  • enjoy simon gallup while he is here

  • lol i dunno why they stil play this, now smith hates their gothic phase

  • How old is Simon? He looks incredible in this one. Better then the two fatties to his right.

  • immenso robert!

  • I love the haters and people saying its weak. It's Coachella, acoustics suck there. But let's be real its a live performance to boot. I figure it to be success when you get to see the Cure "again and again and again and again and again and again......................" You obviously didn't grow up in the 80's if you can't appreciate it.

  • ALTAMEEEEENTE-abraço OPORTOCITY

  • Smith so young)

  • i think what everyone is forgetting is how fucking badass simon gallup is...

  • God Folks there must be a ********* reason why Jason is there..Yes he is not like Boris..but give me a break..Jason is cool!!!

  • thats right older means wiser and more life experience , you will understand when you reach this age, its awesome, im 44 and just starting to realize it right now, from older people they are worth listening to they have alot of life experience.

  • The Cure <3

  • @4:22 - The Coronitas hehe

  • they are so genius playing live...awesome band. im proud to be that kind of person that appreciates their music.. and good music in general. general good music *i salute you* and thank u again THE CURE

  • man this drummer is way below me (when i play a forest its .. good but this c'mon)

  • I don't get the drummer thing - too poserish for me - this version is cool.

  • The Cure are legend but this version of "A Forest" is really bad...

  • i ve read comments like old men is triyng to play..? WTF!

Old men? Robert is fifty. MJ was fifty when he began to put together the TII tour..but with sad end. He was amazing.

So 50 is not old even not for great musicians. 50 is like the great red wine..older, stronger, wiser, better. so much better...

  • I agree, they have played this song so many different ways. I like this version ,also. Robert has a stronger voice here than in 2008 in Bercy, probably.

Cure is one of the best band ever...They are proffessianal ,they play proffesianal.

  • Wow this is sad, have seen the Cure 4 times- in 1989, 1992, 1996, and 2000, all great shows. This is weak sauce! The drummer sucks. The whole band sounds clunky and off. No wonder they don't want to tour. So so sad.

  • WTH! I love A forest, but this version was a really bad, not just the drummer, but the rest of band very 'horn', indeed isn't was the same atmosphere of other performances, maybe is the Robert's later age showing your face, rsrsrs

  • Awesome, I love The Cure still! I wish i could see them in concert!

  • We critic the drummer...but what are we hearing??? A mix,,,,, the flat sound must be the exescive compressed wave...and it´s fault of the mix engineer, etc etc.......... For example all the kids love Metallica´s drummer....cuz he sounds strong...and it´s thanks the engineer, cuz Ulrich it´s no a relly great drumer (in comparission with drummers like Neil Peart of rush)...but what we hears it´s not really has he play or as he really sounds on live shows.

  • @cuerpoeperra I agree with you. The sound engineers of these days don't know how to let it sound right, like in the early days. My dad and me, we are always complaining because of that. Usually at mixing board, everything stands how it sounds right when the room is empty and they don't adjust it anymore when the show is starting.

  • This is what I miss... A white-clown face, dishevelled hair, black witch clothes... I love the 80´s and Of course, good sounds

  • @helbermello Yeah that's what you're missing, do you know what else you're missing?? a good english class, because your accent sucks. You should keep losing things... you know like life, you should skip the life and kill yourself asshole

  • @betacolombia rude repent please. thx loveugodbless, t and j kabbalah matthewshepard madonnalicious

  • @KabbalahWestCoast in what language are you writing? kabbalah?? that jew shit?...I don't understand

  • This is my favorite song of theirs

  • The Cure (Robert Smith) has to be one of the most creative people ever to perform.

  • Brilliant as always. The Cure

  • right on!

  • I dont like this version. Still love Cure and Smith tho.

  • my momma said if you don't have anything nice to say than don't say it...so with that I'll shut up : )

  • C'est où?

  • is the lead guitarist robert's brother in law that stabbed himself in the stomach on stage years ago?

  • Kinda impromptu for a performance for a paying crowd : /

  • The acoustic recording is the best version of this song

  • weak drummer? Have you ever heard the original version Mate?

