  • As adj0408 points out, this was the most ridiculous rule in the history of F1.

  • this was kimi's fault he flat spotted the tyre but still he should of won the championship that year even just for the suzuka drive he did and the pass at the end

  • He should have been the 2005 champion, but the McLaren didn't help, getting failures all the time.

  • in the maclaren years he lost like 18 races for something that wasent his fault

    thats like an season !

  • It was amazing

  • Look at how he misses that BAR Honda by mere inches! Woah. Talk about a near miss.

  • He was pissed off..

  • some rules have been incredibly stupid - the tire rule was just one of them. F1 driver or test dummy?

  • summed up Kimi's season. Best driver of the season, thanks to other ppls f ups, the overrated Spaniard wins the WDC...what a cock of a season.

  • @jwmm4eva He would have won, but his car was always unrealiable.

  • @adrianpantosin It's not that,His car was very unreliable.People knew that ferrari had a chance to win, but their car was also most unreliable.

  • any kimi raikkonen fans on twitter please join me the name is raikkonenfans

  • I remeber this. Really bad luck :S

  • that BAR almost got rolled too -_-

  • He's a high class professional, but he is also very difficult and unsociable person

  • Ah yes, the year Max Mosley had the single set of tires per race rule. It almost cost Kimi his life.

  • he was lucky not to be hit by his wheel

  • almost got touch with Jenson

  • the title of that song please?

  • Tantric - Breakdown

  • kimi could not drive then he was to hard on his tires!!!

  • goddamnit kimi must have been so pissed off after that!! last lap, everything going great and all of a sudden front tire tears off!!

  • no...not everything going great....

  • that Toyota was -extemely- lucky not to be rear ended as Kimi cannoned off the end of the straight

  • Actually, that was a Honda.

    Button's Honda if Im right

  • I love how the American commentator mispronounces Renault

  • Hamilton is gonna end up just like Villeneuve...

  • one of the season's turning points, a win here could've won the title for him (obviously not at this event, but an extra 2 points over alonso instead of dropping 10.)

  • This was one of the reasons that kaikkonen wasnt champion earlier

  • I meant to say that Hamilton hasn't proven he's in league with Raikkonen. You probably figured that out :P

  • Well he beat him last year, so I don't know how you could come to that conclusion.

  • There's a difference in beating someone who can't adapt to their car, to beating someone who's at absolute confidence in his car. Besides, beating someone in the championship is not the same as proving your worth. There's alot of other qualities in drivers. Take Button as an example - brilliant driver, much better than lot of the midfielder's, but is still behind them all the time. Button's fault? I don't think so.

  • You mean someone who failed to adapt to their car?

In the case of the 2008 championship between Ferrari and McLaren, how is beating the other in the championship not considered proving your worth?

Qualities such as adapting to the machinery you're given, work ethics, communication, car development, driver feedback etc etc.

Button? I don't know how good he is. All I know is that an aging Barrichello beat him last year.

  • Kimi could have won 2 driver's championship with McLaren if not for realibility issues. And compare the way Kimi won the championship on 2007 and the way Hamilton won it on 2008. He almost lost it during the final lap and he was driving conservatively that is not the way of true champion.

  • 2003? Michelin was using illegal tires, so I wouldn't say he would've won, not fairly anyway. And besides, his mistakes in Spain and Canada were what really cost him the title.

2005, he made a mistake in qualifying in Bahrain which he could've won. At the Nurburgring as seen in this video, he flat spotted his tires which causd his suspension to fail. In Monza he spun out, he could've got a podium at least and in Brazil another qualifying mistake.

  • Although he could've won it if his car was more reliable, he also made his mistakes too.

A true champion? A true champion is the person who is champion right now, and that's Lewis Hamilton.

People criticized Hamilton for driving too aggressively, now you're criticizing him for driving too conservatively? The boy can't win, can he?

People never ciriticized Prost for driving too conservatively...

  • I criticized the way he drove the last race of 2008. He almost lost that race by not sticking to his real drving style, he played safe, good thing he caught up with timo glock on the last turn. That is why i believe that hamilton does not have the heart of a champion.

  • Remember 2007 China? He could've played it conservatively but he drove to win, which helped kill his tires which then led him into the gravel trap. He lost the title the next race.

    You're ridiculous.

  • You got it all wrong. In the GP on china it was their strategy that cost him he did not change his tire on his first pit stop they just added fuel to his car. It just shows that lewis driving style is not smooth.

  • Actually I won't.

Yes, it's 2009, but that doesn't change that he was awesome in that race. To even dare try making those overtakings takes alot of balls, ice and steel. Hamilton might have these things, but he hasn't proven to me that he is in league with Hamilton.

