Hi, Jaimie. Just wanted to let you (and everyone else) know that you can "like" dockers, vote, then "unlike" dockers, and nothing has changed, except that you have another vote :)
I'm guessing the new mirror got in and he's either cutting some sweet stuff, or his robot rose up and started enslaving the human race with his new-found laser beams.
thank G*d i have a FBaccount with fake name and ~no data.
i assume the vote is still counting (it confirmed voting after all) and it looks good - i looked around, most entries have 3-50 votes. Jamie is heading for 1000.
so chances are not bad - we just have to vote some more ,)
hey jamie i am starting down you road not with the building huge robots but with Do it yourself in general come check out my page and how long did it take before you started to get people watching you? any tips?
I added the application, voted for you, then REMOVED the application.

all ideas are important. just visualize what would you do with money! what project would you build! dont be obsessed about money, just keep project on top of your mind (NOT THE MONEY). money is just a tool, its not an ending point! ideas are unlimited (or limited with your imagination)!
Jamie, look into Kickstarter. It could be just what you're looking for. It is a crowd funding system where you present your idea/project and how much you need to get going.
Check it out, some projects reached nearly a million and 100k is not out of the question.
I hope for your sake you know anyone from Japan because lets face it they love giant walking robots and if you know just one odds are he will tell his friends and thus you will have 100K for your robot easily.
haha i dont think that $100k will get you verry far on your project but hey just want to see you start on some new awesome thing after the GRP is done, so im gonna vote as much as i can!
If you get serious about obtaining grants, you can form a 501(c)3 non profit corporation and seek grants from numerous foundations. The work you do, repurposing "junk" to make living spaces and devices (like the Giant Robot) while living off the grid, is of great educational value. The scale of your achievments is inspirational, and these foundations give away millions for useless crap anyway.
@robertwgardner Hmmm. So like... do you know much about these grants? I haven't tried applying for a fgrant in a long time. I seriously used to get shuffled into the garbage because my plans weren't considered "doable". Maybe now that I've done some, I can get somewhere with some grants.
I've never written/applied for a grant, though I helped form a 501 that considered it. We were a nonprofit purchasing FM radio airtime. We sold advertising on it, and accepted charitable contributions. There are "professional" grant writers who know what they are doing. A slick proposal targeted at specific foundations and programs is a must, along with jumping through hoops to qualify and then documenting all that is involved with verifying your work as you go. You can do it!
@robertwgardner Ugh. So.... basically, I have to turn my back on everything I love in life, and embrace all the things I absolutely despise in our culture. Darnit. Well, at least its an easy decision for me.
Yep. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you MUST! I was a little surprised even at the contest bid, but that didn't require a radical lifestyle change. As you can see, working for grants is NOT like working for yourself! Thanks for keeping it real! I'm thinking once you actually have your GRP out there (with local TV filming), not to mention your LRPs, etc., you might wind up with enough income to do (practically) whatever you want. On your own terms! :)
I got pretty far along in the grant writing process when I was making a "YardFarm" proposal to demonstrate that a decent urban backyard could sustain all the veggies, rabbits, chickens, and catfish a family might need. (Project aborted due to thieving urban neighbors.) The grant proposal should "speak the language" of the grant grantors! "Sustainability" "Repurposing" "Renewable" "Recycling" "Reclaiming" etc. It requires a certain politically correct tone, that's for sure.
If it was some other site I'd probably vote for you, but I'd rather not have some organisation I've never heard of "access my basic information", and facebook apps are just scarily insecure.
@TheMissingno Ya.... I feel the same way. I've never added an "App". Blargh! The walking fortress is something I want to be in my kids world, though. So... I bit the bullet too. :-P
Nice. Done and I'll vote everyday. You are my hero. I've been following your for months now. I viewed all you videos in the span of about 2 weeks. And yes I do mean ALL your videos. You've really inspired me to look into alternative living arrangements. Keep up the good work and any updates on the GRP?
@DeoMachina really easy to sign up for a FB account, dont have to put in your personal info if you dont want.... c'mon, Jamie is actually getting up and doing things, all that you need to do is move the mouse and press some keys, that shouldn't be hard at all
@DeoMachina. The time you used to watch this video, I could create 6 facebook-profiles. Not having one is no excuse for getting one, even if you don't intend to use it.
