@wizzyrascal well, trying to get ivs in a pokemon that's a low level like Lv5 its impossible since there are so many possibilities. What i recommend to check ivs on a poke is: first you save when you have the poke with the appropriate nature (the 1 u want). Then, since u can easely clone in emeral, clone rare candies and give them till he's LV 100. REMEMBER, save your game b4 doing so, and then just calculate ivs, since ur gonna have stats of LV 100, u'll have the exact iv from all stats.

I've just been recently introduced to pokemon breeding. Is it common for almost all pokemon to have at least 1 pretty high IV? I decided to check my core 6 pokemon and found that all 6 of them had a description of something that matched a 28 or higher on your chart. I also got 2 pokemon which had descriptions which matched a 31, a "somewhat vain" sandile, and a "mischievous" whimsicott, just wonderin what the chances of those 2 actually being an IV level of 31 is.

iv's is a pain in the ass. what is worse is that i will not settle for a eevee with 31iv in every stat. i want a bold, shiny, 31iv in every stat umbreon. (shiny looks so much cooler)

@Dart11112 Yeah it does... And good taste in Pokemon. Umbreon is a wall. But you might want to go with the Impish Nature. Umbreon learns some amazing physical STAB bonus moves.

@sislegend No thank you I have now the Skarmory I need although I can't remember how exactly the parents were if ether they had changed ether with the items, natures and IV's. It's been as old as that last excurciating comment.

With that said in the future, if I ever need to do this again I really can't remember how I did it sadly. I haven't played Pokemon since and I thinking of waiting for whatever "sequel" 3rd game would come for Black and White. I'll probably have to go over all this again.

@Yug18111 Yes I can see. So did I, multitudes of times, yet it took over 3 months doing everything I could think of as well as being careful with the specific natures and bred over moves I specifically wanted to finally get a Impish nature Skarmory with the description "Often Dozes Off".

Yet as of now, not playing HeartGold since, I can't remember what I exactly changed for the life of me. I think I got rid of one of the items the parents were holding. :(

@NeroAngelo616 well that sucks. At that point what I do is compare who has the best IV stats of all the ones with impish natures and ev train from there. BUt normally I just get the nature I want on the pokemon then ev train it and use the cloning glitch in emerald to raise it to level 100 and then use it to defeat the frontier brains or something. But did you consider having drill peck on your skarmory?? That's whats on mine actually I just finished (and started) ev training for it two days ago

Yet still not sure again, I think the former two moves were the bred over ones with also having the Keen Eye ability. His name's GLIGAMESH. :)

At the battle frontier, you can earn battle points. You can spend those battle points on braces: Macho brace, power brace, etc. If you make a pokemon hold this item while it is breeding, it will have whatever IV's the item is for. There is a "Brace" item for every stat, and if it is holding that item while it breeds, the egg will have IV's of 31 in that stat. If you made both pokemon hold a different brace, two IV's would be 31, with the nature being random upon hatching. I hope this helps you!

so question: i know that IVs passed down can be affected by the "power ********" I forget the names, but they help in EV training by adding 4ev to a certain stat after a battle, and there is one for each stat. If I have a clampearl male with perfect sp. def, and a clampearl female with perfect def, is it possible to equip the power items for those stats on them, breed them, and get a clampearl with flawless def. and sp. def?

@gazebotrumpet you need to have parents with max ivs to get inherited.

For example: heracross (guy) has 31 attack and heracross (girl) has 31 speed. Both on daycare, you have a small chance of getting both stats inherited though. It may take long, but I take think it is worth it. I have an aerodactly with 31 speed and it rocks!

@ChampFootball "likes to thrash about" only tells you which of the IV's are the highest. It doesn't guarantee that it's 31. In your case, the highest IV is attack but it is only 26.

when you breed pokemon theres a high chance that 3 of the parent's ivs will be passed on to the egg. So the better the parents iv the more likely the pokemon hatching will have good iv.
