  • I would have jumped off the boat and grabbed it with my arms.

  • Isnt it funny how the threshers come in in a particular size class every year?? A few yrs ago they were all around 500, last year they were all around 300lbs

  • Cant get the wire then lose it like that, JOKE!!!!!!!

  • @MrNYJETSFAN93 hey douchebag...we got the fish...I chose not to show the kill on TV..

  • great fish what happened at the end.

  • @the1andonlyBIGE I chose not to show the kill

  • One of these got caught in my fishing nets...all the way in England (didnt know threshers existed in england xD)

  • That looks so freakin' fun!

  • how long did it take to fight it and land it? :)

  • @keeperdude1 an hour & 59 minutes

  • I SHOOT THEM WITH A 12 GAUGE SHOT GUN

I GOT A 10' IN 2009 OUT OF OC MD

  • Which one is you in the video? The guy fishing?

  • Its tail makes up almost half its length.

  • By the way, what set up you using? Looks like a Tiagra 50w if im not mistaken?

  • Nice shark! We go shark fishing heaps here in Australia, never caught a thresher but... must fight hard with a tail like that!!

  • @chrisfox08 dude arent the australians like tree huggers and against killing animal?!?!?!?!? and what is wrong with you killing pour aniamls

  • prety small compare to my 300IBS mako i cuaght in catalina

  • wonder how it tastes...

  • @primal2020 fantastic!

  • how much did that dude weigh, he looked pretty big for a thresher

  • @sukhoisown 225 pounds and 12 foot

  • sick video..

    would love to catch one

  • nice catch!

  • some guys caught a thresher shark today it was 7 feet off the huntington beack pier i was at the beah when it happened

  • part of the reason it takes so long is because the boat has to move forward to keep the shark at the back of the boat. This creates alot of pull on the fish.

  • they let it go...............

  • i got a question. y does it take that much time to catch a thresher shark? i really dont know much about this stuff

  • probably because of the size of thr tail (generates a lot of power)

  • and the unbelieveable strength it has.

  • 2:50 is a wicked shot of de fish 10/10

  • what set of fingers do you fish on because the biggest thresher i took this summer was 198 only 7 miles offshore outta shinecock

  • lol your guides are off the back bone!!

  • @LIONSDRAG

It's called a spiral or acid wrap. Offshore jiggers for tuna use them. Reduces the twist of the torque on the angler.

  • Fish on dude!

  • the best part is missing, did it get gaffed? What was the weight, 400lbish?

  • pardon my language, but HOLY FISHPASTE THAT'S HUGE

  • @colossalcalamari lloooooll ikr

  • They are not rare and you really should have some clue as to what you are talking about before posting crap like this..there are more threshers in the NY area than there ever have been..

  • Yeah, but did you just kill it for sport or did u at leas eat it?

i get kinda cranky with that kind of stuff.

  • we ate it!! The captain and cew and a seven man produciton team made quick work of it

  • awesome :)

    good luck with the fishing.

  • was it nice

  • @thefishingline10 why dont you ate chicken! :(

  • I love threshers there my fav shark!

  • Good job on that fish, that is a pretty innovative way to have the guides on a rod set up, i've never seen a rod like that. Very cool

  • H O L Y S H I T T H A T W A S H U G E !

  • fucking huge shark dude. me an my cousins were like stuck to the screen while watching this vid.u got very lucky.very rare shark.

  • dude you caught a thresher lucky thats rare cant you get arrested for like looking at them or maby where you are they arnt protected

  • Wow i was glued to the screen! its humongous!

  • wow big shark

  • hehe good training take ages to get them upp!

  • u know there tail is so strong it can knock your head off!

  • That's some strong line...what is it made from?

  • We got alot of threshers up here off of Martha's Vineyard. catch them by accident while fishing for the makos. Their a good eating shark to. great vid, keep it up

  • the guy talking loudest sounds like tom hanks lol.

  • PHEW! luckily the rod didn't breack. :D

  • Arent Thresher endangered

  • not really....we've seen more in the northeast US here in the last few years than ever before...

  • lol not cuz you c more it meens they aren't endagered anymore.. btw

    nice pink shirt??

  • just because you dont see them doesnt make them extinct

    whats your point man?

  • what happend to your rod. you guys are luckey it was not a big one.