  • @sadah01 THE ORIGINAL DRUMMER IS NOT THE GUY THAT IS PLAYING IN THIS VIDEO!!! The original drummer's name is Lawrence Tolhurst and he drummed from 1979-1982, then Andy Anderson entered the band, then Boris Williams (the best Cure drummer ever) and then came Jason Cooper (the guy playing in the video)

  • @dwnunder90 seems like You're a really expert about Cure buddy, but obviously you don't understand my post.

  • I'm a bassist. But hell, if I were a guitarist, this guys style would be my inspiration point.

  • Jason once again destroying a classic.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!

  • its 6 months later and i watched this a few more times. i'll comment further on jason. the song at this tempo really allows jason to not have be as creative with his play as say boris or andy. considering the bands age this tempo is fine. i will say they look fresh and rested on stage and seem to enjoy playing with each other. that said even if boris returned are the cure relevant anymore to have a huge resurgence of interest? real loyal fans might take notice but potential newer fans prob not.

  • This song doesn't neccesarily need a keyboard, but I really miss the keyboards in this band.

  • @Umberto2 I also do. The live version that i love the most is the japan one in 1984. Anyway, if they want someone to play the keyboards i'm ready, even though i know nothing!!!

  • Robert is rock's greatest living treasure. Just my opinion, he's awesome!

  • not the best sound, but a nice version of the song

    thanx for postinfg

  • go Robert! 9:13 :D

  • VIRTUOSE

  • so if you want to moan at anyone for why jason dosnt come across very loud it as punchy as borris its down to the sound man, and the way the drums are micd up to receive those sounds to start with. there is nothing wrong with jasons playing

  • the drumming is the same as the shows, version of a forest for all you dumb cunts who know nothing of how the sound of a drums kit is produced here is a little lesson for you, all drums are the same until someone at the sound desk, that the booth that is always in the middle of an arena or venue, starts to manipulate the signals of the bass, mid and treble,

  • Robert Smith is a fucking genius! Hes an amazing guitarist and vocalist! This is like one of the best songs I've probably ever heard, so much feeling into it. Im comparing this to stairway to heaven I would say they are sort of both great, they are both totally different genres so yeah.. lol 5/5!

  • I don't know if anyone else sees it but I truly believe that Robert is at the top of his game right now. During Bloodflower and the self titled it seems to me that he just didn't want to record music or tour....but now he seems so refresh...I think he has a couple of albums left on him....and this is the line up he really likes and enjoy.....

  • @aclopezestrada I AGREE!!! He is just as great as he as always been. For those who are focused on his weight, which fucking pisses me off, they can all go fuck off. I hate society! Utopia where is thy sting?

  • Ummm.....

    Can you say amazing?

  • this is pure art

  • Mi van rá írva a gitárjára?

  • weak drummer--otherwise great performance

  • @redpaul79 i don´t think jason´s drumming is bad at all. He may not be Boris , but he still sounds good. And anyway , he has been the cure drummer for over 10 years , so i think cure fans owe him some respect. I find the way some fans talk crap about him in such mediocre and disrespectful manner trully annoying

  • @bloodflowerpower i SAID weak, not bad

  • hmmm,....doch eher lustlos runtergespielt....

    Drumms sind doch ok.

  • its true what people say about jason's drums not being very good. however the rest band carrys him well here. robert still sounds great. they still blow away any newer bands. obviously A forest was better with boris. this version has some good aspects. porl's image has to go but his playing can stay. its interesting how many different ways they play this song over last 30yrs.

  • Porl was hard to look at that night!

  • @dmrosetattoo05 You're in this video :O

  • 5:59 I'm to the left in the stripped tank top dancing. You can also hear me scream about 13 seconds in!

  • @raysalsa1

i'm amazed that so many people are so bothered about the cure's current drummer. does it REALLY matter? yes some have been better than others............take andy anderson, who was technically brilliant, but hardly anyone mentions him nowdays............and as for jason's drumming abilities well he is their(the bands) choice and to all the critics at least he's earning a living doing it.

I bet most of the people slagging the poor bloke off would give a lot to be in his shoes!!!

