I own this recording from two sources and they BOTH say Johnny is there as well as Jimi, and Jim. The first source is from Holland, it's on vinyl, called " Woke up this mornin' found myself Dead". The second is a CD called "Hendrix Gold". Disc 1 is this show. You can distictly hear both johnny and Jim in each recording. As for the Morrison freaks, in this he is just a drunkin' fool. sorry if that upset anyone but just a listen and you'll no doubt agree.
@Paul410music Per Johnny Winter himself, he was not there! The only known recording of Johnny and Jimi is "Things I Used To Do", recorded in '68 at the Record Plant in New York...They did jam a lot though... I would love to get ahold of recordings from the frequent jams that Jimi and Jeff Beck had throughout '69 at this same Scene Club...
@Paul410music Jim does sound really bad here. I love it because of the significance of it, Jimbo and Jimmi, but it's sad hearing Jim like that. I've heard his drunken performances, even the Miami performance he doesn't sound as smashed as he does here. It's some what depressing.
Its funny just how much speculation there is surrounding this jam! Yes, Morrison was there. No, Johnny Winter was NOT there. Neither Buddy Miles nor Mitch Mitchell played drums. Yes, Morrison was an a-hole...(That comment will surely get the Morrison worshipper's upset! Come on! Bring it!)
@Greatmk Great! A Morrison fan with common sense! You are a rare thing, my friend! I like him too, but he was a COLLOSSAL loser. Jimi threw HIS life away too and robbed the world of 30-40 years of incredible music we'll never hear...
@jimistreets1 i love morrisons's stuff but i have a feeling he would've been in a joy division/ type of band if he would've lived to see the late 70s. thats where the next generation of dark, trippy, poets. he would've at least dabbled there like neil young did w/ grunge in the 90s. not that im a joy division hater or anything but by comparison nothing could've matched his doors songs
@ilikeblondie he turned arrogant dude... have you read any books on him or the band? we was a head case.. i used to love him in my youth. i still do.. but i question why such a great great great singer could turn into such an arrogant fuck. he started out humble but fame gets the most of everyone.
@iotaminnesota I've read no one here gets out alive. He didnt seem arrogant, when "Jimbo" was on yeah. But that was not as often as people think, even Ray Manzerek says that.
@Foppa921 Its not Mitch. Its Randy Zehringer, the drummer for the house band here at the Scene..Damn that harp sounds like freaking nails on a chalkboard...Morrison must have passed out by this tune, cause he made a COMPLETE FOOL of himself when he took over the mike..Then again, I guess he was just acting normally...
@jimistreets1 Dammitt!! Morrison IS on this tune!!! No wonder Hendrix hated him...Moronson actually stormed the stage at another club and screamed, "I wanna suck your c__k!!", then Janis Joplin cracked a bottle over his head!! True story!!
@bitchimblastinonya some believe Johnny Winter was there too, but he claims he never shared a stage or met Morrison, and Morrison is pretty audible in this track.
@leeehaaam Dude, have you ever even heard of Muse or the Foo Fighters? How about the Killers? Death Cab for Cutie? Adele? Black Label Society? Radiohead? There's some awesome music out there today. You're just too obsessed with the idea that Justin Bieber is a cultural icon to realize it. Did you even notice that he's not on the charts anymore? All musical genres from all generations have worth.
@WickedCityBc You really need to find a new insult. People haven't thought of gay as an insult for years now. Only the most bigoted people consider it a bad thing, and usually that's connected to religion. However, in case you hadn't noticed, the face of religion is changing, as is non-religious society. Using it as an insult only makes you look ignorant and bigoted. Moreover, have you listened to all the bands I mentioned? Because BLS kicks some butt, as does Muse.
@WickedCityBc I happen to pay attention to these bands. For the most part, the individual members are straight, and a band itself, being a collection of people, rather than an individual person, cannot be gay unless every single member is gay. People don't usually question someone's sexuality without research, and a look at some of these artists prove them far from gay. Since small fringes of our society still use gay as an insult, that proves it the most likely connotation.
@thewriter1008, gay originally meant happy im pretty sure. regardless, originally i was insulting them by calling them gay because they all suck dick compared to hendrix.
@WickedCityBc How much have you listened to any of the artists I've heard? Muse is actually a favorite band of mine, and what about Dream Theater? Or The Black Angels? I actually don't consider Hendrix the best guitarist ever. He's amazing, I mean it, but there are better lead players. John Petrucci, David Gilmour, all of them. I don't deny Hendrix's influence over guitarists of the 70s and beyond, but I don't consider him the best. I never have, and I never will.
Another one of the "best blues ever" Hendrix performances is Red house, live at the Isle of Wight Festival, 1970. Played on a Gibson "Flying V", no tremelo. Jimi made that and other sounds on his own. Simply incredible.
19 great performances featuring jim morrison i had it back in 98.......track list Little Wing Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) Purple Haze The Sunshine Of Your Love Bleeding Heart Wake Up This Morning And Found Yourself Dead Tomorrow Never Knows Fire Written-By - HendrixWild Thing Morrison's Lament

I think Jim Morrison is playing the harmonica and sings later in the song. On guitar is also Johnny Winter, I think. Buddy Miles on drums too I believe. Just a jam for them...
This is not for discussion. Also it will never be a voice like Morrison