  • at 2: 57 where they are all leaning over the boat that is a very dangerous move, the tails on those sharks can a knock a full grown man into the water etc. if it had of taken off it could have been absolutely herendous

  • Thanks for your concern and that's a good point, but we are all experienced anglers and sharkers and know what we're doing...thanks for watching

  • amazing video did u keep the shark?

  • nice shark rich we caught a 505lb thresher in the bay shore tournament those sharks are always fun to bring into the boat lol

    tight lines

  • The tails on those things are amazing!

  • why do they keep the boat rollin? isn't better to stop the boat so the catch can get to you faster?

  • Keeping the boat gives pressure to the shark and makes it move a little less

  • im 14, all ive caught was a 7kg Gummi in port Phillip.. tho i caught it when i was 11

  • orriblebob did u hear bout the thersher caught of the isle of white nt to lng ago it was estimated at 500 pound it waz in the daily echo

  • wat kind of reel is that ur using

  • pretty sure its a deep-sea baitcaster

  • no...i think thats a penn international tw 30

  • Nice fish mate. In England we used to have a wonderful shark fishery around the Isle of wight. This was during the late 1960's, people were coming back day after day with 6 or 7 sharks, Porbeagles and Threshers.Sadly this area was fished out, and now we have no shark fishing on the south coast. What I am saying is, lets have our sport, take plenty of pictures, let the skipper estimate the weight, and then let the sucker go!

  • nice rod i had one of those and it broke...

  • great catch mate congrats. do those taste nice?

  • Wonderful! Good job on catching it! Threshers are my favorite shark.

  • Thanks...I am sorry I just removed the post before yours by accident of the fellow who asked what size was it...it was 230 pounds and 12 foot in length, 6 feet of tail and 6 feet of body...

  • i had thresher shark for dinner a few nights ago. i got a few pounds from a guy who came in 3rd place tasted SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOD!

  • Nice catch man. What was ur line and bait?

  • thats pretty bad ass do u eat them after u catch and im glad u block those tree hugging fagets u should use those stupid whores 4 bait

  • Thresher is actually IMO better than mako shark to eat

  • god damnb see the tail on that thing 0_o

  • To Sharkgoddess...you are now officially blocked...buh bye

  • how many times am going to have to remove you??

  • great video! good job, man!

  • Great vid! I'm off to Morro this week to do some shark fishing. If you smelly tree huggers don't like a video, don't comment. If you don't stop I will take away your enya records and make you listen to motorhead until you take up shark fishing.

  • Nice thresher. I'm going down to the coast this weekend and hopefully we can land a few sharks. Screw the treehuggers and keep it up.

  • Nice catch. I am going deep sea fishing this summer. I bet a shark would be a nice surprise catch...Nice video.

  • Nice job man, that was an amazing catch!

  • man u were lucky to catch that thresher i went to a tournament out in freeport ny last week and man they had some monsters

368lb which won the tourney 320lb 309 302 awesomeee i went yesterday but onli caught blues but man they were huge blue sharks it took about n hr to bring the damn thing up

  • Thansk that's the problem wiht putting up videos...everyone's a critic even thoguh they have no clue what they are talking about...thanks man!!

  • I think they must of had quite a bit of trouble removing the hook. lol.

That is one big shark though!

  • I just realized I can remove and block users...awesome...so I got rid of all the tree hugging bastards and girly comments on my catch!!

  • Seems like you got a bunch of hippies commenting on your video....keep up the good work though, loved the video

  • great footage, hey thrusher sharks aint endangered that was a great catch,,i bet the released it,wow sore mouth tired,,it will get over it

  • check out this video we made of shark fishing.

    search "shark vs human"

the animal rights activists will love it.

  • This is a very good video and most fishing like this is relatively humane. You want to bitch about sharks and suffering go to Japan where they slice the fins off and throw them back alive and finless to sink to the bottom and starve/bleed to death just to MAKE SOUP.

  • China rather, sorry.

  • Problem with your logic, is that you compare humans to animals.

I love animals, and I'm a pet lover, but according to you radical animal activists, we're no better than my dog that licks my spit of the ground.

    Morons...

  • thats exactly where i think your wrong. Im comparing pain to pain. No matter how stupid a living thing is, if it can still feel pain... its still pain. You wouldnt want it done to you so why do it to others? even animals.