  • @boltring hey it obviously does matter boltring. im one of many cure fans who recognize jason's deficiency as the cure's drummer. by the way, i have made a comment on other vids about andy's ability being right up close to boris williams. andy is in primary at glascow and is on my favorites section. check it out. I dont see anything wrong with constructive criticism about jason who the band has kept for 10 years. 10 years later he still cant play their older songs well.

  • I think Porl's look is really fun and cool and Jason's drums groove.

The "Paris 92" album rendered songs differently with Boris and Porl and it was good.

I don't see why a different take on songs would be a problem now.

On the other hand Robert is a bit drunk with the solo.

  • @raysalsa1 People who say this guy's Drums are not very good, probably are disatisfied with lots in Life, Sadly!!!

  • @raysalsa1 i read your comments just to laugh with you guys! You are not even the screw he lost and doesnt care about on his DRUMSET and you have a mouth to criticize!

  • @alxparas1 you know alot people thumbs up my comment b/c its constructive criticism. IT's not he sucks or he can't play. if you hear much of jason's play throughout the years he has had some shows were he sounds pretty good. other times rest of band carry's him. some vids on utube from mid 90's he sounds good. boris and andy were better for sure. listen to enough cure and you will will c my pt. i have at least 60 favorited vids of cure with ll diff drummers. it's not like i hate jason's playing.

  • @raysalsa1 ..better with boris?? with Porl? Simon - Rob - Lol T = original and still the best live version.

  • @raysalsa1

Porl has to go??!!!! are you kidding me??!!! The addition of Porl was brilliant. He give The Cure a much needed cutting edge image. Porl is total spice to the group. Come on man wise up.

  • Thanks for posting this. I love Robert / The Cure, when they hit the charts I was too young to appreciate their music's timeless greatness. I love all versions of this song and IMO also this one is awesome!

  • If they tour in 2010, I wanna go see them. But I won't go if Robert cuts his hair. Don't wanna pay to see Homer Simpson.

  • @46lar lool

  • E P I C song

anyone know where can I find the creepy forest visuals they usually play behind them while they play?

  • it is a funny sound of music there own sound and nothing wrong with the drums its there own sound and i like it

  • All you that talk shit about the Cure, you all suck! They are still great! I've seen them about 5 times, and each show was good. Blood Flowers tour was the best. Stop being so critical, we all got older. Hey, at least they are still getting paid for what they do well. Robert can do whatever he wants with his hair.

  • OMFG...the drums sound horrible...no punch at all... I know metronomes sounding better than this

  • The Cure is a band based on loud punchy drums.

Jason plays to insecurely. And the fact he plays 1/4 notes on open hi hats when it's 1/8 notes on closed hi hats.

  • he ALWAYS plays open hi hats and quarter notes all of the time!

and the drum pattern in Disintegration is wrong... he can't play 8ths!!!

    DW drums sound awful!

    Boris is more creative!!!

  • @dwnunder90 Even lol is more creative than Jason not just Boris.

  • just awful. dire. old men trying to play the past. i'll stick with the recordings.

  • I hope you come from USA !! This is The Cure from UK ... not a big ch.. from USA

  • shut up they are so amazing still

and there music now is as good as when they were younger

    thecure4ever

  • Agreed!

  • cooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • fantastica !!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeay, treeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

  • this is slower than the original version

  • actually this version is boring! and the culprit is the drummer called Jason Cooper. The guy plays like a piece of shhht and just listen to his sound!!! it seems like he is hitting a couple of cardboard boxes mixed with some tupperwares!

  • When I saw him in 1996 he was playing Yamaha Maple Custom - the drums sounded amazing. He switched to DW and ruined everything. I think he's talented, but I agree - the sound is awful.

  • It's the snare that sucks.

    And its a Brady.

I'm sure if it was a DW or Yamaha it'd sound way better

  • A Ludwig would be much better!

  • Agreed.

    Black beauty tuned right..

    *drool*

  • Okay, so what do Robert & Porl talk about? ;-)

  • over-use of hair spray and makeup while well into their 50's

  • Overuse of tattoos on Porl's part as well. :) It's a unique look, yes, but I hope he never gets tired of it. Robert needs to cut his hair. And change the make-up, at least. Less is more as you get older.

  • I love the loving face he gives to Simon at the end of this
