  • the sound of the toms is great but my favorit drumset is the pearl references

  • the zildjian k-custom is my favorit series

  • This one's gonna be a really, really good one - very fine solo, amazing played. 5 stars, man!

  • You can easily play some shit with doble base, 10 basins and a lot of noise, but he plays technically sophisticated. It's really amazing to listen!

    Greetings from Germany

  • call the cops! he just raped that sweet little inocent drum kit :/

  • gotta love the sound of that gretsch

  • neil peart love child!

  • He sound like a fucking cannon!!

  • "YEAH!" at 2:54.

  • That´s fucking good....

  • Draco Malfoy?

  • @kaylnbaur

For real... The kid was the GC drum off winner in '07 and imo, can still wreck all the winners after him. Obviously he has a lot of talent and style.

On a side note: This, ladies and gentleman, is what practicing rudiments over and over an over [along with proper instruction on how to translate those to a full set] will get you.

    Wtg Donnie!

  • The tuning of these toms and even the snare... Pure gold to my ears!

  • yeah chops but no style

  • @kalynbaur that's nonsense... can you do this? if you can't you have no room to talk buddy

  • @kalynbaur lol!

  • how could you possibly dislike this video? easily one of the most cleanest, creative solos on youtube. what an idiot for disliking this

  • @xTaylorCrazyx the only explanation i can offer is that they probably hit the wrong button lmao. this solo is orgasmic.

  • kajgsdfhgasd sorry just wiping the jizz off my keyboard..

  • Killer solo!

  • this video depresses me. I'll never be this good =( amazing vid though! good job! @dmarple

  • i loooove double foot pedal...

  • One of the best drummers today.

  • his cymbals are a bit tight... wicked drumming!

  • @ned2one Yeah....That was my techs fault. Haha...

  • whoah... terry bozzio's kit is in the background :P

  • @fochencookey that it is

  • 3:07...daniel adair does a version of that groove

  • You are the SHIT! I love watching your VIDOS..keep on doing what you do best! I'll be looking for more AWSOME DRUM VIDOS from you.;)

  • why is there always that one asshole [who obviously knows nothing about percussion] that brings barker [and other mediocre drummers alike] into an intelligent video thread such as this one? god it really bothers the shit out of me...

  • holy fuck that was insaaaaaaaaane

  • Just a wild guess here but i bet he won his high school talent show :D

  • that 1 dislike is travis barker

  • DAMN i just had a drumgasm

  • Lol, who knew Drako Malfoy could play the drums.

  • Man, this video deserves a million views, or even more.

  • What do you guys think he's thinking when he's playing?

  • @XSt0n3rX probably .." heehee...i make this shit look easy........man....did i leave my iron on ? " ....

  • @XSt0n3rX 1+2+3+4+

  • @spartankills118 haters gonna hate....

  • He didn't hit rim once! Amazing!

  • This guys Donnie Marple doing amazing chops, outstanding stick trick, ultra fast crossing hands, of course Donnie Marple is higher level no doubt.

Travis Barker got tattoo everywhere and between you and me, something is wrong in your head when your doing that. The telereality show was pathetic. We can't deny that he has his own style, he is fast, nice bashing and lot of fun.

Nonetheless, Blink 182 is a funny band, Donnie Marple got more virtuosity, more chops, but less sex appeal hehehe.

  • 5:09 I can do that

  • 1:20 I can do that :D

  • the human being has become a marvel of musical capabilities. this is clearly demonstrated here by this guy and talent truly exists in this world after all.

  • Buckets, buckets everywhere

  • @pavko48 because barker is a no talent ass clown so he's easy to mimic, Donnie is the shit, takes years and years of practice to be this good.

  • @a93n70r4n93 Well Barker is good (though overrated), but this guy blows him out of the water.

  • amazing bladddddddddddddddddd keep that up man

  • To repeat some earlier comments... great versatility, technique, creativity and clarity. (With a light and very suitable touch of showmanship.) You are a monstrous talent indeed, Mr. Marple. I salute you.

  • very clear...very good!!!

  • Hands down best solo video around!! I thought the whole gospel chops style was great.. The creativity and taste this kid has is ridiculous!

  • one of the most creative and verstile drum solos ive vever heard. great!!!

  • Can someone give me another pair of pants please? I wont go into detail lets just say...Mine are ruined...

