More accuratley the manga came first,as is usual in Japan.You can read it over at onemanga(dot)com if you want,and I personally liked it more than the anime,with the cool black$white graphics and the poetic feel about the story.

This is like the 13th times I've seen someone insist on making AT's. They really are a must-have though. Even with today's technology, it's almost impossible. You need a really small balancing disk that can read the distributions of mass from when a person lean forwards or backwards. Otherwise, just figure out how to combine rollerblades/skates with segway and a special air cushion built inside of it and you've got AT's.

Im sorry if this offends you but you have to remeber this is a show and so all the laws of physics apply like the air treks in real life might not be able tp carry a 500 pound man up a 90 degree wall against wind and gravity. THough I do agree with you if a person were to be able to make a roller blade that was affected by the position of your weight and still be able to carry you up vertically for who knows how long.