And I never said Raikkonen won anything or had consistency in the last season. I just stated that he is fast on wet tracks ergo good at driving in those conditions.

  • hahaha. i've shouted a lot that day. bravo, alonso

  • POOOOOR KIMI...HE IS THE BEST

  • if by the best you mean, not very good in the wet or damp, not the youngest world champion, nor the current world champion, nor the most succsessful rookie, then u have a deal!

Jenson was so lucky not to get takin out in that crash, but unlucky to not have a team for 09 dam.

  • lolz. u r such a dick head.

  • AND YOUR POINT IS!

  • typical british retard who thinks hamilton is gods gift to motorsports.

  • Thats an awesome response, could you tell me who the most successful rookie in F1 history is? Next tell me who the youngest an current world champions is, and no it wasnt just because glock lost out on the last corner of the last lap of the last gp of the season, i MEAN WHAT an END to a season, you couldnt write that in a movie, the silverstone race in the wet were he out classed em all, the spa wet race, an many of the other races he was the best driver, all the poles to! there's more to come!

  • "Not very good in the wet or damp"?

Look up Brazil 2003. Watch the overtakings. Then be silent. :)

  • 2003, you having a laff its 2009 now! even easier than watching 6 year old races, watch this season's damp/wet races, then be silent!

    happy new year!

  • Oh and btw - at Silverstone, watch who had the fastest lap. That's right. Raikkonen. At Monza as well. Raikkonen's great in the wet or damp for that matter. The fact is that Raikkonen is better than anyone when he is at his best. He's disappointing sometimes, but all drivers are.

  • yes i like Raikkonen always have an will and yes he ia a brilliant driver, but a fastest lap here and there wont, dont, and never will win you a championship! winning races, working hard, and consistency win's championships thats how come hamilton is the youngest world champion and best rookie ever in the history of the sport.

oh an he didnt win either of those races so those fastest laps meant, NOTHING AT ALL... just like ned flanders, damn sexy flanders...

  • Hamilton just had a great car. Until he proved it on a non quality car the way alonso did I will never believe he is a great driver.

  • Alonso? The same person who was beaten by a rookie in 2007?

    Whatever, that is YOUR problem.

  • oi, muppet alonso an hamilton were in the exact same car, except that hamilton was driving an f1 car for the first ever time, alonso was already a double champion, Hamilton beat him as a rookie when they both drove the same car... wtf are you on about son shine....

  • Hamilton is a sublime talent and is destined to win more championships. The fact that he won more races, finished on the podium more times and scored more points than any other current F1 driver in the past two seasons proves this.

now that, that is how you become the youngest world champion, fast lap means nothing!

that was just to rub it in again, now, NOW you can be silent!

  • little lucky motherfucker alonso!!!!!!!!!

  • i remember this scene.. feel bad for him. but lucky for Sato(honda). nearly hit him.

  • it was jenson !!!

  • it was the last lap...luckily he is now with ferrari

  • Raikkonen è un grande...ha avuto tanto sangue freddo a correre in quelle condizioni...in questa gara meritava di vincere....però direi ke si è tolto qualke sassolino dalla scarpa vincendo il mondiale con la ferrari...mitico!!!

  • Raikkonen's a pretty awsome F1 driver & he deserved that championship with Ferrari.Fernando Alonso is the most exciting driver out there though, wish he had a front of the pack car.He should be in a Williams.

  • kimi räikkönen is best. im from finland

  • because of mclaren bullshitting ,they practicly handed alonso the championship! fuckheads

  • a flat spoted tire look @ the vibration on kimis car..it damage the suspension

  • sorry; please view this clip 2005-07 Europa (Yei

    it`s kimi`s fault

  • and in 2005 nurburgring again villeneuve did not get out of the way in a similar situation (villeneuve was a lap behind kimi) and force kimi to run wide on the first corner and here kimi hit the kerbs and the suspension was broken. but also the fault belong to kimi as well. but it`s better that way. no tactics result great races for us the viewers

  • in 2003 monaco gp, after montoya made a pitstop from p1, he have a 0.500 sec advantage ahead of kimi. Kimi remain on circuit 3 or 4 laps. In these laps kimi break the circuit record with 1 14 545. Kimi on low fuel make record laps and montoya with the tank full make 1 15 500 and 1 15 800. So in the last moment when kimi goes to the pits villeneuve who was a lap behind never get out of the way. Kimi lost precious time. the pit for kimi was normal.

  • it`s villeneuve fault. like in 2003 monaco gp

  • why~?

  • btw,whats the song?

