The Caylee Anthony story is a big example of Missing White (or Pretty) Woman Syndrome. I was researching the topic today and what I found made me very angry. I found cases of minority women that were similar to higher profile cases of white women.Ex.: Laci Peterson and LaToyia Figueroa and the case of Mya Lyons. The case is so similar to Caylee Anthony, Mya was even murdered the SAME YEAR- 2008. Guess who is still in the media after 3 years & who faded into obscurity.
Innocent until proven guilty became guilty despite proven innocent. Amazing how everyone knows all the facts in this case like they were there and they found the only 12 people on the planet who thought Casey might deserve a trial first. And they say justice wasn't done because they don't agree with the verdict, like justice is dependent on their opinion. smh

I read online about a woman named Mitrice Richardson who died of mysterious curcumstances and who some/many think she was possibly murdered considering how her remains were found etc. There's another lady Ebony Franklin who was murdered recently by her father in MD l believe. The Caylee Anthony story is a big example of Missing White (or Pretty) Woman Syndrome. I was researching the topic today and what I found made me very angry. I found cases of minority women that were similar to higher profile cases of white women.Ex.: Laci Peterson and LaToyia Figueroa and the case of Mya Lyons. The case is so similar to Caylee Anthony, Mya was even murdered the SAME YEAR- 2008. Guess who is still in the media after 3 years & who faded into obscurity.

I completely agree with you. I've seen Nancy Grace's show (for example) many times and so far... have only heard her speak of the murdered/missing Asian boy Duckett. I read online about a woman named Mitrice Richardson who died of mysterious curcumstances and who some/many think she was possibly murdered considering how her remains were found etc. There's another lady Ebony Franklin who was murdered recently by her father in MD l believe. Nancy doesn't bring up minorities very often.

We get accused of this here in the U.K. The fact is when missing white women and girls come up missing and are not found in the first 48 hours they are almost positively been raped/murdered by serial offenders.

More people should realize how facts can be twisted. Not only by media but by ad campaigns and so on. The truth that I believe could fit in a small notebook. And I am probably exagerating.
Hopefully people can step away from the emotion media evokes and treat people like people.

I agree that the media coverage focuses on missing white women/children and that it is unfair, but media is business and they have to be able to sell news. Unfortunately the news on missing white women/girls sells better than news on missing men/minorities. It also has to a lot to do with the population (mostly white) and who watches the news and obsesses about whats on TV. It sucks and its unfair but its life.

I didn't listen to it all, but what he says is all too true.. if you are white, female, young and pretty and happen to go missing the chances of your troubles becoming an ongoing nationally covered story may be, in the scheme of things, fairly slight, but still infinitely more likely than if you are nonwhite, nonfemale, young or not, attractive or not

No, it's just a term since more women just happen to be kidnapped. It's like a competition...it takes many factors with one to trump in order to get coverage. For instance, two girls are missing: one black, one white --white will get more coverage, if they are both white: one from a rich family, one poor, rich trumps. If both are white and rich, the most attractive and quintessential "wasp" will win coverage. It's about class, race and sex.

i think you're missing the point. for example, during the time when that elizabeth smart was missing from home (only to find out she was right down the fucking street) a little black girl of about 6 or 7 yrs old was missing, chewed through the ropes she was tied up in and escaped. that is an amazing story that should have made national news. but it didn't because we were worried about a damn girl who was right down the damn street from where she lives.