  • 1 person must be a Travis Barker fan

  • is it just me or is that the most PERFECT drumset in the world

  • This guy is just Freakin amazing. Who ever uses this guy and Travis BArker in the same paragraph is retarded....

  • @Bdrumr you're retarded. cause you just used them xD LOL. you shoulda put in 2 comments ;D lol. but yeah i agree with you :)

  • Thats funny,

Your right though I am retarded by my own definition

  • I`m seriously getting a mental boner from this!

  • I`m seriously getting a mental boner from this! One, if not THE most promising drummer of my generation in my opinion.

  • what kind of cymbals are he using?? can anyone tell me?

  • @DaveLander37 Zildjian K series, maybe custom K

  • Damn you Donny..... Damn you.....

  • does anbody know what heads he uses (on snare, toms, and bass)? those sound amazing... I think I don't have to mention that his playing is amazing...I guess you all know that

  • @c0d3x001 ... heads .... could be anything , they sound pretty thick , coated emperors maybe .... as far as his sound , its a combination of everything .... his gorgeous drumset , world class P.A. and recording gear , and his own incredible ability at sounding great on a drumset

  • @sweetfly66 thanks for the answer :-)

  • @c0d3x001 They're not any heads, everything he's using is Evans. EMAD2 on the kick, I'm not sure about the snare, and G2's on toms. Check Evans site to be sure though.

  • Remind me of Thomas Lang, but good stuff though

  • I think Tony Royster Jr is a lot better.

  • nice man.. u're the new Dave Weckl really i like your ideas and sound... you're good

  • lol he still uses the same things

  • WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT???!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • parabens cara adorei

  • no wonder he's thin. fuck

  • @TesticleMonkey no it is because most of them cant do it... :D

playing like this is not that hard really....you just have to practice,

  • its not just the drumsolo itself .... but this amazing beginning just blew my mind.... never seen anything like that before... and if seen lots of stuff...trust me i'm a doctor (jk)^^

  • awesome Donnie!

  • I have seen this solo for many many times...I just can't take my eyes & ears away from this amazing promising drummer...Just awesome!!!!

  • wow! this guy is amazing!!!

  • I went to the GC Drum Off National Championship and wen he started playing, I had chills from the time he started til he finished...he truly has a style of his own.

  • Jesus... no wonder I like Elmwood so much..

  • @ jakejjs: 2 names... Thomas Lang or even more comparably in age? Dylan Elise

  • donnie's the man

  • Hell yea Donnie. REPing for Keyser, WV baby

  • was this before or after he won drum off?

  • it was after

  • I wanna have sex with that kit it sounds so good

  • fucking GREAT

  • Comment removed

  • wow

  • He is a groove machine!!!

  • it was all really good untill he ended that with a little hi hat smack...should have ended with with a crash or something

  • man i wish those people wood stop moving behind him id be pissed man its ruining the solo u dont do that

  • Comment removed

  • he is so good and looks so humble at the same time =]

    A W E S O M E !!

  • he needs to have a drum battle with tony royster

  • his first tom is always tuned higher than the others =]

  • that Kit sounds DELICIOUS!!

  • DAMN!

  • Comment removed

  • That was nasty! I got to see him perform live twice, and he spits out jaw dropping material. Unbelievable drummer.

  • much better than guitar center 07 performance.

  • Yha ur right he's not good... He's F****** AWSOME!!!!!

I'm a fairly new drummer and I thoght Tony was the best I've seen but I was wrong

    Tony is like #2 now

  • i think tony royster is best but dylan elise is very best strong drummers and not tony royster..and donnie is not a best drummers but he s good.

  • donnie marple and tony royster, probably my top 2 favorite drummers

  • here you there man

  • God those drums sound so amazing...

  • holy shit!!!

  • better than jerome flood II!!!!!!!!

  • what does it matter?..they're both great drummers..who cares who's better dude

  • Yup =)! Way better.

  • its all improvisation

  • btw in these drum solos, do the drummers already have it all planned out, or are they just improvising?

  • @Quaby2 When i am doing a solo i plan some out to know where i want it to go but mostly its all improve..

  • what kind of heads on his toms guys? g2s over g1s you think? maybe a power center reverse dot on his snare or somthin?

  • he has a vid on the evans drumheads youtube about his tom heads

  • Wow.That was so well put together .

  • best comment ever... well done dude

  • makes me wanna practice !!!!