  • Breakdown by Tantric

  • dam ,just a bad luck :(

  • woah, that BAR Honda was Damn Lucky!!!

  • i'm with you!!

  • Uhm so he managed to get a damaged tyre and a broken suspension at the same time? very lucky indeed, that BAR was definitely lucky not to be hit in the other hand

  • mom push cow

  • If that had happened 12 or 13 years ago the suspension would have flown off and killed either the driver or a marshall.

  • mosley and his stupid f1 rules

  • jap a very stupid rule

  • very unlucky, but it happens

  • there's a flat spot on kim tire right?

  • ferype93 kimi only crashed a lot because he was driving a dogshit mclaren. he is with ferrri no, and he's only crashed once. notice how i put crshed as in not any more

i dont really mind alonso, but kimi would have won 2003 and 2005 if he had a reliable car. hamilton isnt my fav either, but i do agree he blew the championship in 2007. it was like in 205, kimi crashed and alonso capitalized on it, in 2007, kimi capatalizes on hamilton's mistake KIMI RULEZ

  • did he flat spot his tire? the vibration was out of this world.

  • yeah your probably right but still he would get 10 more points but then he lost 10 by alonso so who knows??? :(

  • i remeber watching this race and talking to my freind and his brother told him 13 laps to go or something like that,,in the last lap his tire is going to pop,, and gues what happend :(

that probably costed him the campionship

  • Kimi is a legend...the amount of shit he took at Mclaren and then handing back the pain in his first year Ferrari...sweet justice. GO KIMI again for 2008.

  • Kimi raikkonen is special!

  • i watched this race...i was just waiting when that tire would burst!

  • stupid spanish!!

    kimi 4ever!

  • haha raikkonen for life!! :D

LOL he almost took out the guy that was infront of him in the turn xD

  • Joer, como le paso eso a kimi? :SS le estallo la rueda? xD

  • users down below, stop fighting over things like this, lets just sit back and relax and see who will win 2008's title, although im kimi fan,i dont hate other drivers except schumi and hamilton.

  • kimi is the best!!!!

  • Seems like you can't handle the fact that Alonso was outperformed by a rookie. By the way, there's only one O in "loser".

  • sorry for the "loser" with doble o

my english isn't very good because I'm spanish

  • Alonso finished 3rd in the drivers championship last year. Kimi was the world champion, and Hamilton, a newbie, beat Alonso with the same car.

  • I really hope you have something to prove your point with, as it seems like Alonso will not be any close to winning his third title in 2008, while Kimi has a very good chance to get his second-in-a-row, which would put those two guys in the same category. The reason Kimi Räikkönen didn't win a world championship title earlier was the unreliability of his car, not the driver, whereas Alonso won both of his championships with a superior car, especially when it comes to reliability as well.

  • fuckin spanish

  • shut up mdafacka

  • Shut up, kid :)

  • alonso is a nasty piece of shit! Kimi to win again.. alonso is one of the crappest losers ive ever seen.. shold have been chucked out last season..wanker!

  • lol

  • yeah u r right!! alonso is stupic!!!

and if a spanish girl like me thinks thas...

  • yeah u r right!! alonso is stupic!!!

and if a spanish girl like me thinks thas...

  • exactly.. it is a shame someone so young can be so bitter and twisted! constantly seems to moan.. not dealing to well without traction control is he? says it all... lol

  • hahahahahahahhahahah

    u r right!!!!

  • He was lucky not to hit Button

  • I'll never forget that...this is was so painfull...

  • YEp. Kimi would be two or maybe three. But If that accident wouldn't happen he would won world championship

  • I bet even though he has pleny of bad luck in his career to keep himself calm he probley does meditation

  • kimi is the best

  • Kimi had more than his share of bad luck throughout his carear. I just can't understand how he stays calm after all that's happening to him. He lost thetitle on this race, he was aware of that and he still kept his cool. No wonder he is called the Iceman. GO KIMI!!!!

  • Kimmi is the most underrated driver in F1. Due to bad luck he has won only 1 championship title. He could have won three in my opinion.

  • agree

  • Kimi's front suspension failure was very similiar to Ralph Firman's accident at Brazil 2003. That was also front right suspension that broke. But back then the driver in front was not as lucky as Jenson. Panis had to retire, too, after the wreck of Firman's Jordan hit him.

  • his trye didn't explode his suspension did, the suspension was gettin shaken violently from the tyre wearing until it just shattered

  • could someone explain what the hell happend?! I'v been thinking that ever since i saw this from tv. His front tyre just exploded and i didn't see anything hitting it.