  • Those that are complaining, there are a LOT more disgusting and torturing methods of killing eating animals, you can find them on youtube actually.

Compared to that, fishing here is relatively sound, and painless.

  • Make you a deal special bus boy Neutral666. You are welcome to try to stick a hook in my mouth! And yes if you live you can eat me. It's called nature and is the exact reason we have incisors. Sharks have a set of teeth like humans made for eating meat. I don't think you will find a shark who will apologize for eating meat and I will not either. Eat me!

  • nice shark

  • save the moral bullshit

  • Neutral666-you are a jackass. For one thing did you see the gaff come out. Thats used for harvesting the fish. That thresher was not reseased it was eaten and threshers are tasty so grow a sack you vegan fairy goat lover.

  • Why bother getting an expensive boat and gear just to torture a fish? If you macho meatheads must hurt things to feel good, why not try a neighbourhood cat?

  • it's called the sport of fishing.... wow you are such a woman

  • PLEASE NEUTRAL666 and all animal lovers about to berate catch and release fisherman-its a handful of sharks. THE ISSUE- 150-200 million killed on an industrial scale each year. So go to sharktrust . org to really help

  • Nice shark. I noticed the guides on rod are spiral wrapped. Do you feel like it makes fight easier?

Too bad the captain kept it but since he did, did you weigh it?

  • what sort of idiot catches and releases something using a gaf

  • Let me say this--and I am the furthest thing from a "tree hugger" so take you right-wing b.s. and shut up: A thresher is a beautiful animal-like the guy said. These sharks are wonderous. Catching and releasing is cool--killing the very thing's that makes your ocean so beatutiful is a fuckin' disgrace! Catch and RELEASE!

I would've slapped your captan upright.

  • eat me

  • 30 miles south of Montauk Point, NY

  • To all the tree huggers; quite complaining to us about catching one or two sharks a day and releasing them and start a revolution against the Asian fin market!

  • Great post , dude ! Asians kill sharks just for fins and dolphins too for their meat.

  • Whered u cath that beast of a shark? :)

  • those tails wil kill you

  • What bait are you using??

  • Mackerel

  • Nice fish.

  • Yep, note to fishermen and anti' alikes- the BIG picture is the 150-200 million sharks killed for the Asian shark fin soup market. Threshers/mako's/Great whites are going the same way as the passenger pigeon

  • Conservative estimates predict through long line catches that the Thresher shark population has declined 80% since 1986. Nice one fellas

  • Yup...the longliners are killing everything that swims...birds, turtles you name it

  • Well the sad fact is that with the world's population on the boom, any species we can eat, but we cant domesticate and farm, is doomed to go extinct. There's too many mouths to feed, and most of them want meat.

  • GREAT VIDEO GUYS KEEP THEM COMING.

  • "Obviously the shark doesn't care about our camera angle!" LOL - Congrats on the catch, and thanks for sharing!

  • I can believe that guy!(Faurep)He is totaly ignorat to the facts of fishing. He also contradicted himself.

  • dude u seriously need to learn ur shark fishing cuz shark dont die after woulds u fuckin idiot.. go do some research or even better yet go shark fishin tag and release one and u will see it wont die

  • All Hippie Tree Hugers should go to Hell and Die.

  • cool video

  • Dude that is sick...

Me and my oldman fish alot out of Orient Point but all you get are porkys, blues, and the ocassional sand shark.

Do you know of any better spots in the area?

  • ya it just looks weird and like a spinning rod

  • whats up with the guides on that rod

  • It is called a Robert's wrap...they start on the top of the rod then go tomthe bottom so it is more natural and it takes the torque or twist off the reel when fighting large fish...I really couldn't tell the difference.

  • 230 pounds 12 foot, 6 foot for body and 6 foot for tail

  • I didn't lose him...he was tied to the saide of the boat,...I just didn't want to kill the shark on TV...I wanted to let her go, but the capt. wanted to keep it, so I never showed it being killed.

  • really?? how big it was? 300lbs?

  • Hey...awesome video. that sucks u lost a nice thresher

  • I didn't lose him...he was tied to the saide of the boat,...I just didn't want to kill the shark on TV...I wanted to let her go, but the capt. wanted to keep it, so I never showed it being killed.

  • great video

  • Thanks I appreciate it