  • why don't drummers on youtube try to imitate and copy guys like these instead of barker

  • Because it requires much more skill, precision and dedication.

  • @pavko48-because it's more difficult to be a drummer that's actually good

  • @pavko48 b/c it is hard, much easier to copy barker, appear good, and maybe get a few of your home town ppl to think you are awesome

  • @pavko48 haha cos its a hell of a lot easier to play like travis.

  • @pavko48 people are shallow

  • @pavko48 cause its a lot easier to dress like travis, than to actually be the shit at drums haha

  • @pavko48 because is much morw easy to imitate this guy is a monster i dont think nobody can imitate him

  • @pavko48 because they cant

  • @pavko48 because travis barker is more cool than this guy! I think Donnie Marple is a better drummer but Travis Barker has more "style".

  • @pavko48 CUZ THEY CAN KEEP UP..HAHA PLUS BARKER USES A SMALLER SET UP.EASY TO WATCH EASY TO LEARN

  • @pavko48 because barker is fucking awesooome!!! hahaha

and if we had to immitate someone it would be joey jordison

  • @pavko48 Because travis just plays straight rock

and this guy grooves like hell :P

most drummers just talk and can't groove at all

    i prefer this guy

you can learn something from him...

  • @Thomlistentoslayer -and you obviously have no idea what you're talking about, "haha", you're just another fool "haha"

  • against any drummer in the world..id put money on marple

  • U r my new favorite drummer...Awesome playing...Just amazing...!!!

  • awesome drumsound!!

  • like this better then his gc one

  • his doubles are out of this world so clean

  • simply amazing

  • one of my favorite drummers

  • I think this is my favorite solo I've ever seen.

  • At 1:57 my mind was blown.

  • Great concert. This was probably the best drumming of the night. I do wish he played more, but you gotta give Nick Rich credit. He was great out there as well!

  • Ah yes, gretsch new classic. Best drums out there right now in my humble opinion. Jerome flood is good, scratch that, he's great. But if Jerome flood is great and I enjoy Donnie much more, than what is he? I wanna make sweet love to this solo. Maybe it'll rub off on me. 10 *'s

  • donnie you killed it opening for oar

  • I was at this show in NY.... Donnie was hot.... and I wish we would have watched him played with the Buddy Rich band instead of Nick Rich. What an amazing talent and he just got up there in front of every major drummer in the industry and belted this out! It was insane!

  • sweeeet!!!!

  • Ok... I suck on drums after watching this

  • I almost quit after this!!!lol

  • god, he is very good :/

  • Donnie taught me how to play. He was one of my drumline instructors. He's pretty much incredible.

  • flood rocks, but he's just another gospel chops clone. donnie displays very diverse and dynamic skill.

  • no bro idt so, like if you check out his videos hes not into that a lot really, thats my opinion atleast

  • hell no

  • No wonder he won DrumOff '07

  • What kind of sticks is he using at the very start? Right after he drops his mallet?

  • hot rods

  • their called multi rods

  • At the portion around 4:52, when he's hitting the Crashes and snare, can anybody tell if he's just letting the bounce take it and give him the double on the snare, or is he physically hitting twice?

  • It appears as if he's doing a physical double... He may be doing a wrist stroke, then letting the rebound raise the stick, then using his fingers for the second stroke.

  • Looks like the drop roll technique

i dunno if thats what ganglydude42 was describing

  • its just doubles that are rebounded, its like doing a gravity roll without the rim just linear wrist movement.

  • He is a fucking killing machine...

  • Now that's a solo! MUSICAL ! very melodic and plenty of motifs. Not to mention the very clean technique and speed......and tricks to top it off!.....Man!!!!!

Most importantly has a very good flow from one section of the solo to another. Killer Execution. It was a very entertaining 5:30min solo.

I don't make comments often on youtube videos, but this made me actually type.....thanks

  • Donnie is my new favorite drummer....sick control and dynamics...sorry I missed you in KC last night ....love this.

  • amazing! never seen anything like it!

  • i like this solo of his better than those that he won drum off with. this has a lot of those same ideas but he changed it up. Good stuff, could listen to this all day

  • At 3:30, what he's doing is actually incredibly hard, not so much because its fast (which makes it difficult on its own) but because its soft too. Very nice control.

  • Tony Royster Jr.... Go home...
