Great video, cant wait for rally GB use Dyfi, Pantperthog and Gartheiniog again!! It said in Motorsport news that in 2010 they mite have an overnight halt in North wales, plus a lot more stage and road miles!
I rememeber first seeing colin driving in 1988 in his nova, the commitment was outstanding, why is it we loose the hardchargers early, mcrae, senna, dave metcalfe and countless others ? No disrespect to burns, he was an awesome driver without the flair of colin. We should all just be happy to have seen these men in action. Lets all look forward to the next young charger too come through...
I was spectating on the stage before this one (Hafren) and saw the most amazing bit of driving I've ever seen...
It was the 2nd stage of the day (Monday) and they'd lost 2 mins to Richard Burns on a foggy 1st stage, it started in the dark just before sunrise and being first on the road meant they had more time in the dark and suffered really bad reflection from their headlights in the fog (but lets not take anything away from Burns, he was fantastic at driving in foggy conditions)
McRae was furious that they hadn't delayed the start to allow all of the cars to run in daylight and launched what I can only describe as a savage attack in Hafren........... IN 22 MILES HE TOOK 28 SECONDS OUT OF RICHARD BURNS DESPITE SPINNING IT A FEW MILES FROM THE START (hence the broken left rear window seen in this clip). By the end of the day they had caught Burns.
I was wrong about the broken window, it was the right-hand rear window that was broken in Hafren.... guess that what happens when you use all of the road plus a bit more.
Look at clip called Network Q RAC Rally 1997 to see what I'm talking about.
Balls of steal!.

I travelled all over to see Colin drive and was always amazed by him but his commitment on that stage will etched into my brain for ever.
"We're here for a good time, not a long time." I hope you're resting peacefully.

Sad that Jhonny died too. He probably would be the next Jimmy, Alister or Colin McRae. RIP to the family friend, Jhonny's friend, Jonny and Colin.