  • The FIA, in the middle of the season, had a rule limiting tire changing - i think there could be not tire changes in the race. That accident made the FIA withdraw it.

  • oh! kimi what a bad luck!!

    but u r the champion now!! =)

  • alonso didn't admit that raikkonen diserved the victory

  • well alonso is arrogant ******* if you ask me...yes he is a good driver but he won his championships with pure luck..or should i say with Kimi's bad luck

  • Well then, I guess Kimi is pretty damn lucky too. If it weren't for Hamilton's dumb ass losing 20 points in the last few races then Kimi wouldn't have won the championship either. I'm no Hamilton supporter by any means, but I wouldn't say that Alonso won his two championships by pure luck.

  • Hamilton's head hold one's own. He made two stupid mistakes. First: China. He drove so much that the tyres won't work and drives to sand. Second: Brazil. He tries to pass Alonso but does a drive failure. Then he press wrong button and loses gears. And that's why Kimi won champion. He believed it all the time. He can close his mind.

  • far out how close was he to hittin the other bloke!!

  • I think the Season 2008 is a fight with Kimi vs Hamilton. Maybe Alonso but I dont think that the Reanult is so good to fight all Season for Championship. And the McLaren is only 2 Years good. 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008?

  • Kimi should have 3 championships by now. Lots of wins, but shitty luck. I hope he achieves more championships with Ferrari. He deserves it. The best driver in F1.

  • The people think that Alonso is the best but that is not right. Kimi is better but Alonso had a lot of more luck than Kimi. And I hope that Kimi wins a lot of Races and Championships with Ferrari.

  • Kimi´s personality is what makes some, not all people, think that Alonso is the best. Alonso is controversial, that makes media focus on him. I think they are both great, but i prefer kimi´s driving style, he´s a natural. I, as millions of people, think Kimi is the best.

  • Kimi is the best!!!! And today we see all his new Ferrari with the 1 on his car.

    :)

  • For me is Kimi the real Champion of 2003 too.

He had needs 3 Points to the Title and hes car was out 4 times. He had 4 times failt the piont and normaly he wins the title. 1 time he was in front wo his car engine was chrashed.

  • Kimi is the real Champion of 2005!!!!

  • true

  • and also the real champion of 2003

  • Why Alonso in 2003???

  • not alonso, kimmi is the real champion of 2003.

  • oh sorry I have not Correct read :D

Thats right in 2003 he had bad luck too

  • alright ;)

  • ficken sie scheisse mclaren, michelin, mercedes and alonso,

  • the worst moment of mine as being a kimi fan

  • Was is that for Music?

  • The Clip is good but the Race not. I was so happy that Kimi wins and than the ****** last Lap. :'(

  • Ohne die seile an den reifen hätte er den Reifen an den Kopf bekommen.

  • lucky he didn't take another driver with him (57sec point).

kimi definetly derseved the championship thi8sn year. runner up tiwce before and all. and good on hamilton too. rookie year and all leading the drivers point and everything from rd 3 until brazil.

man i can't wait for next year!!!

  • i wnet crazy when this happenend! i ran around the house celebrating! i was on the edge of my seat when alonso was catching! kimis fault for locking up all the time. but wow i went mental

  • Damnit! That was horrible it was like rollercoaster...looks good!...damnit....he will make it!....oh wait

  • I think Hakinnen had even worse luck. He was getting outpaced by schumacher throughout the year and needed to win desperately to keep a check on schumi. Led the race from start to finish and just before the last corner on the last lap, his engine blew!. I think it was spain. He took a break after that year and never came back!

  • Search this in youtube

    'Hakkinen retires in last lap'

  • Yeah the Finnish luck isn't so good. And Alonso isn't so good driver.

  • "You're as cold as ice..." :) Kimi is the champion now, he deserves it after all his crashes and technical issues.

  • Raikkonen was lucky not to hit Button

  • Damn it, this clip is so good :)

  • Man that's called bad luck If I were him i would have kicked the damn Fuc...ng car

  • I thought this race mucked him up for this year as well...stupid technical failure when he could have easily finished 3rd of higher. In 2003, he had an engine failure while leading by like 30 seconds...2005, this shit. Feel this race was pivotal in denying him those WDCs. But he defied the odds this time to become what should have been his back in 2003. Here's to complete domination by the Iceman in 2008 and WINNING at this cursed shithole finally.

  • Germany isn't the best place for Kimi:

    2003: Crash

    2004: Crash

    2005: This

    2006: Technical failure

    2007: Technical failure

    Poor Kimi :(

  • this race made me so mad, when i saw kimi crash i threw the remote lol

  • screw alanso
