mr Conductor in the children's series called Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, and Shining Time Station (which featured Thomas the Tank Engine), from about 1984-1989. His speaking voice was very melodious and expressive in that series, and I enjoyed watching it with my young son.
@sweetredredwine I may be wrong but I think this clip was recorded especially for Top Of The Pops... as for the other question, Ringo was the narrator of the Thomas The Tank Engine animated kid's show.
@sweetredredwine the connection with Thomas was Ringo was on a show in the late '80s called Shining Time Station and he was the "storyteller" or something like that during the first season of the show. He left after the first season and George Carlin replaced him.
Richard Starkey is so cute and probably drank because he was treated like dirt by John and Paul. He and George were always the most talented. True class can't be hidden, as we see in this video and Ringo's other works.
@blueberries4ever What do you mean he was treated like dirt by John and Paul? From what I've read about the Beatles, he was loved dearly by each member. They fought with each other a lot, but they didn't really fight with Ringo. When he left the band they each individually sought him out to convince him to come back and filled his drum area with a shitload of flowers when he returned. Paul mighta been a dick now and then, but that's because he thought he could drum better than Ringo
i'd never appreciated the spirit of george coming thru ringo more than i do now and i've rediscovered my love for this song and now i'm gonna track down 'isn't it a pity?'
Around the time this came out, there was speculation as to which of The Beatles would be the one to issue the first really good song after their break up.
John had been trying hard to beat Paul, and vice versa, but confessed that he thought Ringo had beaten them all to it.

George Harrison worked a lot with Eric Clapton and Maharishi.
John Lennon worked a lot with Yoko Ono.
But Ringo Starr is mostly alone. I feel a little sorry for him.
