How to make firefox run faster

Okay, when I opened this vid after googling "how to make firefox not slow", I clicked on this vid, and in the process, Firefox froze 4 times. No, I'm not kidding. In those four freezes, had I typed, it would have stopped responding and possibly completely crashed. Just after I typed the word "crashed" in this comment, the text itself lagged behind. I don't exactly type fast...

As awesome as this is, there's no point in setting max requests to anything higher than 8, since firefox can only handle 8 max requests, no matter what integer you set. Not that it matters.
