The man in the mall at the end of season 3 is not Red John because it's too easy to be true. Also I don't think he secretly works with the CBI because at the end of season 2, when the female accomplice was being transferred, she was poisoned by a man in a cop uniform.. So if that same man worked in CBI, they will recognize him

And RJ got many information about the CBI, he also chats with Jane on their network. So it must be somebody inside the CBI, and do you really think that Jane would not mention it if it is one of his collegues? Man he knows everything about any victim, he is a mentalist. So I believe PJ is Red John!

I really think that this long (and apparently never ending) plot device that is the killer "red john" makes "The mentalist" far less interesting than it could have been. From season one itself, they should have moved on and developped Jane's character. Indeed, this character is quite rich enough not to require the writers playing into some people's macabre fascination for pitiful psychopaths.
In the episode Red Queen, at the end the big commander guy, don't know his name, not the fat one the skinny one with grayish white hair. Well he recites a poem and I researched the poem Red John said.... AND THEY WERE BY THE SAME PERSON, put one and one together and I think the commander guy is Red John. Red John has HIGH up in either the CBI or FBI and very well connected. Look at the the amount and calibre of people he has had work for him. I also think at this stage it is too soon to rule out the possibility that Red John is a group and not just an individual. With the people we have known to be working for Red John and the lengths they will go to for him it seems almost like an extremist religious organisation.
Fourth the above aforementioned video which suggests their voices are one of the same or very close. I have seen this show on numerous occasions probably most of the episodes however I have not seen the pilot yet so I did not know of the character Brett Partridge until the season 2 finale. I found him to be very awkward, odd, callous, and something about him was unsettling. When Jane explained his thoughts to Partridge at the crime scene about what kind of person the victim was he seemed........

A lot of the times in movies, shows, plays, etc. the hero and the villain are almost the same person with one noticeable difference, their heading in different or opposite directions in life either through the law or through human moralities. Also obviously their I.Q. levels exceed that of an average person both extremely intelligent, their physical appearances are very similar that they both have the same build and size which makes them perfect nemeses.

Third the connections and penetrations that "Red John" has to the CBI staff, buildings, and the their computer networks. It would make perfect sense for Partridge to be "Red John" in this sense, because Partridge works for the CBI as a forensic investigator which grants him permission and access to all CBI equipment, crime scenes, staff, etc..
Well, in the last episode of season 1, the police officer who was Red John's accomplice states that Red John was a friend of his father's. The police officer was at least 35 so, Red John would be a fair bit older.
Having said that, the voices are really similar AND it would be pretty genius to make him Red John.
It doesn't necessary have to be the real RJ who came to rescue Jane. Beside, I believe that this issue is still open and producers are yet to decide who RJ really is. So even if the same actor played the masked Red John and Officer Partridge they can change RJ identity anytime they want just because you figured it out.
Though I'm just theorizing, not saying my theory is better than the next. But the writers obviously put a lot of thought into the story, and it would be kind of a shoddy ending if a kind of secondary character who is rarely mentioned is revealed as Red John.
I think that it would ruin the story if Red John was someone kind of random, like this guy. Also he seems to young. And it can't be Patrick, it makes no sense. I'm betting red johns a) someone in the CBI from the start or b) will never be revealed, and the entire character just serves as a plot device. Jane thinks he is invincible, but he couldn't catch Red John.
I wonder if he is the real Red John because how can the show go on if the real Red John is dead? Although the guy he killed who was Red John played a really good villian!
The guy in the video, the boss of the CBI are both with Red John. They are sbires that will be revealed later.
It's logical : the scenarists would not have take the same actor to play Red John and the forensics guy : this guy is with Red John. So that's not over.

It can't be Patrick because in one episode i forget which two girls ask him to sit with them and he said no I'm married. Come on it just can't be him, no way. And for him to have a split personailty something tromatic would have to happen to him when he was a child. If he ever did get one, it should have been AFTER he saw his wife and child murdered. 1. Red John seems to understand how to not leave forensic evidence behind, and since that’s the area where Brett works, it could explain the absence of any real evidence.
2. Both episodes that Brett were in were focused on Red John, which could be a coincidence or another clue given to the us by the writers.
3.Brett matches Rosalind Harker’s physical description of Red John.

