  • Sciarrino Sonata No. 4. Sounds like a good performance, but it's hard to tell as the recording quality is not very good. (There are better quality recordings of this piece on YT, but played at a slightly slower tempo).

  • Hate to say it but you're wrong, there were 3 wrong notes ,beside the fact that the pianist forgot to lift his foot off the pedal :-D

  • that's music! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • After having studied the lives and works of the great Romantic piano composers (Schubert, Liszt, Schumann, Chopin, etc) who were so interested in communicating to the soul of man, I cannot imagine what one is trying to convey with this. Can somebody post their understanding of this piece? I would be most interested.

  • This seems different form his work for double bass and flute and the sonatas which always have an isolation of space. There is no silence here. What work of SCIARRINO is this ?

  • I TOTALLY agree with you. It sure is real fun but it isn't easy at all... Sight reading through it is quite tough...

  • why would anyone want to play this?

  • shit

  • Impressive!

  • I never thought I would actually see a performance of this...

  • this performance was from last year 7/18/08 in Germany I believe. Unfortunately this piece isn't played too often, possibly due to the character of the work, and the difficulties in presenting this work convincingly.

  • Sciarrino composes gestures. He has good pieces, but a lot of his material turns out to be quite shallow: gesture, gesture, gesture, gesture...boring, boring...boring....same same same same.

  • If I'm not mistaken, this is Sciarrino's 4th sonata. I cannot really appreciate this performance fully due to the lack of great sound quality , but performing this is already an accomplishment; there however, is much to be learned, especially since the middle triplets in the score are not clearly heard with the excessive pounding of the clusters which should be of some diversity dynamically.

  • Vi prego, ditemi che è uno scherzo.

  • Questo sì che è furbo! Lo pagano, sapete?

  • Oh, whoops, they forgot to have the piano tuned.

  • I bet this is a b*tch to memorize...

  • it is a b*tch to learn to play well period; forget memorizing. Pianist Ian Pace had to learn this one last from Sciarrino's 5 sonatas; because in all honesty, the 4th is the hardest to make good sense of and present to a public that will hopefully understand. The 5th may not be wickedly difficult, but its gestures are also difficult to present adequately. It's hard to paint "the big picture" with Sciarrino's 4th & 5th piano sonatas.

  • Is there a recording of Pace performing this sonata?

  • Whoah! I heard a wrong note at 1:01!! XD

  • Boring and ignoble crap!

  • Ehi! C'è un si bemolle di troppo a 1:31? Possibile che nessuno se ne sia accorto?

    :-D

    Mah...

  • Great exercise for everybody with nervousness!! ;)

  • scommetto che non riesce a farlo 2 volte uguale.

  • Più che altro, non glielo lasciano fare.

  • fumato fino all'osso

  • Stupid music, stupid pianist. I like the use of the score!

  • ugh, this piece is so hard. Although Sciarrino would want the pianist to play without his shirt on I think.

  • what is the title of this piece?

  • "Throwing UP" for piano and an idiot player, Opus 8340

  • funny. :)

    anyone know the actual title?

  • Now, tell me, is that really important?

  • it's the 4th Sonata

  • Sonata n.4 for piano

  • you mean to arouse certain ladies or men in the audience??

  • I'm going to have to take some time to process what I just heard.

  • There is a problem with the piano. The cover over the keys is open.

  • Man! I am really shocked someone who listens to Willie Nelson can't get Sciarrino's music.

    lol xD

  • i think i heard a wrong note in the middel part! ;) terrible "music"!!
