That was not uncommon in the San Francisco Bay Area and other places in California. Your mother was endowed with a lovely body which conveyed the freedom of spirit in her movements.
What we used to do back then is drop acid and dance. Some of us would play. It was a time to break free of the rigid, regemented, materialistic and conformist attitudes which we saw as another form of enslavement.

My problem with docile conformity and the rigid lockstep of groupthink and newspeak is that it brings back a painful reminder about the Soviet Union where my family members were purged in a system that demanded unconditional conformity (ie, my grandfather). I am happy and even lucky to live here and see contrasting comments even if we do not blindly agree. My grandparents have fled the USSR and made their way here where they became legitimate immigrants as contributing members of our society.

Semantics my friend....semantics. Words mean a lot of things depending on what perspective it's being said from. In any case, my mother was a female who lived in L.A. during the 60's if that definition pleases you, you can use it....but it's longer to say.

Semantics,my friend?In those dim days of yesteryear,being the only boy on my street,my block,my school to have long hair and doing drugs, was no easy task.Physically abused by the normal kids(and some teachers,police),constant verbal abuse ("Fag"'Are you a girl?"etc.)Being a freak was a lonely road.Hippies were the norms jumping on the newest fad,as they saw it..That`s why the"Hippie Movement"never amounted to much,it was just a style.:-))

Hippies were the real, flower power, peace and love, deal. There were probably only about 10 of them ever. The rest of us were freaks and longhairs just trying to get by in a world of straights. Only the straights thought WE were the hippies.

That was not uncommon in the San Francisco Bay Area and other places in California. Your mother was endowed with a lovely body which conveyed the freedom of spirit in her movements.
What we used to do back then is drop acid and dance. Some of us would play. It was a time to break free of the rigid, regemented, materialistic and conformist attitudes which we saw as another form of enslavement.

I think that one of the things this video implies is a "free spirit".
Frank Zappa was a non conformist and his lyrics were: "Every town must have a place where phony hippies meet. Psychedelic dungeons popping up on every street. Go...to...San Francisco. How I love ya, how I love ya, how I love you 'Frisco. How I love ya, how I love you (Oh! My hair's gettin' good in the back)". He wrote that as a spoof on Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's lp.

My problem with docile conformity and the rigid lockstep of groupthink and newspeak is that it brings back a painful reminder about the Soviet Union where my family members were purged in a system that demanded unconditional conformity (ie, my grandfather). I am happy and even lucky to live here and see contrasting comments even if we do not blindly agree. My grandparents have fled the USSR and made their way here where they became legitimate immigrants as contributing members of our society.