I always KNEW the FBI guy grace was dating was either RJ himself or had connections to RJ, It kinda reminded me of Deb's old bf in Dexter being that serial killer. Kind of the same idea, someone close a person that's close to the main character being the killer. I will admit though that they had me when they made us think that it was really the boss instead of grace's fiance, until grace's fiance started asking her way too many questions.

Though I'm just theorizing, not saying my theory is better than the next. But the writers obviously put a lot of thought into the story, and it would be kind of a shoddy ending if a kind of secondary character who is rarely mentioned is revealed as Red John.

I think that it would ruin the story if Red John was someone kind of random, like this guy. Also he seems to young. And it can't be Patrick, it makes no sense. I'm betting red johns a) someone in the CBI from the start or b) will never be revealed, and the entire character just serves as a plot device. Jane thinks he is invincible, but he couldn't catch Red John.

The guy in the video, the boss of the CBI are both with Red John. They are sbires that will be revealed later.
It's logical : the scenarists would not have take the same actor to play Red John and the forensics guy : this guy is with Red John. So that's not over.

I don't think this is Red John. I think its the boss of the CBI. In season 3 episode 16
he recites a poem by William Blake...The same poet that wrote Tiger Tiger which Red John recited after saving Patrick. Fishy huh!?

@dodo261297 you check the conversation again and you might notice that, at the beggining, the dude who`s suposed to be Red John says "it`s nice to met you, face to face... sort of speak".... now, you explain to me why, if he really was Red John, and was actually in front of Patrick, did he said "sort of speak".... you do that, and then there will be no doubt he was Red John

It can't be Patrick because in one episode i forget which two girls ask him to sit with them and he said no I'm married. Come on it just can't be him, no way. And for him to have a split personailty something tromatic would have to happen to him when he was a child. If he ever did get one, it should have been AFTER he saw his wife and child murdered. I vote towards Partridge.

@parkerthehicks True but I would put my money (if i had any) on Partridge because,
1. Red John seems to understand how to not leave forensic evidence behind, and since that’s the area where Brett works, it could explain the absence of any real evidence.
2. Both episodes that Brett were in were focused on Red John, which could be a coincidence or another clue given to the us by the writers.
3.Brett matches Rosalind Harker’s physical description of Red John.
4.They hate eachother from ep. 1

has no body watched season 3 finale? the guy is like 50 something with red glasses. jane thought he wasn't red john until he perfectly described the night red john killed jane's wife and daughter. and then red john got shot by jane. BRILLIANT.
and was i the only one that laughed really hard when Craig O'Laughlin got shot?!

@Madcat529 someone close to Red John could know those exact things, so to be honest, apart from Patrick Jane's amazing skill and the honest face that the presumed Red John has when describing that night, we can not be sure. However, if it isn't Red John that Patrick shot, we're off to see jail for him, which he will escape, by the help of Red John. Because to be honest, the real Red John would never quit, not until he or Patrick is dead.

I always KNEW the FBI guy grace was dating was either RJ himself or had connections to RJ, It kinda reminded me of Deb's old bf in Dexter being that serial killer. Kind of the same idea, someone close a person that's close to the main character being the killer. I will admit though that they had me when they made us think that it was really the boss instead of grace's fiance, until grace's fiance started asking her way too many questions.

I'm not convinced that the guy Patrick killed tonight is really Red John. Just because he described Patrick's wife and daughter means nothing to me. Something just still seems wrong. But I KNEW the FBI guy was in on it. He was too much of a likable guy not to be. And his hesitation to save Van Pelt a few episodes back raised even more questions for me. LaRouche is too shaddy to be involved. I see his character as a distraction to the truth...trying to throw viewers off track...
